It is actually hot garbage.

I did not ever think I would say it: GTA IV, the BEST game in the GTA series, is hot garbage.

When I did not have a life, it was paradise. When I was a degenerate bedroom dwelling loser who knew things could be better, it was a real place. A place where I could follow prompts & adore great art. Great art it is. A great game it is not.

A great story, yes. A great adventure, sure. Something someone with his own life can enjoy? No. Just no. It is hot garbage & hard to even enjoy. The same is true for GTA V & so is the case for the old games - it is trash. I love some games lately;

Hollow Knight.

Modern Warfare 2019 (basically, I guess, "cod" - multiplayer shooting each other games)

Bloodstained.

Even warzone, fortnite.

Fall Guys here & there.

These little fun games you can play a short time & get on with your life.

GTA Online started out cool when it first came out. They managed to capture the MTA/SAMP vibe for what, like, a month or so? Then it became a grind or pay to win & you had to lack a life to every make a fair & fun game happen. Just to jump into a race & play you had to join some no-life server ran by a guy with no-life who had a fully maxed out car that was better than your maxed out car while twelve 12-year-olds smashed into you with their maxed out cars & did not know how to avoid an accident to place better instead of crashing to try to "battle" you to the end. I compressed a lot into one sentence there, however many of you will understand what I just - otherwise it is worse than I thought.

The GTA story was awesome in 2008. Back then, it was better than the story of MY life!

MY life now is far more nuanced. GTA V is trash, too. It is simply trash. Looking back, I can see it was even trash then. In 2013, GTA V was also trash. It is trash. Cool, you made some models & made them move. Back in GTA IV's time it seemed like magic. When GTA V came out, it seemed like just shy of a masterpiece.

Trying to play these games today:

GTA V menu & loading music alone makes me ill.

GTA IV - my favorite of them all, maybe GTA SA ties it for differing reasons - is boring.

I was a very big fan. Some might even say I was the biggest fan of all time, provided they are even still alive & have not been wasted somehow by now.

The games are fun, good for no-lifes. There is so much more to life & literally absolutely nothing in them is realistic or related to real life other than a few shapes of some of the props & cars. The sh*t is completely fake.

What a big waste of my time to play these games like they were special, like they were some kind of revolution in technology. The media did not fool me; the media echoed me. I said so much back then; then I was echoed by articles on countless websites that "proved" what I was saying. I was a fool & those websites probably used my & the rest of us against ourselves. Some kind of siphoning of an echo chamber.

These games were trash. The politics of Sam Houser absolutely were trash. I wonder sometimes whether that is why they did not get along with Leslie anymore & whether that is why Dan left & his new company is not a Rockstar company.

You have to admit, regardless of what you think of these games, Sam Houser is a turd. Always was. Dan made the stories & he left Sam now. Leslie made the games & he is gone, too. What is Rockstar going to do now? Probably something cool, who knows?

What I DO know is that I could not play more than the intro & first missions in RDR2 before I realized this is corny. GTA IV will always hold a special place in my heart as a person who lived in San Andreas more than I lived my actual life & who loved the trilogy leading up to IV. V was awesome, despite being overrated. A whole different type of player - NPCs - played & still play that game.

You guys made a lot of money, Rockstar. I am maybe a "michael", I made it. I beat the game. I know I beat the game because the game is trash to me. I can still go play Hollow Knight & have fun. I just tried to start a new trek through IV. It just does not hold up.

I thought I would be buying the Trilogy & was very excited about it. Truth is, I will wait for a STEEP sale because, first of all, it is insultingly "upgraded" - the subway is still paper thin & the characters look stupid now. Man, I want to go SO MANY directions with this post...

Let us end it here: GTA was a revolution from 2001 to 2013. Top down was trash & they do not hold up - at all - to a person with a real life, my own house, my own lawn, my own riding lawnmower & money I do not even spend because I have everything. From 7 echo dots, 2 shows, fire tv to roku TV's, all 4k & ps4 pro, a PC with 128gb ram & 10700k + 2070 super to our new cars & on demand hot water & central air & ipad pros, airpod pros, iphones & water that comes out of my OWN refrigerator that I OWN myself - no longer renting sh*t - this is f*cking GARBAGE.

