CJfan9204 Posted November 5, 2021 Share Posted November 5, 2021 (edited) Don't get me wrong, I'm excited that GTA is coming back to Nintendo, but I feel like Rockstar should've already had at least San Andreas on Switch already, at least before 2019. Before this, they just put LA Noire on it and dipped. And before you say "NiNtEnDo DoEsN't LiKe M-rAtEd GaEmZ", Saints Row 3 and 4 are already on Switch, and there's TONS more M-rated games on the console. Yes, R* could've released the trilogy on Gamecube/Wii, but they surely had their reasons why every other platform was graced, but not Big N. Rockstar Games and Nintendo have always had a frosty relationship. Grand Theft Auto was supposed to be ported over to the Nintendo 64 (and with that, probably Grand Theft Auto II) but it was eventually cancelled. The original releases were also due to have a GameCube release, but from what I understand, Rockstar really didn't like the prospect of releasing the games on GameCube because their previous title Smuggler's Run: Warzones sold poorly on the GameCube. Hence, Rockstar thought it was essentially a market not worth aiming for (and the GameCube was effectively owned by the PlayStation 2 and XBOX in those days). Let's not forget Nintendo only ever got Grand Theft Auto Advance, when the other boys got San Andreas. Then comes the Wii era where the console is effectively weaksauce in terms of specs and the audience is a more casual market; no prospect of a GTA game, though Bully and Manhunt 2 did come over to that console. Nintendo Switch has sold extremely well and has a large share of the market. There are rumors going around Rockstar may be dropping more titles on the Switch soon.
