Now, if they legitimately wanted the game to be like that, I don't know. I'd imagine they envisioned a better draw distance, since we got this on PC but not to the ridiculous extent that we are seeing on TDE. Not having any fog/clip plane absolutely crushes the sense of separation between the cities and often gives the map a weird feeling like it's too tiny. 

 

IIRC, the original game had a clip/draw distance of about 800m max. With P2DFX you can extend this to 1600, 2100 or even more. That would be enough for you to see the LS beach from the top of the US Bank Tower. 

 

However, what GSG/Rockstar has done here is extend it to 9999 or just disable it altogether without adding any atmospheric fog or light scattering or whatever it is. It looks wrong. That's the thing that hurts me the most about the graphics. It just ruins the original atmosphere, none of the "classic look and feel". Maybe some of the look, maybe some of the feel. Definitely not all of it.

Then you start flying and you notice weird holes and seams between the different LOD levels. The automatically generated LODs look weird and sound like a cheap easy way out to make new LODs. Questionable decision in my opinion.

Oh my god it looks awful. They don't even have any masking effects for the LOD's as well so far off stuff looks like melted goo, and pop in right in front of the player too. How could they mess up such basic graphics that have been standard for a decade now? The fog/depth of field haze was what made the original feel huge, now it looks amateurish laid bare like that. I'm honestly shocked, but given that it's 2021 Rockstar I'm not surprised this made it past QA.

The graphics are good in some aspects, but that's JUST THAT, Rockstar did a dirty, lazy job, ported it to Unreal Engine just to say they made a Remaster, to get money out of Fanboys, games are Full of Bugs (Not just the old bugs from the original games, but a lot of new bugs), some missions are unplayable, the characters/NPCs are horrible.

 

why do you think Rockstar took the original games out of stores before ANY Screenshots or trailers were released?

 

Come on, if it were EA, Ubisoft, Nintendo, everyone would criticize and curs*, but just because it's Rockstar Games, people just accepting something badly done? Seriously?

 

And Congratulations to the Modders of the GTA Community, who always do an amazing and free job, Take-Two has taken down several mods to offer something lousy for $60

A little late to reply, but it didn't lose quality. I've noticed that the audio has been evened out across the entire game. The audio is significantly lower. And while we talk about audio, from the article interview I read last night:

"We never thought we'd have to revisit these projects. When we were looking for the audio, it was compressed, as it should be. But then we'd try to find the source audio and we often couldn't."

 

Unfortunately really sucks. I saw people complaining about them not improving audio but with this kind of hard, not impossible, I'm sure there are many ways to improve audio with current technology to some extend. The audio in the classic is a sh*tshow, to me at least. From what I've heard, it's actually better in the Definitive Edition so at least my wish came somewhat true :D

No, the audio did lose quality. Everybody except CJ sounds crusty af outside of cutscenes. It's really jarring to hear CJ talk in good quality audio and then Ryder speaks to him through a walkietalkie

Ah, I'll make sure to focus on that later when I get my hands on the game myself on PC. Then I'll hear it better through my headset. Should've mentioned I based this of videos and streams

Does the DE at least have surround sound? Playing that mobile port on Xbox One really hurt my ears, because you were able to hear car noises either on your right or on your left ear (or other noises), depending on where the car drove/stood (or the noise came from) (is mono sound the right word for that? not an expert sounding like an idiot, lol ^^).

seems like they dumbed down some missions

 

yesterday I saw a clip of the low rider challenge, fewer buttom prompts and higher point rewards - guy playing wasn't even trying and got like 7000 points

 

watching someone streaming zero missions now, the rc plane has a ridiculous amount of fuel

Is there seriously no safe zone/screen adjustment? I cannot believe they used their sh*tty mobile ports as a base for these… surely they could have used the PS2 versions as the base right?

I'm shocked there is no low hanging cloud or mist. Why not? Anyone experienced in game development/Unreal know how plausible it would be to add some cloud/atmosphere through an update? Any possible reasons why they left it out. A nice haze lingering between the cities to break up the map would be nice. 

 

Without the cloud and mist it's like when you are sitting in a pub with romantic low-lighting and then the pub turning on the house lights because they are closing. The illusion is gone. The life and soul is sucked out of the place. 

 

I'm starting to wonder if Grove Street Games actually care for essence of GTA.

