What is your favorite part of Vice City in GTA Vice City?

What is your favorite part of Vice City in GTA Vice City? As a bonus, I also added a poll where you can vote for your favorite neighborhood since Vice City doesn't have has many neighborhoods as other GTA cities.

My favorite island is probably Vice City Mainland. Has all the major gangs, interesting neighborhoods like Little Haiti and Havana, Downtown, the Air base and airport, the port. 

 

Favorite neighborhood is probably Leaf Links. Looks cozy and the golf course is cool!

I can’t wait to see Vercetti Estate in the definitive edition. It’s going to be glorious.

Slightly off topic: where does the idea of calling it the "mainland" Vice City originate? I never encountered this term until about a few months ago, so am really curious. I always considered it an island, and everyone else I knew referred to it as such.

I guess because it is based on the real life Miami Mainland While the Vice Beach island is based on real life Miami Beach Island.

Interesting poll. I preferred the 'main' (e.g., first) island simply because it is what I encountered first (obviously). I particularly liked Ocean Beach because after playing GTA 3 whose atmosphere was grey and gritty (I think to good effect), Ocean Beach was a mucher brighter, neon-clad contrast to Liberty City. At the time, I think that it really captured the 1980s vibe. Hopefully the remaster will do the same.

The mainland island name is due the neighborhoods are based on real life mainland of Miami, that is near the mangrove. GTA1 Vice City version had much bigger mainland area than Vice Beach you can check the map comparassion there on my blog

For me it will always be about Vice Beach & Ocean Beach. I think they are the most iconic and comfiest parts of the city. Starfish Island ain't far off though.

This was my first pick. Although, I changed to Ocean Beach. There's just something about the Hotel and the surrounding area that captivated me on my first Playthrough.

Ocean Beach is obviously the most beautiful and iconic area of the city, but for some reason I've always liked the Downtown area more. It just has a nice, comfy atmosphere that I can't really put my finger on. And a lot of jumps and driveable rooftops. I also quite like the Prawn Island, even if it's tiny and there isn't much you can do there outside of missions.

 

It's way easier to name my least favourite area: The Starfish Island. Apart for the Vercetti Estate it seems like not a lot of effort went into designing it. And while the scaling of things is generally pretty approximate in the 3D-era games, to me it it always seemed to be the most off in Starfish Island. It's a small private neighbourhood for rich people, yet it has roads as wide as a highway running through it. It just feels off.