IT IS HOT GARBAGE AND ALWAYS WAS.

GTA is trash. I loved it when I myself was a loser. When I got a life, when I got surplus funds, I guess I am like Michael - I want a new adventure. I ALREADY beat the game & it has waned to the point that I cannot even enjoy it: It is trash. I was trash when I liked it. I am not trash anymore. I cannot enjoy it.

Just needed a place to share the truth & I wonder who else feels the same?

Thanks,

-Brian

Be careful man I heard that stuff does funny things to your balls.

I agree to most of the things you said. However GTA Online is not that grindy if you nolife it for week and a half. I nolifed it that long to save up for the necessary businesses. I was able to come up with $$ even more than enough. I could have made money real slow for a few good cars, but to buy almost anything I wanted, I had to spend money on the buzzard. It was the most useful vehicle before Cayo Perico. It's too much to talk about how tos at this point.

But, I agree GTA IV is a hot pile of garbage. I wanted to replay it after I sold my PS4. The controls are clunky and the cars are too wobbly. Niko's story would have been less boring if the missions had more variety.

It's a GTA game I can't nolife simply because it's boring and clunky. I would rather watch my niece play it. Although, I also play every now and then. But, I think I'd rather watch someone play the story for me than handle the clunkyness myself.

It's just the way the game was poorly optimized. It sucks even on the best PCs today. It has less features, and it feels like it's halfway linear.

TBOGT has fun missions, but I don't like Luis' character. Johnny has gotta be my 2nd favorite after Niko, and his mission strands are the best out of the 3.

A lot of us had good memories of it. I remember wanting to replay TBOGT so bad months before GTA V came out. But, now after having myself spoiled with GTA V's fluidity. I just can't stand the clunkiness anymore. As sad as it may be, but I have to let it go and move on, perhaps move back to GTA SA (def edition) until there's a more playable version of GTA IV.

Nice! I replayed GTA IV after playing GTA V, and I simply couldn't go back to the latter due to all of this:

I get your point. GTA V was somehow half-assed to make room of the PS360. GTA V has a lot of stupid things added into it that doesn't add up to anything. Still, I find GTA IV kinda boring outside the story. Same for GTA V sp. But, GTA V sp has a lot more things to do and more places to go to.

If they somehow fixed GTA IV's controls and made the cars less wobbly, then I'd rank it above GTA V a notch.

Same for me. Cannot enjoy playing V after playing IV. The driving and gunplay is trash and feels like plastic toy cars/guns, the atmosphere is horrible because everywhere is either empty or full of extremely annoying and obnoxious peds who are constantly getting scared or angry and screaming and running away for literally no reason, getting and escaping a wanted level is unbelievably predictable and tedious (it takes SO LONG to lose it, seriously boring spending so much time standing around waiting, and I also can't stand how you get a wanted level for doing things like standing next to someone or going skydiving), and walking around/going through doors etc is so slow and all movement is so scripted you feel like you don't have control of your character. V was literally my favourite game before I played IV, it's now completely ruined.

I don't think you understand what OP is saying.

He is not just saying that GTA IV is garbage. He is saying that all Rockstar games are hot garbage including GTA SA, GTA V and RDR2. And that GTA IV is the least horrible of all the games but still garbage.

This is not the thread for you to start nodding with OP, this is the point where you question OP's opinion and his sanity. Because this is the truth for him, this is not a productive discussion thread, this is him preaching that all Rockstar games are garbage.

And which part did I say it's garbage? I said it's a hot pile of garbage. I think it's you who should look up what a hot pile of garbage means.

Honestly if OP improved his life and mental health and realised he wasn't getting something positive out of the games in the process it's a good thing. Or if he just associates them with a bad time in his life and doesn't want to play them again because of that it's fine. It's good to examine things and realise what is and isn't good for you. It doesn't make them "hot garbage" though, just because your relationship with them is bad it doesn't mean it's the same for everyone or that the games themselves are bad.

