Rockstar Games have taken away our games on PC, this isn't acceptable!

Out of nowhere, the Rockstar Games Launcher received an update to void access to our paid games with the GTA Trilogy. 

 

Do not update the RGL if you still want to play and block the lanucher with the Windows Firewall to prevent it from connecting to the internet. They also not provided any ETA when it'll return back online which is likely breaking some sort of consumer law for taking away ownership without automatic refunds.

I was asleep all day and planned to play all night. This news is upsetting. Many were claiming they couldn't play yesterday when I could and it made me feel special. Maybe I'll be able to play again tonight even though everyone is saying they can't.

 

My guess is y'all who can't play it downloaded it illegally and since I actually paid, I get to play. However, I have yet to check today.

This is by far the weirdest release ever. First the PlayStation thing, no preload for PC and now they've completely removed it from the game library and stopped selling the game as well.

Isn't it already too late to do all this just to remove these "hidden" files? They should just release an update that includes a new .PAK file with these files removed from it. The game is just not magically removed from the hard drive and people have also made a backup of it.

I think those lists sent to GI and other media sites were always correct, which means not only there were radio tracks in the files that weren't supposed to be there, but also in-game, which would be a gigantic oversight that is literally piracy (distributing unlicenced music).

It makes sense now that the lists seemed incorrect despite having been sent to the media by R*. As far as R* knew, that was the music in the remasters, but GSG shipped everything. However, R* also didn't verify at any point, clearly.

 

I'm not sure if taking the games away from current users is the solution, I can't think of any other reason except maybe they could still be sued if they let people play with the tracks in there. But if soundtrack is the reason, this would need to happen on console too...

This stuff doesn't happen with their main releases so maybe it's time to redesign the release verification process especially when you deal with external companies, R*. Especially when it's a company that has already leaked both source code and tools in the past (GTA3 mobile).

The fact that Rockstar hasn't issued auto-refund or easy refund system is outrageous. I'm never touching anything that was developed by GSG.

 

They literally removed the games from our accounts and ran away with the money.

Also, might be a little off-topic, but now that the launcher and cloud services are back, are the achievements supposed to be synced now? I mean I got to play offline today and earned a couple achievements, but it doesn't appear to be unlocked on Social Club page (it's highlighted but no tick and date). Maybe when I will restart the game it will update?

I just don't understand why Rockstar can't just move on. The files are in the wild now, there's nothing they can do to remove them from everyone's PC now, the files are already on torrent websites and all over Discord servers. It's such a bizarre decision... I've had a long work day and I had hoped to play San Andreas for the first time tonight, well my plans are certainly not happening now.

Considering it's absolutely mental to lock peoples entire library's from them while they solve this I can only imagine it's due to limitations with the RGL.
