Dear R* Dundee, please fix the skin shaders and you are good to go!

Recommended Posts

The trailer looks good, better than I could have expected 1 year ago, maybe a little less thant I was expecting in the past two weeks but I hope in the distant future the Definitive Edition will solve all these issues by supporting full ray-tracing.

Anyway the only bad thing is the trailer is the skin colour of the characters.

It's often shiny and yellow.

I get that the original games have always been cartoonish but maybe it's a little too much, they shouldn't look like The Simpsons.

Please fix.

Grove Street Games not R* Dundee

The game was developed by R* Dundee as far as we know, GSG were responsible for the original remasters and may have done something for the new ones.

Joey and Avery look like play-doh. Tommy looks like my ass.

Tommy is a fine upgrade as long as they fix the skin shader that is all over the place, sometimes he looks yellow, same problem of any other characters, other times he looks a lot more tanned than the original (which is fine as long as it is consistent)

It irritates me when people say, "Hurr durr the original games were cartoony so these new models are great!" So? Just because they were a little cartoony (and that term is used loosely here, they're not that cartoony compared to something like Sims), how exactly is the removal of hair and skin detail and coloring your model orange like you're in the Simpsons an upgrade? If anything it's a crap downgrade, Tommy and Claude especially look like the rear end of a horse. Not to mention their Toy Story style models look so out of place with the map design and graphical upgrades they've given it. Clearly there were 2 different thoughts here that clashed, and unlike the original games, they couldn't be bothered to stick to one consistent art style. Well done.

To be fair it appears that https://grovestreetgames.com/about-us/ may be behind the remasters.

In this case I am extremely concerned on the final quality of the product and I don't expect the skin shader to be fixed.

They made a disaster with the previous remasters, R* has really lost its plot in addition to many veterans.

@FWhyKay they were always cartoonish, the problem with a modern remaster is that you notice it more and then their skin shader looks bad most of the times.

I didn't expect much from the new trilogy, but I'm not gonna lie, finding out that the butchers from grovestreetgames are behind this release made me really nervous.
