Because GFWL doesn't work..? I'm pretty sure it says 'connection has been lost' because the game thinks you just don't have internet to use GFWL

Is there anything I could try to fix this? 

 

It seems like right now the only way to play the game is unmodded with Rockstar Launcher enabled.

Try putting this ZolikaPatch in your game: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/891367846075047947/986305897749966928/ZolikaPatch.zip

Remove the old one first tho that is currently in your directory.

The skiplauncher argument needs top be 0 by default in the downgrader for 1.0.4.0 imho. It seems like it creates the above error message with gfwl even if gfwl or rgscl never been installed on the pc before

When I downgrade to 1.0.7.0 or to 1.0.8.0 and then downgrade my saves it will not appear in game, anyone know how to fix this?

 

Edit: Figured out that the issue was actually the location I was putting the save into, %LocalAppData%\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames is where my saves ended up working. Hope this helps anyone else who had this issue.

Found proper save location

On 1.0.7.0 I have gotten my game to load saves and work fine but I have a weird bug I can't seem to fix now. When I load into TBoGT Luis will be invisible, I can fix this by loading into GTA IV or TLAD and then loading TBoGT again, but I would prefer being able to load directly into the game. 

 

So far I have tried multiple VRAM configurations. The strangest part of everything is that in game it is showing that I am well below the VRAM limit of the game, although the game claims I have about a third of my actual VRAM. Any suggestions beyond the obvious stuff?

That’s just GTA 4 being GTA 4. I have found though that loading the custom lobby browser then exiting may fix this issue, assuming you could access it.

yep its happened to me aswell but mostly when i load into original GTA 4, turning into a different ped using a trainer and turning back into the player fixes it or reloading the save aswell

Game seems to be working well for me on patch 1.0.8.0 now, although I might try to compare performance and stability to 1.0.7.0 at some point. Does anyone know if it is possible to connect to multiplayer after downgrading the game? The option to play multiplayer is in the phone now but I am given an error in game about being signed in, any thoughts?

Updated the GTA IV Downgrader to version 1.5! Download link on the main post

 

Changelog for Version 1.5

1. Adjusted window minimum size.
2. Added error message to the downgrader that informs the user that the downgrader conflicts with the d3d9.dll if the downgrader got extracted in a GTA IV Directory with some ENB installed.
3. Added error message to the downgrader that informs the user that the downgrader can’t be run from within a zip file.
4. Added MD5 verification step (Which checks if your GTA IV directory is modified or not).
5. Added step that automatically moves the selected GTA IV directory to another place of your choice if the current path has some errors.
6. Added a “Restart with admin rights” button on error page when a System.UnauthorizedAccessException occured to quickly restart the app as a admin.
7. Added a proper logging method.
8. Added a button on the final dialog with which you can open the just created log file.
9. Downgrader can now be started with a commandline argument to the target GTAIV.exe path to slightly automate stuff if needed.
10. Cleaned up source code.
11. Changed extraction method.

I am not sure if this is a bug related to the downgrader, but on both my 1.0.7.0 and 1.0.8.0 copies of the game I cannot go into the in game audio settings without the game freezing up and crashing. Both were downgraded with the recent downgraded update.

1. Fixed temp folder not getting deleted when the downgrader closes.
2. Fixed minor start GTA IV Downgrader over commandline bug.
3. Fixed “Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel” exception occuring on Windows 7.
4. Removed “availablevidmem” argument include option from commandline step because “nomemrestrict” should already take care of this.

This was an issue with Zolika Menu which has been fixed in the newest version of the Zolika Menu.

ive been at this for the past 2 days i had it done one time before but it wouldnt load into the game it would just stay on the loading screen, then i reinstalled everything and now it wont even let me open the game. i did all the stuff for the downgrader and it says it was successful but i cant get in the game. please if anyone can help you can reply or contact me on discord (OperationMars#8180) please

I have both journey and self actualization as a radio in gta4 after downgrade. Is this normal??? I picked no eflc music in 4 option. picked sneed's radio with old vladivostok. but i dont get the swine song in the first driving section.

