Much like previous game releases, you may not directly share unmodded files directly from the game in this topic, thanks!

Surprise. As you say the missions can work well. He said 'can' because while porting my mod I realized there are problems:
1.- External scripts tend to crash the game a lot when executing. For example, playing a casino game, playing the dance minigame, starting a lowrider challenge, among others.
2.- All the variables have changed, and that is usually a big problem when trying to port a mod as in my case.
3.- Some opcodes are already unusable. Some do nothing but others crash the game.
An example is 0513. If it is executed it crashes the game

From the first I have to say that when this happened to me I thought there was a syntax error in some part of the code that I made. But it is false because it even recompiled the main without modifying anything but it still kept crashing the game
So I investigated the external scripts are "cooked". Although it sounds strange, I know this because there is a file in which the external scripts are stored? The files are scriptv1.uasset and scriptv1.uexp. Hence I have to say that other IMG files are cooked, such as those that store animations, mission paths (carrec's) and models and textures? (from gta3 and gta_int). Of the latter I doubt if the game uses them.

In short, modifying this game is bullsh*t. Thank you GSG aka Wardrum Studios :/

Actualization:

Yes, I was correct. Apparently what are SCM scripts, animations, carrec's, and "models and collisions?" They are cooked and the game if you use them. This means that mods that modify or add something of the above mentioned are not possible at the moment. What they have in common is that the mentioned file types were inside IMG files, just like in the original game.
Someone would have to create something like an importer of IMG files to UE4.

Oh, I almost forgot, here is the location of those cooked files: Gameface\Content\SanAndreas\GameData\IMG

Platinum Card

Anyone experience this error yet?

Spoiler

lowlevelfatalerror [file:unknown] [line: 3254] materialinstanceconstant /game/common/materials/postweather/mi_postrain.mi_postrain: serial size mismatch: got 1440, expected 1407

I haven't played the game in a while or changed any of the core files at all. Not sure where to start about fixing this one.

Not yet but the pace of new mod releases has slowed down significantly which is understandable.

Nope the game just came out 3 months ago, mod devs need more time to develop mods and mod tools for this new engine/game

Hi i Noticed some audio file mods are already released for san andreas, so somebody can take this in converted it for definitive edition ?

PLEASE :)

I'd wish someone remade this mod and add a ini to add new sounds and remove existing ones...

It's not that simple. Definitive Edition scripting is still very basic and the mod above used new opcodes that allow the use of external files.

pretty much, the hype died when Rockstar started patching and people started saying the modders where doing the developers work for free.

100 pages in the first 10 days of release, 4 more pages in december and january.

I've noticed that a lot of the mods they've been putting out lately (and there haven't been many) for the trilogy are fix mods.
I have to say that it would be better to create other types of mods (mods for entertainment, menus, substitution of models or textures, etc) because I WANT to think that they are working on correcting important errors.

It must be said that since the trilogy is relatively new, there is a lack of documentation about the modding of these games and as a modder, I want to say that making mods for these games is currently not an easy task. There are still many misunderstood things about how these games work, especially when they have been developed on a new graphics engine.

I could say that only less than 20% of the modification of these games has been documented.

And yes, modding is not dead, it was simply reborn so to speak.

Just thought I will post it Here, if someone is interested. There is a custom mobile Main.scm with mini games, story enhancement and other cut content that was removed from San Andreas (including Hot drinks).  Is there any one who would like to take a look and to port/pack  these files using Unreal Packer for  Sa Definitive edition ? I will leave the link here if someone finds this useful.  https://libertycity.net/files/gta-san-andreas-ios-android/169729-hot-coffee-mobile-improved-mobile-main.html

i hope one day it will be possible, this mod is very good

Is it possible to fix the broken lighting on buildings in these games? It seems like with the new engine they're relying too much on dynamic lighting and the games look too dark in some situations because there is so little static or baked in lighting on buildings.

Hey everyone. I've been working on an early version of a lighting mod over the past day. Currently it only supports GTA: SA Definitive Edition. You do not need any sort of reshade for this.

Features:

  • More neutral blue sky tones as opposed to the aqua vanilla sky colors. Edited for each hour of the day cycle
  • Increased volumetric scattering / fog effect during day and night (Edit: Removed in v0.2 due to flickering issue)
  • Increased indirect light intensity during day time
  • Smaller sun and moon size / glow
  • Decreased stars intensity at night
  • Removed point light from mission markers

I don't have much time to work on this since my GTAV modding project takes up all of my time so I've decided to release this in its current state. I will be free during the first week of December and will try to mod these games a little more. I'm definitely interested in adjusting the tones in GTA III to be more like the original version so that will eventually come.

Cheers

Hi Razed, do you have any plans to release an updated version with adjustments for GTA III etc in near future ? Love your work BTW.

Yeah I plan to release something within the next few months. I put the project on the backburner for a while in order to work on other things. I'll get back to it soon. I'm thinking of making my own website where I can upload all of my mods so they are not scattered everywhere on the internet.

Thanks very much for the response Razed, appreciated. Will look forward to the next iteration of this awesome mod. Also if I may, can I humbly request that you extend the mods to cover all the three games in the Trilogy in next release ? I know it is easier said then done, hence just a humble request.

I'm reluctant to say that, but apparently there won't be anything with the right mods if nobody is interested anymore, it's February now and soon GTA San Andreas Definitive Edition will be released 6 months ago and there are only improvements and probably 2-3 weapon mods and 2 Auto Mods I would have been looking forward to the mods, well then I'll uninstall the game

exactly, people are still making new hd mods for the original but not the definitive doesnt make sense to me, sure the definitive has a few problems but its a much nicer base for hd mods. Like gta 3 for example needs updated vehicle models but everything else is really nice

in og version you got almost 20 years of mods including model, scripting , missions, textures etc etc so it's not hard to understand why people still do mods on it , especially for s.a witch can be better at any point that the trilogy versions , would love to see more mods about it especially car ( as a car guy ), for III and vc i agree the trilogy got advantage as personnaly i always don't like to mods them for exemple for car who got wheels separated to model , but yeah i feel there was more hype to fix the game than modding it truly , kinda sad but the times will show us where it goes

Well sh*t, it seems that this update can break a lot of mods. I've tried running VC with Classic Radar and it just fatal crashes.

What did this update add

None of the sound mods (like restored radio and fixed garage door sound) work for VC and III. SA seems fine.
