I think that the rain is much subtle now? or I'm just imagine because I didn't play it since the launch? (PC version, Ultra)

Yep that is changed if that is from the new build they released.

The original rain looked like this:

video killed the radio star

It still plays during the intro logo at least.

(Inb4 they pull the game down once again because they forgot about this)

Edit: just heard Japanese Boy.

That's good to know. Thanks for the clarification!

Why is the change in size so big? What was removed? A few GBs of text files?:kekw:

It is a PKG file, so I think any small changes require everything to be downloaded all over again.

I mean, the pak files are like 500 mb to 2 gb smaller now for each game. Even if they removed the unused songs from SA, that's hardly 2 gb.

2 GB sounds like more than enough for just songs, sounds like too much in fact.

I know it's still a sh*tty move removing the classic games, but how on earth can you guys not own the original games after 20 years on at least one digital platform? I still own all of the games on Steam.

Vice City is really not playable so far, have now set the graphics settings to low. I always have severe FPS drops / stutter problems.

My system:

Ryzen 9 5900x
32GB DDR4
Windows 11 x64
RX 6900 XT

All drivers are up to date. Does anyone have any hotfixes, tips?

P.S .: -vulkan & -dx12 don't work = crash

I am getting OK FPS with a much weaker system. Are you sure you're not using your integrated GPU? Dumb question but have to ask anyway.

I hope somebody somewhere have the original DE files from Switch and PC backed up so in future we can mod these games better and bring back content they might remove! I'm down!

Did anyone d/l the PC version before they wiped everything from their launcher? Because if so, then they've got the ORIGINAL Hot Coffee content. Which was only available on console retail DVD and not PC. All thanks to Hillary Clinton censoring the franchise so C* re-released the game completely neutered. Which was right around the time the PC version was ready to be ported for the game. Even with Patrick W's mod suite, you still couldn't access that content as a PC gamer because it had been  cut from the 2nd DVD release disk.

So if anyone has these files before the wipe/update and subsequent blackout las week, know you're sitting on a gold mine,  And eBay is probably your BBBFF for ever right now.....

Are you suggesting people should illegally sell and distribute game files? Not a good idea. In saying that there are at least a few people out there sitting on top of the source code right now if the rumors are to be believed, something far more valuable than a sex mini-game.

Do you mean the original release or the definitive edition? Either way, yes, the crack for the latter was shared on various social media and forums last week already.

About Hot Coffee... From Wikipedia (link here)

Quote

After San Andreas was released for PlayStation 2 in October 2004, modders began data mining the game. Past Grand Theft Auto games had known to have a number of Easter eggs and secrets, and modders began searching through files and creating mods to help locate them and for video game trainers that made the game easier for other players. One mod group, which included Patrick Wildenborg, started evaluating files from the PlayStation 2 version in anticipation of preparing mods for the Windows release in June 2005. The group found references to animations and script files related to sexual acts, and while they could not fully visualize these in the PlayStation 2 version, they recognized these animations were clearly of sexual acts. They decided to revisit them when the Windows version was released since, from their past experience, this version would be easier to work with. The group opted not to speak about their discovery until they could confirm with the Windows release.[1]

Between the PlayStation 2 and the Windows launch, Houser had wrote in internal emails if they could push more on the sexual content for the Windows release, including the possibility of a separate Adults-Only release that included all the prior cut and hidden sexual material. After internal debates, they opted to go with plans to release an Adults-Only patch that would unlock the content they had hidden, and the Windows version was shipped effectively in the same state as the PlayStation 2 version for this patch to work.[1] The Windows version was released on June 7, 2005; that same day, Wildenborg's group acquired their copies of the game and confirmed their assumptions of sexual content. They also discovered how to unhide the sexual intercourse dating minigame.[1]

Wildenborg created a patch file named "Hot Coffee", given the purported reason the girlfriend invited CJ to her home, and released it to the Internet at GTAGarage.com (the primary site for Grand Theft Auto mods at the time) two days after San Andreas's release, on June 9, 2005.[1][4] According to Wildenborg, the "Hot Coffee" patch was downloaded over a million times within the first four weeks of release. Most Grand Theft Auto players found the minigame "hilarious", and the gaming media covered the patch positively rather than with shock.[1]

I remember all of this having been noticed by modders on the PS2 version before the PC. But... I owned two European hard copies of SA for PC back in then, first press. On one of them, I started to notice something was different from my PS2 version pretty soon. When on a date with a girlfriend, pressing tab let you attempt to kiss her. You were either rejected or met with enthusiasm, depending on your progress stat with her. At times, the girlfriend would instead give CJ a blowjob right there on the spot (the camera panned away a bit, nothing too explicit). This absolutely never, ever happened to me in any other version before or after. After the date had finished, I was then nvited in to have hot coffee. But rather than the regular cutscene playing (where the camera is focused on the exterior of the girlfriend's residence as shaking and moaning ensues), I had the sex mini game unlocked. Bam. My other versions were the first PS2 and Xbox classics prints, the second PC and PS2 prints and the Xbox 360 (mobile port) and  iOS ones.

A friend from Germany reported the exact same thing about his PC version. At least one of my CDs came with Hot Coffee enabled. I can say this with absolute certainty, because my parents didn't have internet back in then. It was not possible for me to download a R* patch or a fan mod.
