T_Jochum24 Posted May 23, 2003 Share Posted May 23, 2003 i was just wondering if there were any cards that have 256mb or are being made right now... if anyone knows anything about this i would really appreciate this..... but anyway now that i look at this,,, i think the way to solve all the graphics problems in games would be to make a massive grapics card a put then in all computers that are new so that our future generations won't have to go through what we do on our computers.. anyone agree? But unless you're willing to spend $499 USD, it's not a practical solution by any means. But to be honest, a 256MB card is OVERKILL right now. There isn't a game out that utilizes that much memory. As for the rest of your statement, I don't think we'll see manufactured PC companies, i.e. Dell, HP, implementing "massive" graphics cards any time soon, lol. Even if ATi or Nvidia put a GB of ram on a card, it won't solve any graphical issues. I have a Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB and I still encounter some graphical issues with games, despite it being the highest-end card out right now. Why? It's not specifically the fault of the card itself, but likely it's drivers. However, it's not always a driver issue either. There's also a problem called "Cheap-ass game developers who don't properly beta test their coding on multiple configurations of hardware/OS before sending the final product to shelves". But according to an article I read awhile back, eventually computer hardware will be advanced enough that upgrading will become a very infrequent thing. BroDan Posted May 23, 2003 Share Posted May 23, 2003 128mb cards are more than enough at the moment, I have a 128mb Geforce FX and I wouldn't even consider buying a 256mb one until at least doom 3 or halflife 2 Still alive, lurking in the shadows.
