Coming on here after watching the trailer has some what reassured me.  Having played the originals when they come out I’m still pretty conflicted.  I appreciate that this isn’t a full remake but was hoping for busier streets, more npcs combined with improved controls etc.  Time will tell

Did people forget that the original games are also cartoony? Making them super realistic would be incredibly jarring

the crouch in the trilogy looks more tactical than in the OG games. They actually bend with one knee and looks like they actually take cover instead of running toward the player shooting.

They have amnesia. I guess they expected a GTA 5 level of realism

I am not sure why everyone keeps saying this. Looks are measured on a spectrum and not on a yes or no basis. The games present realistic vegetation, realistic grounds, good reflections and then they add cartoony character models. The original games looked okay for their time, a bit cartoony but for their time I would say the cartoonishness would be about 5%.

I deadass spat my coffee out when I saw the transition to the new Avery Carrington. He looks terrible in my opinion. Over all I'm happy with what we've got though.

Honestly (and this isn't a complaint), if you told me this was a fan made trailer that was made by a YouTuber and were done using modified games with one of those graphic mods (Direct X 3.0, ENBs...etc) then i would honestly believe you.

 

This actually lines up with the leak info. Again, not necessarily a bad thing in itself.

I feel that they did a good job overall except for the character models. They look out of place in many scenes.

The graphics looks like a Pixar movie lol.

 

However, with such high system requirements, I'd rather wait for modders to convert these 3d models & textures to the classic GTA!

They added a lot of props and retextured environments/interiors to make them more lived-in. The scene below is an example.

These props like glasses, plates, cigarettes tray, the textured wall and other details are all missing from the original game. Apply these details everywhere in a large game with many interiors as San Andreas, and you'll get improved atmosphere and lived-in feeling across the whole map.

Was the crackhoe there in the original version? If not then new addition. I recall her from the intro in Beat Down on B-Dup but not from this scene.

This scene is probably the best looking interior shot in the trailer. Love the shadows too. It really makes it feel completely different and alive. It's just flat out better to me. 

 

I agree that there's spots where the game looks shoddier though. Tommy in particular doesn't look himself from every angle.

I think a good amount of people legitimately expected more realistic chara models. But the originals were cartoony and utterly bad looking to begin with. This is what you get when those are made into higher poly versions

People complaining just love to complain and nitpick. It looks amazing. Just hope swimming and climbing walls will be available for Claude and Tommy.
