How auto-aim works on consoles during Slasher?

This is the main reason I stopped playing RDR2, for being forced into using auto-aim to compete with others.

I asked my question incorrectly. I wanted to know differences in gameplay between  PC and consoles. Because I play on PC

Yep, defensive mode helps a bit, but you can never be the aggressor in pvp. 
While I like I can do pve with anybody, regardless of aim type, I really wish we had a free aim lobby type like GTA: Online.

Depends on lobby type. 
On console we have two different lobbies, one for players you use the aimbot (Auto Aim) and one for players that aim for themselves (Free Aim). 
 Free Aim lobbies will be just like PC lobbies, well, except for the fact PC players just have to point and click. 
Auto Aim lobbies are like PC lobbies, if everybody in the PC lobby was using an aimbot.