 

edit: i did it again but used legacy instead of sneed. it worked. now i have less radios. but i sometimes get no car or bike engine sound

edit2: sometimes get zoomed in cutscenes. how to fix it? changing fps limit for cutscenes from 58 to 60 in fusionfix didn't fix it.

edit3: i've encountered the drunk camera "glitch" with this downgrade right after taking a picture of that kidnapped girl at gta4. gracie or something.

also i couldn't make independence fm work. Ive tried putting mp3 file in User Music folder in both documents and appdata. both didnt work. Do you guys know anything about it??

This looks awesome and very helpful, however, the backup part seems to never finish. I've tested it on both admin rights and normal to no avail - although with admin look somewhat more successful.

I'm on Windows 11 so I understand if this is the possible reason as to why, but at the moment I can't think of any relation between these two variables.

Message for people whose setting would reset every time they launch the game.
This method also fixed User Music doesn't play.

Try creating folder named Settings in the root folder.

for example - C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto IV\GTAIV\Settings

After launching the game your settings should save. (It was so painfull having to change them every time)
User Music folder will be created inside Settings folder you just created.

(Btw. i downgraded the game to 1.0.4.0, I belive it works that way because of XlivelessAddon)

I'm so happy i now can listen to eurobeat while going crazy fast on a motorbike in first person view

Hello everyone,

I have a bit of a problem. I fresh installed GTA IV through RGL, I backed up my install folder to my desktop and thats where I downgraded the game. First thing that I noticed was that it said my game was modded, which it wasn't. From then on everything was fine, I load up the game play the first mission, fiddle with the settings and exit. I launch the game back and there was no save and my settings were back to default. Any ideas? I choose version 1.0.4.0

Quick edit: the Rockstar folder in AppData doesnt contain a save, the only save files are in C:Documents and the non downgraded version has no problem reading those, but the downgraded version can't seem to access those files and it can't save in AppData location. 

Edit 2: I might have found the reason - the downgraded folder of my game is set to read only, I'll try to set it to non read only and see if that helps...
Edit 3: Folder keeps reverting to Read-Only...

EDIT 4: Okay, so I managed to fix the the issue where the settings weren't saving by manually creating a "Settings" folder in the downgraded GTA folder, as in where I launch PlayGTAIV.exe from. Thats fixed. I still have the issue where it says Load Failed. Starting New Game

EDIT 5: So I have a "saves" folder in the downgraded folder it does contain the saves that I have made, only problem is that the game can't read them when I reload it and it goes back to Load Failed. Starting New Game.

EDIT 6: Still no luck. I can save and reload a save during the same play session, but If I save, exit and launch the game again I can't see the saves from the previous play session even if they are in the "saves" folder in the root directory.

Game doesn't launch. Pops up in the task bar for 5 seconds then closes. Fresh install, downgrade applied successfully. Downgraded to 1.0.7. Not really sure why it's not working.

Still getting errors with SecuLauncher regardless of what I do. It's unfortunately looking hopeless.

 

Have done things EXACTLY the way It's written down. Had completely clean installs (Uninstalled the game, perm deleted folders in steamapps, uninstalled anything R* related in control panel) etc, but still to no avail.

Edit: I also changed the values of the Launch attribute in the ZolikaPatch, but this did not do anything either. Tried both 1 and 0 as values, neither made any difference.

I'm having the same issue as Half-Matthew 3, except I am using version 1.0.7. It only seems to impact the Sneed version, so I'm not sure what to do. I've deleted fusion and col, as well as xlive. No matter what I seem to get a black screen or other issues that prevent start-up.

Hey guys, does downgrading remove this forced authorization in which you can't access the game saves until you authorize in Rockstar Social Club? (It works like that in the vanilla game, so you have to have you internet connection on every the time you launch the game, or you're forced to start a new game)
