Same doubt but that comes under Red County, I don't expect Liberty City guys to know that. 🤭

West  East is best imo. I loved riding around the ghettos harrassing gang members. Favourite parts are the area where Big Smoke lives and the north eastern part with the hidden motorcycle.

I don't think with the exception of the beach I really cared much about the other areas. The ghetto was always my favourite area in LS.

Edit: Got my directions mixed up and thought East was West and vice versa. Oh well. The votes for east and west are now a draw because of my error.

I prefer the eastern part, particularly Las Colinas and Los Flores followed by East Beach and Playa del Seville.

Thanks. I didn't realise I could change the vote.

I really like East Los Santos because it looks so ghetto and I really like that for some reason. After the Glen Park mission when you could do gang wars, I always tried to capture areas from the Ballas in East Los Santos.

East Los Santos. It has that "ghetto suburb" vibe of South Central LA, something GTA 5 didn't have much of.

Overall, that area just looked interesting. So many unique buildings, businesses, and landmarks. More interesting than Western LS which aside from the beach looked a bit too sterile.

I love the community feeling you get from Grove St. I love that it's in a cul-de-sac. You come home and there are always a bunch of homies hanging about. Remember there is actually a way for your homies to take your photo if you give them your camera!? Or when you point your camera at them they pose and say "cheese."  Also like the intro to the barbers where he remembers you since you were a kid. I really feels like CJ has a life there, before we experience CJ's return and after when you build the families back up again.

Missions where you beat up the crack dealers and taking back the hood make you feel part of the GSF and the local community. Also, tagging up turf makes you familiar with every nook and cranny in the Los Santos. But Grove St. gives me nostalgic feelings. The game starts there and ends there. It's a magical place.

These are my thoughts exactly – the sense of truly belonging is something not many other places in San Andreas (let alone other open world games) can pull off.

Playing as CJ, I truly feel a sense of increased security while moving around Ganton – everybody knows everybody, and the entire neighbourhood looks out for one another.

I can walk around unarmed and be at total peace knowing that if something we're to go down, GSF (and even the locals) have got my back and will rush to my aid; however, soon as I step outside of that invisible boundary? All bets are off, and I'm on my own.

That's exactly what a place you call "home" is meant to feel like.

———

"Ol' Reece still run the babershop?"

"Like a raggedy-ass muthaf* – he popped his membrane years ago. No way I'd let that old fool in my hair!"

Later that day...

"Damn, I told you he's still crazy! You jacked up..."

———

"Bear...? Big bear, is that you?! You still from the 'hood homie, or what–"

"Nah, the only thing Bear give a f*** about now is smoking and keeping my house clean..."

Well said. I never got that feeling from any other GTA. You always feel like a lone ranger. Although GTA IV was close - having Roman and even the girls like Malory and guys like Dwayne gives you a sense that you have friends and a life there, even if you just arrived. But SA really gave you that local feel on a broad level. You are born and bred there. Your roots to the area go deep.

Other parts of Los Santos I like

The ghettos have a very unique character and are quite detailed. Although not my favourite place in the game overall, I like walking around on foot just taking in the atmosphere. Also quite like Verdant Bluffs.

Playing V made me realize how much I slept on the ghetto parts of the OG Los Santos tbh

I do prefer the north side of LS, near Red County.

Like Mulholland with those houses with a nice view of the countryside and the rest of the city gives me a charming feeling.

Word. The ghetto doesn't really feel ghetto, except for the hotspot areas like Grove St., Forum Drive, Rancho Projects, Cypress Flats Alley, and that uphill hood in El Burro Heights.

Gang members don't even carry guns most of the time in GTA V. Add up the fact that punches do a lot of damage. In GTA SA, you could as little as scratch a Balla gang car, and everybody gang member in the block will swarm you in seconds. Wear green clothes, and bullets will probably rain down on you.

Would have been better if the gangsters in GTA V carried pistols and knives, whereas the ones in the hotspot areas also carried bigger guns to make them more intimidating. But, they reserved those for GTA Online Gang wars.
