MasHeRs
During Installation of Vice City [PC] I am getting a Component Transfer Error dealing with DirectX 9, the message is a "Cyclic Redundancy Error". This occurs 3/4 the way into installation, right when the game is trying to redistribute directX. I have phoned Take2Support I have written 2 different emails including all info requested and also a screen shot showing the exact error message. They have replied with very poor information and support. I have had the game since Sat. May 17th and now its been almost a week and I still havent been able to Install. I was given the advice to update DirectX from Take2Support which it WAS allready done I have the MOST up-to-date version DirectX 9a directly from its site. The next bit of advice was to install firmware for my CD-ROM to make sure it wasnt a disc copyright error in diguise. Alas no firmware for my drive, I have an auto install program fully updated from the manufacturers site and the firmware for the drive hasnt had an update since its birth last year. The 3rd piece of advice I was given was to exchange my game for a new one, which I had to repay $55.99 due to my wife throwing away my receipt. Now I have spent $112.96 on this Game that I haven't even been able to play, not only that I have tried for a minimum of 5 hours each night after work trying to fix this problem. I still cant install the new copy I bought, , I believe Take2Support has given up on me cause they have refused to reply to my email. I am not sending in hate mail either, with each reply I get I thank the support personell and repost that the problem still exisits. Take2Support has my DXdiag.txt & MSinfo.txt files and they have verified that Audio/Video Drivers are up-to-date with the latest drivers, also my system (bought this year) is highly above the recommended system specifics. I have exhausted all known avenues and have now resorted to peer support, ie You fine Guru's of the GTA:VC Community. Please if any of you have experienced a similar problem or might happen to have a fix for me to try dont hesitate to reply. (that rhymed, no pun intended) Thanks for Any & All Support, MasHeRs
