Thank you both, a bit disappointed (the mod is better)

i can't start the game after the 1.03 patch, it just says "start" and then immediately switches to "closing".

original version and leak-patch version still start without issues.

EDIT: Yep, had to delete the Rockstar Games folder in Documents, needed to redownload the cloud synced savegames.

It's not a mod, it's Photoshop

17 gb like wtf the entire DE was originally 45 gb (as far as i can recall), now we got 17 other gb??!! Imma go toss my PC in the trash since it can't handle all that :kekw:

No, the 17 GB is the entire game and it makes you redownload it for some reason.

Well, most of the big bugs are stil present. The camera is still a pain to use. Flying planes/helicopters still suck. They just fixed the easy stuff, everything what made the game so bad is still present.

at least all the mods still works just fine.

Well it's an encouraging sign they're fixing some things.

Please nobody be a naive fool and praise them for it though, doing a competent job in the first place would have negated the need for them.

To play devil's advocate, that game in the reddit post looks modded to hell, can't really complain something is broken without testing it on a stock game.

Adding fog my ass, you can still see LS, the forest and Chiliad on street level from Las Venturas, for example.

Here a little example:

Seeing the forest behind LS from a city/casino supposed to be in the middle of the desert? No, not immersion-breaking at all.

They've only implemented that ground haze effect when being on high altitude.

Jesus christ. Hopefully they will further improve on this, and also reintroduce effects like heat haze.

This. Has it really gotten to the point where developers/publishers are praised for fixing things that SHOULD have been that way on release?

That draw distance still looks sh*t, btw. A little haze effect can only do so much when you can still see Mount Chiliad from Grove Street.

Nah, you should be able to see the peak of Mt. Chilliad and nothing else beyond LS.

Too much to improve that way.

The mod isn't perfect either, I would cover all of Chiliad but it's still way better than this makeshift attempt. It will still need some fixing.

I'm in the middle of a prototype week at my company and I'm seeing some juicy patch notes. Definitely have to check it out this weekend!

I'm sitting here at the Gant Bride, right by Jizzy's place, and I'm just looking at the Big Ear from here and it looks so big from all the way over here, like couldn't they at least use some depth of feild camera tricks to make the distant objects look farther away if we have to see them or something? It looks like its just right over there and it should look like its way out there in the desert, it just doesn't look right!

Looking at videos and streams right now. Am I the only one who thinks the introduced ground haze looks lazy and ugly? It's monotone as hell, simply "thrown in there", without any additional effects or details. Doesn't look natural at all. Better than without, yeah, but hell, it doesn't look good either (only in some rare shots and weather situations it looked kinda decent to me), and it doesn't cover enough of the map. I don't want to see SF, Chiliad, LV from Los Santos. I neither want to see Bone County from the forest areas or from SF or from LS, nor the other way round. Don't the developers or the guys who fix this mess have any ambitions to improve the atmosphere? Has NONE of them played the PS2/Xbox/PC-version? Hell, how in the world can this be a design decision? The lack of effects, heat haze, fog, and the ridiculously high draw distance, I can't get that into my f*cking head. What went into their mind?

They should look back at the PS2 (or even OG Xbox) version, reduce the draw distance, and introduce an improved version of that classic OG fog effect. I mean, this can't be so difficult?! The whole art style of SA DE looks ridiculous. No atmosphere at all. Please, please, please, fix this.

The right thing to do here is to scrap the entire thing. Refund everyone and actually put some effort into remaking these games. Trash street games should never touch another gta again and the fact that they allowed them to butcher these classics is sad to see. Patch it all you want the game is a mobile port piece of sh*t.

Did they do anything about some of the props/vegetation poping right in front of the player?

Anyway this is a good sign so far hope they won't stop until every single thing is fixed.

I'd happily trade draw distance to eliminate pop-in. Ground haze is not enough, they should reduce rendered distance so we don't see Chilliad and Las Venturas from LS.

Not talking about smog or fog, they need to increase the distance load for some of the props, as it seems they're using the same OG values which was made that way for performance reasons which is something that shouldn't exist in DE, some props are loading right in the players face in close range like this example:

1.png

and while driving on the ground you'll see vegetation and rocks do the same thing.

You're 100% right. I was just saying that if I had to choose, I'd rather have no pop-in than long draw distance, ie no Las Venturas in your image in exchange for improved loading of objects in closer range. Just make things in close vicinity loaded earlier and cover distant things with fog is what I'm saying.

Glad to see improvements. I hope they keep going.  However, I wish they would put haze for distance, not just height. I still don't want to see too far.  I don't need to see Chiliad from Los Santos.
