BudoStar
If you have a fast hardware and the frame limiter is slowing you down but you must use it bec. otherwise the textures are loaded too slow .. here is a solution for that: in XP - make a shortcut to the .exe go "properties" (right click) and select "run in Win 98/ME compatibility mode" now you can run VIce City without the frame limiter and the textures work as they should. the only problem this brings is on my machine that in the cutscenes the sound is shattering (ONLY in the cutscenes) but i am sure i find a solution. so again - run VC in 98/ME compatibility mode to run it without frame limiter (and with fast loading textures :-) cheers

abhinav
Thanks a lot Man!!!!! The textures werent loading even with frame limiter on for some(like me, i've got an ancient p3 450). Now every thing is fine no drop in fps also(for me at least). This should be pinned.
Vicetopia
"run in Win 98/ME compatibility mode" That's why I use Windows
Jordan
um no this doesnt work my game crashes when loading...and i have never had any crashes
inpro
I agree, someone should pin this. I got a XP 2100+ / ATI R9500 PRO and 30 fps with the frame limiter was rather dissapointing. Now its soooo smooth and since ATI owns at anti-aliasing Im playing with 4x AA / 8x AF all the time, no jagged edges, crisp textures , 1024x768x32 ;P

Gandalf the Grey
Incredible! You're genius man. I just tried this and it works great, except the game still had very occational stutters, but hardly any. On the first day I had this game, I just played it straight away, didn't bother with the MP3 Station, and it was very smooth (not this smooth though), after adding MP3s I thought it slowed down a bit, but I wasn't sure, so I've gone back and removed that station, and now this runs perfectly, so if you're still having trouble, try deleting the MP3's from the folder (dont' delete the folder). It should help, not much, but I thought it was worth posting. Once again, thank you Budo Star
zenfox
this works, but my shift key doesnt work anymore, so i cant run
Gandalf the Grey
My shift key is the sniper scope, and at one point that was screwed after this change. I went back to controls and it was listed as 'Right shift', so I reconfigured it, just by pressing the same button again, and got 'shift' Now it works fine again. Obvioulsy running on XP, it supports both shift keys for different functions, but not on 98. Just reconfigure.
Beazalbob
Wow Dude thank you soooooo much! Finally a solution to this problem. I have a 3.3 GHZ P4 and a 9700 pro making it run at 30fps was a real stupid solution to the texture loading problem. Hell I get a solid 85fps (monitor is set at 85Hz)V-sync on 4xAA 2xAF 1600x1200 RES. This also fixed my lighting problem in the game lights were just cubes in front of the car and they didnt shine on the ground. Thanks again!
