If Steam updated the game it replaced any of your modified files with unmodified. Hope you had a backup of your GTAIV folder. The no EFLC song "fix" doesn't affect if Schweine plays. If you're run any of the music downgrade options Schweine should be the first song, although if you skip the opening cutscene after the song has started it will skip the rest of the song. I nuked my installation and reinstalled it from Steam and now the song plays! I'm not sure what could've possibly have happened before but it works now so apologies for my previous comment. Also I have night shadows - as in lamp posts and other static objects cast shadows at night, but I'm not getting dynamic shadows being cast from headlights. It's a small thing but from what I can tell the game is pretty much intact from how I remember it and that's good enough for me Edit: Went through Zalika Patch settings and saw why headlight shadows were disabled. From my experience, the update more or less did nothing to my downgraded installation. But still if you're unsure, make a backup of the modded installation should an update break it. Hello to all, I've played this game at nausea, stopped for many years, then came back to it. Originally have an original CD version bought in a local store, but as all of you already know, it doesn't work, so I had to use the steam version (bought it again some years ago when it was very inexpensive). Anyhoo, aside from this useless intro, I do have an issue after downgrading it to version 1.0.4: it doesn't launch! The Steam version has been working well so far, everything in high detail, the traffic slider is 100% and it's just beautiful to have so far zoomed in the dense traffic without causing (too much) havoc. I've chosen the version 1.0.4 because I'm interested in the graphics and mods, not much into the huge game changing mods like that police thingy. I'd love to just replay GTAIV in a more realistice manner, both with the weapons and cars handling. Actually, I don't even mind playing it in it's original graphics mode, which in high details it's still beautifully detailed (for me at least). I believe to have followed properly the steps in the offline "GTAIVDowngrader v1.4_2"; in the option "Select components that should be installed" I've selected everything, not really checking, I've just done a leap of faith, and there were no prompts to choose either. I've basically said yes to everything, and just let the downgrader do it's magic. At the end of everything, I've clicked on the button "Play GTAIV", and nothing happened. Tried again, nada. I think I've then tried the Steam button, and/or the GTAIV.exe button, and then... black screen. I had Thunderbird open at the time, and by doing Alt+Tab I could only cycle between black screen and open emails. After closing each email, I was still with a black screen. Had to reset the PC. When it woke up again, retried the "PlayGTAIV.exe" clicking from the folder where it's in, and nothing happens. Tried changing the memory in the commandline.txt, from "-availablevidmem 2048" to "-availablevidmem 2045", still nothing. ... any ideas? Tried changing the memory in the commandline.txt, from "-availablevidmem 2048" to "-availablevidmem 2045", still nothing. ... any ideas? install zolikapatch set LaunchwithPlayGtaIV.exe = 0 to 1 enjoy! it's because the older versions have SecuRom sh*t or something like that so it blocks it from launching because it's the downgraded Rockstar version it doesn't fully see it as 1.0.8.0 or any other version, it's menu is from Rockstar's version 1.0.43.2 while the game itself is 1.0.8.0 downgraded or any other version ingame and i love it like that. PROTECT_EARTH Posted May 25 Share Posted May 25 (edited) Hello, Not sure if this has been mentioned already but I’m having an issue with the camera. After I load my game, just under a minute my camera will start shaking, similar to what happens when a character is drunk but without the blur. It will settle down after a while but then start up again. It happens during cutscenes too and it’s making the game very hard to play. I downgraded to version 1.0.8.0. I have already deleted FusionFix since that was causing my game to not launch. Any help with what could be causing this? The very 1st downgrader that didn't include all these mods worked fine to make the game playable but now I got a new computer I don't have the old downgrader anymore. What should I do? I'm desperately wanting to play this game so bad you got no idea! I've literally been waiting since it was released for P.C. to have good enough hardware to run the game & now that I do I can't run it due to these issues I feel like I'm cursed. I press enter it pops up again and again, so the game won`t start. The Steam folder is inside Program Files folder and I cant` change that. As of right now there is no GFWL-compatible version on this downgrader, so yes it will disable it. However this downgrader works for GFWL, make a backup just in-case this goes wrong, then remove xlive.dll from your directory, then use 7/8 depending on the version you desire, then drag and drop everything into your main directory, and then do the same for the shared folder, and that should be good enough I think? ⚠- If you have any other mods (in the plugins folder) it will probably crash. IIRC you should remove FusionFix and the ZolikaPatch that's inside of the plugins folder as they aren't properly setup for GFWL, those are from THIS downgrader. I was launching the game with 'PlayGTAIV.exe' inside the game files until I noticed I wasn't getting achievements (misunderstood the SteamAchievements mod, but that's a different topic). I decided to try playing the game on Steam instead to get achievements but I noticed that it's telling me to update the game, and Steam doesn't allow you to bypass this button because you have to update to play any game from Steam. My question here is is it safe to update the game with the downgrader installed? Or what do I do? Please answer ASAP EDIT: It's safe to update. When I launch the game it gives me a message The connection to Games for Windows - LIVE has been lost. Returning to single player It won't let me start the game.
