I noticed that Rocksar Games became kinda soft in recent time, they are not what they used to be before. Old GTA games made fun of everything and everyone, R* was a company that didn't give a f*ck about opinions of critics, they were focused on making games that turned out to be masterpieces, even 15-20 years later there's still a LOT of people playing them. Nowdays, they seem kinda more focused on making money the easiest way possible (shark-cards) and censorship of older titles suggest their approach changed, it also doesn't help that Dan Houser and Lazlow Jones left, considering they worked on almost all GTA games.

People keep saying this kind of thing but it doesn't really make sense. GTA 3 is pretty well-known for having a bunch of content removed due to 9/11, and the Housers are quoted as thinking of not even releasing the game at all after the event. They also censored mentions of killing Haitians in GTA VC, and as some others have said, replaced them with gang mentions instead in GTA VCS. There's also the removal of the Confederate flags from GTA 5 with the 2015 Heists update six years ago. This whole "Rockstar don't give a f*ck" thing has very little basis in reality.

My two cents: this is sketchy as f*ck.

Not showin gameplay footage for 20 years old games that by now you could get in bundle with corn flakes is questionable to say the least.

Pics released are inconsistent. Some things look ok, most dont. Any screeshot that is not a wide panoramic view is filled with glitches and problems.

The fact that they outsourced the work to a studio known for bad ports in the past makes me even less confident.

Please guys, wait for reviews and dont pre-order. They will not run out of digital codes and im sure you are smart enough to be able to wait some hour to download the thing.

I just wanna say i have no intention to offend anyone. Yeah i like to meme a little on Rockstar & T2 from time to time, i mean no harm towards the community of GTAF or fans of the games either.
i never like resort to name calling or shoving my opinion down someones throat debating on a topic, even as a child i wouldn't pick that low hanging fruit, i do how ever try to be as Critical as i can be when i don't agree with something Rockstar has done, while trying to explain my concerns in a playful manner. If i didn't like the games i wouldn't be on here or buying their products (they'll have to win be back over with the RGL though going forward lmfao )

All in all i do like this community.
even if i disagree with your point of view or your statement I'll still like you as a person and respect your opinion.

BUT enough of this mushy stuff, lets get back to those dank memes!

Will Zombie Elvis make appearance?
Will CJ throw shoes at The Ballas?
Will people stop calling Tommy's phone asking for this Leo guy?

Not going to lie, I'm growing tired of this discussion thread. It seemed pretty cool before with the icon leaks and other stuff but once it actually dropped... Oof.

(Yeah, yeah I can just leave bear w me)

Uhm, I was thinking of elaborating more... Oh...

It reminds me of how much time I spent here back when GTA V for PC wasn't announced yet. It was one of the most unhealthy things I done to myself in regards to mental health. Really, it's not good. (I had other issues)

In the end it turned out to be such a massive waste of my time and I deeply regret it. Yet here I am, wasting my time again.

I'm also realizing how draining it is to read the buttloads of pointless arguing about things that can be subjective or objective about what in the end of the day is still mostly subjective (and also depends on people's money which well, why would you care about someone else's finances?)

Anyway, I just scrolled past the last pages, barely read anything, I don't think I can handle it anymore. I'll be gladly waiting for the game but I'll stick to other outlets for information. This here is sometimes comparable to a political debate. (Then there's the folk with superiority complex, inferiority complex, victim complex, the folk who blow things out of proportion, the ones who dismiss everything thinking it's alright, etc, etc, etc.)

Yes, I can just leave, it's that what I'm talking about. I wish this place wasn't so messy but I can't even blame anyone really, that's the internet for you. It's in most part a waste of time tool to sell products and spam ads in your face (while collecting your data, spying on you and attempting to manipulate your opinions with algorithms that work like a black box)

Oh, mega tangent... Bring on the bruhs. Have fun everyone, with the game, with the thread, whatever works.

I hope you get peace of mind going forward. be safe out there!

Would imagine the specs would be the same on Series S as X for these games. Or the only difference being a resolution drop from 4K to 1440p, but surely not.

No, it's stylized to a degree that feels like the kind of things you see in a dream or a picture book or a painting or a movie etc. This is what Aaron Garbut had to say about GTA's (and Rockstar's other titles) world building back in 2013 -

You can see this even more so in RDR2 where the entire artstyle is rooted in 19th century Hudson River School of paintings which is what makes it visually distinct from other contemporary open world games.

Man... this makes me even more sad that the Art Book for this game never came out.

Just imagine the amount of amazing concept arts, fun facts, and paintings we would've gotten from it, it would've been the perfect gift after finishing the game.
Sad that R* never been consistent with their promises ever since 2013.

So far Xbox Series S was not confirmed to be running at 60 fps like PS5 and Xbox Series X version.

And resolution you said sounds about right.

Lol it's funny how almost everybody, even the the people complaining will just lose their sh*t and play the heck out of the games in less than 5 days.

It's a good time to be alive people! Enjoy the fun, a "bad" model ain't gonna ruin the vibe.

Do you realize that we are getting 4k versions of these games? It's something we NEVER thought we would get.

Plus next month is new dlc month...

And 2022 might be the year of the announcement we are all looking forward. Smile people! It's a good time to be a Rockstar games fan.

Facts, I'd rather have (good) remasters with some flaws than GTA O bonuses and 30% off beans every week in RDO until they announce VI, that would be very depressing. Constructive criticism should be there but when people start whining and try to change others' opinions about the game because they don't like it, it is just daft.

I think @BS_BlackScout has put it perfectly, it's just too damn toxic at times I'm gonna just lurk mostly from now on to be honest. Cba wasting time arguing with some of the people here.

