Wouldn't be the first time this happens, check the very last few shots from this trailer of GTA VCS, knowing that area, you can tell the cars are going to crash into the wall off-screen.

FWIW, you don't need the interior to match the exterior to make Vice City styled interiors, or just straight up use portals. World portals (a variation) are already used in RAGE games, basically a part of the outside despawns as soon as you go inside and nothing will intersect, and vice versa.

There is also fading of lights/interiors when Claude is driving in the rain. It is in the far back behind the train where they have added new lights in front of houses.

Most open world games including gta 5 slowly despawn peds who are far away by slowly turning them into ghosts. Pretty sure that's a common thing.

Yes, and that billboard had one in the classic game too but a slightly different texture.

The Maverick looks in line with the rest of the series; in the original GTA 3, helicopters had this fat and grayed out appearance to make it obvious they couldn't be accessed.

 

I have a feeling helicopters will be flyable.

Some observations based on these screenshots:

- Parallax interiors looking really good and add a lot of variety to the environment; it makes everything feel a lot more "alive"

- Car damage largely looks consistent with the old games which is a bit disappointing, ngl

- There's some real inconsistency going on with the car models; the cop cars have Vapid branding, but many vehicles don't appear to have branding

- Is that car on the right in the bridge screenshot a ped version of the Cartel Cruiser? Some new vehicles perhaps.

- I think the most important detail in the bridge screenshot is the helicopter; in the original release of Grand Theft Auto III, the helicopters had a "greyed out" appearance and were fat looking, and it was obvious they couldn't be accessed. However, the Maverick looks to be accessible as it has an interior, and it's been remodeled to look like other Mavericks in the series - all of which could be piloted (with a half-exception for LCS where the Maverick was semi-accessible). So, it looks like aircraft has been improved, a welcome addition - I wonder what's been done to the ghost town now that we have easily accessible helicopters...

- The lighting is incredibly, holy sh*t!

- Ambulances appear to spawn in random traffic now

- Traffic and ped density overall look improved.

 

Overall, I am really liking the way GTA 3 has been re-done, and I look forward to playing this.

Yeah, this is pretty strange. At first I thought it was a Landstalker, and I do think it resembles that the most of all vehicles in GTA III, but it uses different wheels, lacks the vertical strips along the roof and has different colour door handles. It also does not spawn in this colour in the original 🤔

The Cartel Cruiser also resembles it slightly and would explain the lack of roof strips and different colour handle, but the vehicle is taller, the gap between the wheel arch and tyre is increased, and it has the bars at the front.

So I'm not really sure what it is. All of the vehicles in the other screenshots and trailer so far have been original GTA III spawns which has led me to believe we aren't going to be seeing any new vehicles in the game, but that one definitely raises a few questions 👀

Is that a Kuruma in the bottom corner of the second picture? I hope that car spawns in Portland traffic unlike the original game.

Yeah, I thought so - but no, the helicopter in III looks less detailed than the one in San Andreas.
