San Andreas Definitive Edition Analysis & Comparisons Topic

The Trilogy appears to be utilizing parallax interiors but I could be wrong. I was checking through the trailer and I noticed the doors now appear 3D with some sort of illusion effect going on. Anyone think so?

@VideoTech Yeah, that has been pointed out in the case of Ocean Drive, as well.

The feature definitely worked when I used it, it is just not very apparent. Also, Carl is black, so his expressions are harder to see and the definitive edition will make it easier to see his expressions.

Yeah, I was going through all these and I think they're definitely doing something interesting. In GTA 3, they have lit up a lot of buildings and many skyscrapers now have much better facades.

A fake texture that gets moved based on the game's camera and angle to make it seem like there are interiors inside a building.

Watch Dogs 1 does it, Saints Row does it since 3 if I am not mistaken.

Well the image is pretty blurry so it's hard to tell but maybe they have a few of them. Those two blue squares makes me say they appear to be parallax interiors but then you have that blurry brown thing  by the rightmost doors so idk.

I really do think it's the frames doing it, I think they are popping out making the glass be behind and the frames are focused. Nice touch though

Another thing I'm wondering that I keep seeing in some of the timecycles shown in these screenshots - clouds. They look kinda real, it would be amazing to see some GTA SA flying footage to see how it looks - the old games had proper clouds up high so I bet this will too and that the clouds we see are actually real. Or we'll have to wait and see for ourselves in-game. :p

I am curious about those desolate areas near Chilliad and Angel Pine. 

 

Those areas will see the most amount of proportional graphical enhancements because there are hardly any buildings, so the remaining textures will change a lot.

IN fact, the amazing screenshot with the new trees is actually from this area - Red County.

Much higher details in the main buildings like the Los Santos Tower (far left building has had its roof extended to look more aligned):

Very true! Given the lighting and weather improvements, along with vegetation and textures I'm super eager to see how Red and Flint County look.

I'm just amazed by the amount of changes that's gone into this. I don't think Grove Street Games are getting enough credit for this.

They just did one major thing wrong (characters models) and people will blindly ignore all the rest just to hate on them.

Yeah, it's great they used this effect for the buildings, i like it. My original response was a bit misleading by calling it "cheap". I was still overwhelmed by all these changes and the only thing i thought about was the character thing :D

Coming from GSG, THIS is what I call redemption from what they did in 2013.

Again, if they fix the character models, I will be very satisfied.

What I like about the image is the sky. A little insignificant change the truth but I always wanted a starry sky. I like how it looks.

I think this new sky is also illuminating the world a bit differently. Like in GTA V, there's still that light which makes the city feel alive at night, it's similar here.

im just happy the moon isnt huge anymore. U would always shoot the moon w a sniper a few times so it doesnt look stupid

Also, the 12 phases or shapes of the moon were bugged but worked on PS 2.

I hope the clouds really have models like in GTA SA. The ones in GTA V are crap.

I miss that farmhouse. I swear I'm gonna spend a lot of my time in the countryside pretending to be a cowboy hillbilly.

@above, the people outside this sub would disagree a lot. hahahaha. I just opened up the idea of GTA IV in UE4, and somebody says it's sh*t just because the Trilogy Def. Ed. doesn't have HD models. Like, wth?? Just because these remastered/half-remade trilogy didn't have HD characters, doesn't mean GTA IV are gonna have em downgraded.
