Whetstone just for the remoteness and Bayside for the small-town vibes. Although, Dillmore comes second.

Tierra Robada, there is something nice about it. Not as lush as the southern part of SA but not a desert either. Also it seems to be relatively free of spooky things that plague other parts of the state.

I like Angel Pine, could see CJ retire from active life and just chill there post story. Also Mt Chilliad looming in the vicinity looks cool

I generally like everything of the countryside, but my favourite is Red County, maybe because a desert is an environment I have never been in.

My favourite town is Angel Pine. Just when "you leave" Los Santos and you are there after the cutscene, looking around and seeing Mount Chiliat was amazing.

I remember when playing first time, I planned to go to bed after doing the last Los Santos mission, because I had school the next day, needless to say I changed plans :D.

This. In my first playthrough, I had never really looked at the map of the game, and just looked at the Los Santos minimap on the bottom right.

First time being in Angel Pine after that last LS mission, damn, that was a "shock". It was completely unexpected. And R* really nailed the countryside - you felt cut off. Really. CUT OFF. In the middle of nowhere, a small town in the forest. Map design was simply amazing in SA.

Even at max Draw Distance in the PC version, I still felt cut off. There's barely any sign of civilization in Whetstone and Flint County other than roads and a few shacks.

Palomino Creek. It has a beautiful riverside and forest backwoods kinda feel. A nice place to getaway from hectic city life.

The Boneyard and the place just north of Los Santos. Third place would be the area of Back o Beyond with the "ghost cars".

red county, the part that's just next to mulholland. it gives me the feeling that i'm out in the countryside but still close to the city and not in the middle of nowhere.

Palomino Creek and Fort Carson are my favorite places in the countryside, they both have a few stores and restaurants (Palomino Creek has Ammunation, Well Stacked Pizza and that diner, Fort Carson has Ammunation, Pay N Spray, Clucking Bell and that alien-themed bar),they have decent sized residential areas, they feel like proper small towns.

I also like to just ride a Freeway or Wayfarer on the country roads and highways while listening to KDST or Radio X.

I wouldn't call them proper small towns. Usually the towns in GTA SA are the size of a village. A proper small town would be the size of Grapeseed in GTA V.

San Fierro is more like the size of an average town in real life, especially American towns. Nevertheless, I still love the vibes these towns give off. Especially Palomino Creek. Damn, it's been a decade since I've been to that place.

Yeah, compared to real towns they're both small, but compared to other towns in GTA SA which are even smaller, they feel like proper towns.

I also love KDST and Radio X. I listen to their songs on Spotify every time I drive in real life and in GTA Online.

Any of you guys played GTA V/Online and got lost in the countryside?? I can only remember getting lost in the desert mesas and in Whetstone. The only place I got stranded in GTA V/Online were in Palomino Highlands, and Chiliad Wilderness.

I never really hung out at it before this playthrough but Fort Carson is great. Really gives you that kinda bummy rural California/Nevada desert town feel sitting in the shadow of The Big Ear with that little burned out gas station on the edge of town and the Lil' Probe Inn right nearby. Buncha freaks and desert weirdos. I really like the atmosphere there.

Tough one; I'm still in Los Santos right now so I don't have access to the others country side and even tough I played the game before, I want to experience everything again in the definitive version. I've roamed around Palomino Creek and it's so f*cking atmospheric, it's awesome; mostly thanks to the mod who fix this horrible crystal clear draw distance but the vegetation is really great, feels just like back in the day on the original version but better, you really feel lost and cut off of the civilisation; never felt that in GTA 5 even though f*cking map is bigger.

There is just something, the layout, the tall trees.. I don't know what is it but it's ten thousands times better than GTA 5.

Red County 👍

This mod looks great. If anyone at Rockstar or Grove Street Games sees this, please add fog like this in a future update. It would be good if it was in III and Vice City too

Well actually, in those screenshots it was a mix of the mod and the vanilla foggy weather. I'll take a screenshot later today at the same location with sunny weather.

I extremely recommend this so that vegetation spawn much more far away!

Red County, because it has all those cool little towns, a lake, forest etc.

For towns it's either Fort Carson or Palomino Creek. Fort Carson has that really nice main street and a house with a dock and Palomino Creek has the lake and a chill atmosphere, as well as a cute house.

Dillimore or Fort Carson were 2 places for me that also took on significant roles away from the 3 big cities. On the one hand Dillimore as a suburb of Los Santos, but also Fort Carson as the little village next to the mysterious allusions to aliens and Area 51.