In The Real World:

GTA IV is one of the best games ever made. To think this game came out 13 years ago, in 2008. How is it that this one was not released 5 more times like the rest of them? I know, Niko's voice actor cried too much. Still, it was great. It does hold up. It is not what it was then, however it was definitely a major part of gaming history. Sam Houser is still a bit of a turd & I will miss Dan & Leslie games they made with him. Somewhere I think Sam just got way too militantly leftward for anyone else to tolerate anymore. We can only ever know for sure when someone talks about it. Maybe soon, someone will talk.

I appreciate it. We do differ in that I actually do somewhat like the cars & movement, though I absolutely would prefer it be more responsive & the cars to have handled a little better, a little less floaty, while rolling less in their animation when turning. A few small tweaks would have went a long way. I feel like GTA V went "too far back" to "gamey" - halfway between that & IV would have been nice for cars, both games could use better on-foot controls. The First Person mode in V rereleases was pretty good, though.

Yes, do not ever take any forum thread too seriously. Amen to the RDR2 thing, now THAT game is somehow a paradox in that it is a modern marvel of technology & a masterpiece while also being an actual hot pile of garbage as far as a viewpoint of gaming for fun goes. It is an amazing piece of software & real time rendering & art - terribly slow pace. So hard to play it, despite wanting to finish it, I just cannot.

All in all, I think we can all agree that, just as the truth always tends to be, this thread was out there. You all handled yourselves well & some of you really got me good. Well done GTAF. Kifflom.

1: Well, you know, a bit of excitement & then on to the next thing. You are totally right, regardless.

2: I will be giving it yet another a fair shot. A Bully or Warriors it is not! The issue is that every time I try, I return later to pick up the story & cannot remember what the buttons are or how to maintain the levels of the player & the horse. It is not executed the best way possible. I got to the part where we drown the guy after the very awesome time looking for our friend in the bar twice so far (as to not be too descriptive as to spoil it for others, I hope you know what section I mean). I will have to start over again the next time I play so that I can remember what to do again because the last few times I launched it I did not remember what to do or how to do it. Maybe I need to play it more often? RDR2 is very demanding of the player. Maybe I need to play RDR2 & nothing else? Inconceivable.

Played IV some more tonight. I just got done shooting up & molotoving some turds in an opposing gang for Lil Jacob. I keep refusing calls from Vlad because he is an unknown caller. I am about 15 years out-the-game & I am sure any cases I am involved with are well out of the statutes of limitations for those cases, however I remember clearly: Do not answer the phone for people you do not know. Unknown caller? Do not answer. We are not in our phones from previously meeting? You are not in my contacts? Then I do not answer your call. I did not go inside & bang Michelle, either. There is something strange about that girl. Anyway, she did not give me the opportunity this play-through anyway - she beat me by 30 points in bowling. I went to watch some TV in the apartment & before I went up there Roman called to tell me I can do taxi fares for him. I am trying to avoid answering calls from Vlad as long as possible, so in my next session, I will do some fares & see what happens, denying calls from Vlad of course. I know it is him from previous playthroughs & I do not want to have to kill him. I will probably "have to" take his call eventually. For now, I will avoid his call. It is a shame there is not a "Who is/stop playing on my phone, yo" button.

It is midnight now, so Vanguard is launching for me & I am going to go try that for a bit, go to bed & look forward to the wife & kids being up before me in the morning. We are a 100% remote-work/remote-learning family now because we do not mingle with democrats or leftists/left handed path of satan people at all anymore (I even avoid certain cashiers at stores) & do not put our kids in any places where we cannot personally protect the safety of their bodies & minds nowadays. I am thinking of making breakfast. You guys pick: Should I make a Quiche or eggs & hashbrowns with fried ham? This quiche would have the ham, some scallions & Cracker Barrel extra sharp cheddar (yellow). The eggs/hashbrowns would be just that - not the home fried hashbrowns/shredded potatoes, yet the "McDonald's style" instead (Ninkja Air Fryer will handle them for us). Which should I do? Pancakes are an option, stacked with an egg. What do you guys think?

The breakfast thing is just a slight side-post, not even sure I will check before I am cooking. The real meat I care about is in the game talk.
