How much have missions been nerfed in the Definitive Edition? Is the game easier overall?

Recommended Posts

Seems like the missions are so much more do-able that I don't rip my hair out. For example, I always found the Life's A Beach dance mission hard on the original. Here, it seems things are revamped where as long as you know what to do, its not hard.

I'm on the home burglary side missions right now. Very well-thought and seemingly revamped mechanics. Checkpoints and everything are in main missions too.

I'm not gonna be playing these but doesn't it feel like you've put it on easy mode/"cheating" to play the same missions but they're way easier/way less of a challenge? I feel like it would be dull and unsatisfying to complete, unless you'd never played the originals.

Why won't you play these?

Don't have a current console, I have the originals and would rather play them, and they look like hot garbage to me lol. Still curious to know about them though.

I'm glad Drive-By was improved. The obvious mission was much, much easier. All I had to do was follow the damn train, CJ.

All I had to do was move the camera and press LMB. Done. CJ shot in the right direction, no more weird sh*t with Q/E and looking left or right. It was infuriating back then and really imprecise.

Weirdly though enemies appear to be much more accurate in some missions. I was watching a speed-run streamer run through SA:DE, and a lot of the strats he used to use where he just ran past enemies in missions doesn't work anymore without him getting absolutely obliterated by gunfire. Definitely seems like enemies are more accurate. But at the same time, our NPC allies appear to also be more accurate and damaging in missions where they're with you.

Tell me you watch Joshimuz without telling me you watch Joshimuz.

The AI does seem a little better in places, but I don't think the NPC aiming reduction works when you're on a motorcycle anymore. I just tried Gray Imports where I usually use an NRG500 or other motorcycle to shoot the lock and weave my way through the units to get to the upstairs office. They absolutely butchered me. If it hadn't have been for the two armor pick-ups I wouldn't have made it through. I lost my bike in the office and had to gun down the Russian businessman the intended way. I completed the mission but it was unexpectedly tense.
