Hello. I have to help someone who's trying to refund GTA trilogy remake. The guy pre-ordered the game on rockstargames.com

Should he contact Rockstar games via rockstar games support?

Help us :)

I'm not exactly certain of the full process, but seems like you can get a refund within 14 days of purchase if you contact Rockstar Support:

There's a lesson for the future - never preorder a game

Especially when there's no bonus content etc being offered for pre-ordering and no shortage of games. I'm kind of confused what the purpose of preordering this was? Did it mean earlier access or was there literally no point?

For console players, there was the option to preload so you could play the second it unlocked.
But on RGL? There is absolutely zero advantage to preordering.

Set on stone that I'll never pre-order from Rockstar again. The only reason I did so was to pre-load everything.
Not like pre-loading is anything I really need but others really do because their Internet connection isn't as fast and it would take them hours to download. (Hello rural US)

So yeah, this is over. I'm already sort of regretting buying it anyway. But sure, let's see what happens.

Part of me is still a little excited to play this
I want to see if the bugs are ignorable enough to play through the main story at least (I don't mind the bugs that were already in the original game as I already had no problem playing with them)
But I also don't want to spend money before I find out
So no preordering

I wouldn't go that far, but as @billiejoearmstrong8 mentioned, without pre-order bonuses? That said, assuming no bonuses, pre-ordering is now an antiquated way of assuring you actually get your copy of it when it launches. I remember back in the Vice City and San Andreas days, you had to pre-order if you wanted to have a good chance of playing those games on launch. Even GTA IV and V I think also had that scarcity issue on initial release. I will say that some of my fondest memories of playing really popular new releases, like GTA, was going to the store a few minutes before Midnight, on the night before the game launched, waiting on a line, getting my copy, then going home and playing it like a fiend, and often stumbling into work the next day bleary-eyed. Good times! Back then, you didn't want to be left out in the cold waiting for the second and third shipments of the shiny, new GTA game while all your friends were playing their copy. So you took the gamble and hoped the game was going to b great, if you wanted the game on launch day.

But pre-ordering now? What's the reasoning? Steam or PSN might run out of electrons?

That said, money isn't a huge issue to me, and hasn't been for a while, so there are games I pre order. Ratchet & Clank, Spider-Man games, New GTA games, Saints Row, and if Burnout Paradise ever got a sequel, why not. But most games these days come with pre-order bonuses to entice players. What possible motivation was there to pre-order 20 year old PS2 games with zero pre-order bonuses? But I knew these games had some serious question marks over their heads, and almost everything I read or saw on the Internet made me realize this Whatever Version was a pass. I can't wait to read the reviews of this. Assuming journalistic integrity, I have the feeling they aren't going to be pretty. Which is precisely why there were review embargoes and almost no visual information from Rockstar. If that didn't put up a giant red flag, then I don't know what would.

But I guess people were afraid to wait to purchase on launch day because they didn't want to wait an hour for the games to download and install?

I don't get it.

Imagine the irony if everybody just got a refund and used the money to crowd fund a better remaster made by the fans.

Can you still play it after getting a refund, or is that straight up like returning a physical copy?

Has anyone actually figured out the refund process yet? There's no information online about how to go about the refund, other than them saying you're entitled to one.

... Anyone figured out how to request a refund via RGL or RSC yet?

If they have a section addressing refunds on their Q/A section but don't give any info on how to access it, that's a shockingly anti-consumer practice.

It would get an DMCA claim, and taken down the next day...

I can give you a recipe for the white wine chicken manicotti I made last Sunday.

https://www.bhg.com/recipe/chicken-manicotti/

Make sure you substitute the red wine for white wine. It came out really well, actually.

But in all seriousness, I did get a receipt. Did you check your spam folder?

I did yeah, every single folder even the spam one. It probably is a mistake on their end who knows.

In the refund I also stated that I didn't get the receipt. I guess they can know I've bought the games considering they would be visible in the library for them

And if I don't get a refund on their part I'll just ask them to give me the receipt and go to Xsolla to apply for a refund there