The pop in in the desert is insane. I had the entire military base pop in out of thin air, not to mention all the boulders and stuff

 

Any boots that go up CJ's calf (Cowboy Boots, Boxing shoes ect.) replace your pants with some weird grey texture

tbh I have san andreas on my ps3 AND ps4, i really just wanted a version for my nintendo switch on the go....other than being able to see the entire map, its seems good enough for me

just waiting to see if the jetpack, early access glitch still works...

I don't think it was on the old PC and PS 2 version like that, it has been broken since the mobile and PS 3 ports. I could be wrong, need to revisit that mechanic.

They aren't under any real pressure, at least technically. The clouds accentuated the poor draw distance by giving the illusion that clouds, not technical limitations, were obscuring your view. Now, since everyone is happy with reflections and a beaming, porcelain white skybox, you don't have to put in that extra effort; they have no idea what's it like to build a world with their backs against the wall. They neglected the original atmosphere of the game, thinking it was decorative and not the glue keeping the game together.

I probably say the truth when GSG actually didnt get what made these games great and god tier level in years of release.


But looking at team, the answer is they probably they were too young to play these games or never play these games at all or not interested in them...


Modders with passsion making sacrifices for lawsuit and kick in the head for their miracles at the end of day. Modders made these old games still interesting after so many years, will be these DE interesting in 20 years later?

Definitely not!

P.s.:T2 making really weird decision recently, with not knowing what to do with very talented folks from Hangar 13 . They are all out of touch...

Hello everyone.  Here, I would like to report two glitches related to clothing.

 

 

First of all, please see the first video.  When CJ wears a red cap, he has a beard on his face.  But when he wore the Skully Cap, he seemed to have shaved his beard 😂

 

Next, watch the second video.  About Rimmers & R ☆ jackets that can be purchased at Pro-Laps.  

As you know at OG SA, Rimmers is a red and white jacket, and R ☆ is a deep red and black jacket.

However, both have the same broken texture in this terrible version!

these issues are horrific and ruining the san andreas legacy lol, how is the remaster WORSE than the original ps2 version like, graphics do not make up for what I am seeing

Yeah, it just reminds me of the filmmaking equivalent of using a hazer/smoke machine to add atmosphere and then just removing it for the sake of it. I mean, I get that it was used to disguise poor draw distance before but I'm surprised it went over their head to re-apply it for atmospheric sake. If it was just a stylistic choice and they wanted to show off new draw distance at the sacrifice of atmosphere then I have to wonder do they really get San Andreas.

 

I knew the map would look smaller when you remove the haze and cloud. I've seen screenshots of it removed before through modding the game. Was there nobody from the original Rockstar team to oversee this? 

 

Overall, I from the outside it looks like they did a great job for the most part but don't f*ck with the ambience and feel of the game.

Lotta problems with the clothing

 

The green tint shades from victim are blue tinted

 

The gold chain (also from victim) is silver most of the time, seems to depend on your top

 

Like, did they think we just weren't going to play the game and discover this stuff?

these are the main reasons i would rather play a rockstar released remaster as opposed to a fan remaster, crashes and streaming issues. Nice to see these versions have the same issues :kekw:

Haha, yes but most crashes were because people were playing without the patch or at least I hope the crashes are fixed.

 

Currently, I am watching a gameplay of a guy who has the patch and it hasn't crashed once in the playthrough.

 

Streaming issues are not as bad as the mods but more like subtle or at least it tries to be subtle. It is like vegetation slowly loading just 15m away from you, quite plain-looking unless you get closer.

I'm sorry, there is one correction.  

The texture of the R ☆ jacket wasn't exactly broken.

 

I reported it as a broken texture because the light and darkness of the color was difficult to understand.

 

However, the Rimmers jacket definitely has the same texture as R ☆, and there is no doubt that it is a malfunction.

More holes in the audio which seem to indicate heavier audio compression. Insane high-pass which is usually discarded data, also a way of compression.

Could they not rip the audio from the original game???

 

If you have hearing issues or you're old and have your ears degraded or f*cked, it won't matter. If you're young or still have good ears, yeah, you are going to notice. Every 1000hz matters.

F*cking hell, man! I knew something is not right because the audio is really really, like really terrible! Very unpleasant to listen and at some point, I couldn't bear it anymore. I have high-end audio equipment so yeah, the headphones makes it extra noticeable how f*cked the audio quality is.
