f*ckING RINIMO'S :prismkek:

thanks grove street games for proving some comic relief on a boring day

Imagine calling your entire studio Grove Street Games to show your love for the game and then completely botch these things. The truth is they only changed their name because it got a bad reputation for their failed ports in the past. It is painfully obvious that they lack the knowledge and the skills to work on such a beloved and groundbreaking IP. This breaks my heart. What is even worse is the fact that most people don't care and wouldn't even notice these changes, which is ironic, because with that attitude they could be hired by GSG in a heartbeat. And this proves how serious the whole problem is, when "professional" developers are on the same level as gamers without an eye for details.

This also pretty much seals the deal when it comes to all the missing songs. If Rockstar doesnt care and outsources one of their biggest IPs and if RSG doesn't care to give more effort why would they pay a lot of money for renewing licenses? I hope i am wrong here, but since it never was advertised that the games would have the full soundtrack one can assume that we still get the butchered radio stations. People care about the music so it would've been a great way to advertise that music is back in. They haven't so it stays the same, maybe even worse.

GSG should be embarrassed of this abomination and Rockstar should be ashamed to trust such an incompetent group of people to bring this to the GTA community that have gotten them to where they are today.

While I don't want to throw any personal shade towards GSG, it seems obvious that this kind of project is beyond their capabilities. How else can you explain the dubious and inconsistent quality of what's been revealed?

And quite honestly, it should have been a red flag from the start once they were announced as the ones developing it. Why would Rockstar outsource remasters of their most legendary games to a small developer primarily known for mobile ports (including the infamous one of San Andreas)? What about the 10 or so studios they have under their belt who they do practically NOTHING with (other than possibly making them support studios for sh*tty Online)? If this doesn't show how lazily incompetent Rockstar is being operated these days, I don't know what does.

Am I the only one who doesn't care about this? So much has been changed and re-imagined compared to the original games, and the two biggest controversies I've seen on these forums so far are to do with shirt logos...

BRB.. heating up some popcorn for when people realize half of the GTA 3 Chinatown shop fronts have new names.

You would think they would be in communication with consultants at Rockstar to clear up any issues like this if they're unsure. Really mind-boggling that Rockstar don't seem to be concerned about fact-checking this remaster, and that GSG is just guessing things like some amateur mod job. I kinda feel bad for GSG, they're clearly doing their best, but Rockstar has become like a grandparent with dementia, they just don't seem to be 'all there' these days. Bizarre they would even outsource this project.

Why do they have such a hard-on for some random small time mobile developer in Florida lmao I don't get it

This I 100% agree with. Rockstar wants to give War Drum/GSG another chance to prove themselves (after the disastrous SA remaster)? Fair enough. However, they should at least have the common decency to assure the quality properly, which they don't seem to have been doing. I feel like this thing could have used another year's worth of development to be perfectly honest.

I see your point, but come on, just look at how crap the job is on that guy's shirt. Sh*t literally looks like an MS Paint job and "Rinimos" isn't even a proper word. It makes you wonder what else has slipped through the cracks.

However, not minding those renamed shopfronts, tbh.

On the bright side, if this release is full of egregious f*ck ups like the Rinimos thing, and fans make their voices heard about it, maybe it will push Rockstar to reveal GTA6 sooner than later to try to appease us.

No chance.

Would I be too much of a cosnpiranoid if I suggested  that the whole terrible idea of outsourcing this incompetent studio to take care of these gems it's a calculated plan from Sam Houser and other higher ups to ruin the legacy of Benzies' pieces of work (while making a bit more money)?

Probably not.

What's going on is that T2 is trying to get more games released, and by doing this, expanding studios.

My assumption is that Grove Street Games is going to get repurposed as a Rockstar studio, and we will probably see more studios acquired under the Rockstar arm.

This is a baptism by fire for Grove Street Games.

I guess I would fall into that descriptor. I don't particularly care about it in the sense that it won't be a game-breaker for me, and I'll still enjoy playing it.

