cuban gang member
So i downloaded the gta max pack(thanks Toshiba) and everything in this game seems very good for a 1997 game except gun fight.you can hardly find a weapon crate and you will be knocked out only with a shot.the gun fight and aiming seems terrible. Because of camera you can't see most of your enemies and you can't kill them easily because of bad aiming.Do you have any experience about this to help me? GTA 1 is a hard game, but it's rewarding and unique if you can get used to it. So, as you've noticed, you get killed in one shot. You need armour, which gives you an additional three hits. You can find armour in crates around the city. One thing that is very important: after you pick up a crate, it doesn't respawn unless you restart an entire level, with the exception of a few pistol pickups. This means that you have to use what you find wisely. There is no Ammunation in this game. You can only find weapons in crates. To play through the game you will need a map. The game originally came with a paper map, and expects you to have it with you. The max pack includes digital scans of the maps. If you want physical maps you can either print them out or buy a PS1 copy of GTA 1 with the maps. Even though I had the maps, I still printed out copies so that I could mark where weapons and items were. GTA 1 is heavy on exploration. If you explore you will be rewarded with weapons, items and kill frenzies. I marked the location of every crate I found as well what it contained. To beat a level in GTA 1 you will need to earn a certain amount of money. Press F6 to see how much. You earn money primarily from beating missions. You may have noticed two numbers on the top-right, to the left of your money. One is the amount of lives you have left. If you die enough times, game over, you have to repeat the level. The other is your mission multiplier. Every time you earn money it is multiplied by this number. Raising it is vital for earning enough money to beat the level. It is increased by one every time you complete a mission. You can also find multiplier pickups in crates around the city. Find as many as you can. If you are wasted you will lose your weapons. If you are busted you will also lose your weapons, but your mission multiplier will also be halved. If you have a Get Out of Jail Free card (found in crates) you will lose the card and nothing else. Your mission multiplier will remain intact. Above all else you must avoid getting busted without a Get Out of Jail Free card. It is one of the most important items in the game. There is no army, FBI or SWAT Team in GTA 1. You can go up to four stars (or heads). At three the police start using roadblocks. At four they start using machine guns, which can finish you in seconds. The worst thing is to get caught at a police roadblock when they have machine guns. However, they only block bigger roads, At four stars use smaller roads when possible. Your wanted level never disappears on its own, even at one star. Furthermore, police can bust you with one hit of their baton when you're on foot. This makes them quite deadly. You can only get rid of a wanted level by completing a mission, getting wasted or busted, going to a Pay n' Spray (four per map) or picking up a police bribe from a crate - which unlike the later games completely clears your wanted level. The good thing is that you do not necessarily fail a mission if you get wasted. You often get another attempt. You might have noticed that the game has tank controls (so down moves you back, up moves you forward and left and right turn you in that direction). This makes combat very difficult. Use a car when possible. There are four weapons in the game: * Pistol - common but useless * Machine gun - this is what you'll be using most of the time * Flamethrower - powerful but rare * Rocket Launcher - powerful but rare, don't use it too close to the target or you'll die, armour or not Kill frenzies are very useful. Not only do they give you a load of money if you beat them, you also can get a flamethrower or rocket launcher out of them, if that is the weapon you are using in the kill frenzy. If you enter certain cars, you will start remote control car kill frenzies. Kill frenzies can be started on a mission, and can really help you beat the harder ones. Enemies don't shoot at remote control cars. Take note of the messages said on the pager and at the bottom of the screen. In the Liberty City chapters, the pager messages tell you where to find work. Also listen for the noise of you car struggling, If it gets loud its's close to blowing up. There is no visual indication of this in the game. If you would prefer not to explore the city, you can use these maps to find the weapons and items. I would encourage exploration if you can though. Finally, most of the function keys do something: F1-F4 - send message in multiplayer F5 - Change radio station F6 - Pause/see status F7 - Repeat pager message F8 - Turn frame limiter on/off F9 - See what area you are in F10 - Repeat message at the bottom of the screen F11 - Change screen resolution and colour depth Also, GTA: London 1969 is easier than all of GTA 1 except for the Liberty City levels. It has an increased focus on driving instead of combat. Good luck! Edited October 24, 2021 by jm-9 ThermalSmoke and cuban gang member
