Can Modders Prevent You From Launching GTA Back Up?

I was playing online and I noticed that someone in the chat said that a modder could ban anyone in the game they wanted. Me and someone else explained to him in text chat that this was simply not possible. Next thing I knew my game crashed and I couldn’t log back into the rockstar launcher and my steam would refuse to connect to my wifi. I’m not terribly concerned because it is impossible for a modder to inflict a permanent ban, but how much of a loser do you have to be to just completely kick a random person off the game? Any help would be appreciated.

No they can't ban you, only Rockstar can. But they sure can crash your game and DDOS you. They can also put you on their tracking list and see when you're online, and kick you from GTA Online.

DDOSsing someone is a federal crime, punishable by prison, but unfortunately most of the people doing this are either kids, or people with VPN who never get caught.

Unless you're playing with a VPN that changes your IP, you really shouldn't challenge or mess with modders.

I can't believe no one has been suing the crap out of Rockstar for their terrible security.

Exactly. Never understood why players choose to engage these “people”. Many of them are capable of doing very bad things to you, especially if you have weak protection.