If I were hired by GSG to recreate a game from this franchise, I wouldn't be changing things because that would generate more work for myself. The textures are already there with names. I don't need the extra work of making up new names. So, I don't really care about this, but I am a long-time GTA player, and I would feel it was my responsibility to get as much detail true to the original as possible for other long-time fans like myself.

This is what GSG should be doing. But then I do consider myself somewhat of a perfectionist. That can be a curse as well as a blessing, unfortunately.

I get were you're coming from. The only thing i disagree with is when it comes to this small things being dealbreakers. When there are a lot of "tiny" problems they could form a big problem and become a giant dealbreaker. "Cyberpunk 2077" pretty much proved that. I cannot drive 10 minutes in that game without noticing all of these bugs or oversights... Let's hope the amount of changed or screwed up details is held to a minimum here. But i have a bad feeling about this. I have no faith in War Drum studios at all. Thank god i didn't preorder. I will wait for gameplay on release from people. When there are still many songs missing, like Michael Jackson in VC, i won't buy this game at all. This is where i draw the line. If you want my 60 bucks, bring your a-game.

Understandable. If there are enough of these small changes, you won't be able to do anything around the city without being reminded of them.

With all of this said, I'm now wondering what the Rimmers jacket in ProLaps will say, because it literally says "Rimmers Jacket" as the name. :cringekek:

Maybe these things are changed on purpose. Prolaps and Rimmers are coincidentially both references to very adult stuff. I don't believe in coincidences in this case. I think they toned down this stuff on purpose to appeal to a younger audience. The same way as they have made all the depressing and undersaturated scenes (Ryder in his kitchen) brighter and more colorful. All the apartments in GTA SA had that filthy crackhouse atmosphere to it. In all of these gifs they changed the colors, especially in CJs house. Now the atmosphere is completely different. Turning blueish and faded wallpapers into bright and very vibrant purple ones is just one example. I don't like that. When CJ comes home he looks into a faded past and sees a depressing present. Now it looks optimistic. It deforms the atmosphere. Their job was to capture the original spirit while using modern technology. I think in the end it is clear that these DEs were designed to be more "attractive" to the eye, even when some setpieces were grim and gritty on purpose. Good for people that love themselfs colorful interiors, but not my kind of tea in a game like GTA SA. Fits more with VC.

Maybe it's a mistake done by the OCR software that GSG was using.

Either that, or the people at GSG really hate double entendres.

I had the same feelings when looking at those pics. The old interiors were pretty gritty but had something real about them. It's a ghetto, a place with rampant drug use and crime, it should be dark and look hopeless, which fits with CJ's arc of trying to crawl out of that hole. The new shots look likes they moved to some gentrified neighborhood where the grass is always green.

I didn't know that rimmers even exist!

Not all of the definitive edition players are long time gta fans. They're not gonna hate the game because of a simple shirt. Not all of the players are concerned this thing

Sorry but I think this is reaching. They might have changed the colours etc partly for that reason but the game is still full of adult content and references and is still rated for 17/18 year olds (depending on the country). Changing references that are as small and unnoticeable as that isn't going to make a single bit of difference to how many kids/parents buy the game when they won't even know about it and the rating is still the same. Half of the store names/team names etc in the game have sexual references like that so it's not at all unusual for two of the ones they screwed up to happen to be among them. Also if they were going to purposely change the "Rimmers" name they would pick another like, real word, not just a nonsense collection of letters.

This thing could actually be one of two. Either some more stupid censorship since Rimmer's has two meanings (one dirt). Or it could be a "retcon" since rimmers already exist as a glasses and Rinimo's could be a sponsor rather than team name. Also no sports team in GTA V with that name.

I'm planning on staying neutral in the great GTA Community War and I'm just gonna play the games naked, my mental health doesn't need the inevitable bickering (with all due respect). I'll be back in a week or so.

But yeah, it's still Rimmers. Must've been some weird ass cutscene bug or a placeholder. Still, bizarre as hell, especially since the character model itself looks good.