Simply don't pre-order if you're worried, it's Rockstar's own fault for not bothering to be more transparent with its own consumers.

Personally, I'm not worried and I'm generally happy with what I've seen so far. But I don't want to pre-order a product without seeing it work. So I'm waiting to see some gameplay before I buy it. I find the communication/marketing campaign around this trilogy quite strange (almost like they don't want to talk about it). I hope we'll have more information before next Thursday!

And people who aren't happy with these remasters can just go back to what they've been doing, completely ignoring them. If they are so bad that they literally can't deal with some problems and instead choose to keep playing GTAO and RDO, then that's their choice, just as it is ours to enjoy these classics once more.

It might the result of whatever blurring effect they're using for distant objects. GTA 5 sometimes gets that with the mountains near the city at night. They almost look pasted on-top of the skyline, but they don't typically look like it.

Given that the recommended GPU for the games is a GTX 970 or RX 570, which even the Xbox One X surpasses, and the Series S greatly surpasses, I'm guessing it'll be a 1440p 60 FPS experience. I think that's what the Series S was meant for, anyway. Not high-res 4K gameplay, but smooth gameplay nonetheless. I wouldn't bank on the Series X|S or PS5 having any kind of 30 FPS mode. The PS4 and Xbox One *might*, but the Series S should be good for 60 FPS too.

Have been lurking for some time, so decided to make an account to share my 2 cents, as someone who has worked in the industry for a long time (and in no way affiliated with this franchise - just a fan). In order, here are some thoughts:

1) I think this was mentioned a few pages ago here and there, but for games this big, and especially where a third party is working with a main publisher, screenshots are usually never up to date. The screenshots that you are seeing now are likely from a summer build, and we are in November. That is because, generally, not only there are approval processes to get a screenshot finalized at the actual developer making the game, but in this case, I am sure that all the screenshots also have to go through Rockstar, so the process is much, much slower. And if you have issues with the screenshots found online, and wonder "why would they not upload more recent ones", the simple answer is that these things take time, especially when the publisher is this big. Simply put, you will not have a look at last week's build 5 days away from launch. Not saying the game will completely change, but be aware that the last 2 months of development are typically pretty important, and that is often when things come together, especially in a 2 plus year dev cycle.

2) On the models; I personally think they look great, and before you kill me, I think you also have to look at the current gaming landscape. These remasters are targeting today's market, not 2001's market, and cartoony graphics have literally become a staple. Just go look at Twitch and see how games such as VALORANT, Fortnite, League of Legends, Minecraft, etc. are dominating charts. No, you are not gonna get 1999's Unreal Tournament gritty graphics in 2021, and simple, cartoony, stylized models are simply what is hot in the industry, for good or bad.

Logistically, it is also the smartest choice the developer could make. There is no way in hell Rockstar is gonna fund a full blown remake of 3 different titles, because that could take 6 plus years of development and a team of 1000 plus developers. San Andreas alone is huge, even when compared to some of today's open world games. The Mafia remake comparisons are incredibly unfair (and I say this as a Mafia fanboy who has finished the game 3 times), because Mafia is a very small title (20 missions, small map, no side missions, recycled gameplay shooting from Mafia 3, which can feel very stiff at times).

3) The way this remaster should be taken is "oh cool, I can play the games I loved with better graphics, better frame rate, quality of life improvements and much better controls (along lots of other features)", not "hell yeah where is my 3-games remake for $60 that would probably take 2000 developers to create and 6 years????". Unrealistic expectations lead to people hating on things that often are actually pretty damn cool.

I think it is awesome that we are even getting this, and it is undeniable that the developer put a ton of love into the project. What are people fussed about? 2-3 models out of thousands of assets?

Anyone can think anything they want, but, the graphics in the original Vice City were pretty terrible (even for 2002 standards, when Mafia was a thing), so any new take on the characters is HIGHLY subjective. It's hard to compare models to the originals when they originals where a bunch of textures thrown together (for god's sake, most faces were block-city).

I just think that nostalgia is playing a mind-game on many people here, and people are not looking at the big picture, and realize that any interpretation of a 2002 game with blocky pixels serving as models will make some happy and some not so much. Hell, I have seen people in here idolize a take on Tommy from a fellow modder, which I thought was not that good myself, so bias can play a big role in this type of things.

4) On the marketing: guys, this is Rockstar Games. This game will sell millions of copies on day one just for existing. We will likely get a launch trailer, but that is it. They don't need to market themselves, and as appreciated forums like this are, this is a bubble. The millions casual gamers that are gonna play this could give two coconuts about Lance Vance's eyes or Tommy's bulge in a tracksuit. Like seriously, lol

Agree with all the points, except this:

I think that even cartoonizing the characters, they could have done a better job. I mean, there is a "middle point".

And well, if industry have many successful games with cartoony graphics, that not imply that for have success you need to cartoonize the graphic of your game. More over. I think that they have success because they are good games, not necessarily for the cartoony graphics.

It's a shame that Xbox One X is more powerful than Series S. But it will get cancelled soon : (

I wonder why Microsoft stopped the Xbox One X production, it's a beast, my dream console that I'll probably have to buy used in the future because of this. :(

I'm gonna be honest, the original character models are so low quality and have so many artificial lighting effects baked into their textures to give off the illusion of realistic skin that you can't recreate them wholly without looking weird, especially when you take away the "detail" because you now have natural lighting that shines off of the character's face. After seeing Tommy and looking at his reveal photo over and over and comparing it to the original, it felt more and more like it was closer and closer to it. Eyebrows are the same shape, stubble is the same, eyes, nose, mouth, everything's basically placed the same, same dimensions, yet it still looks uncanny because of the simplicity of the model compared to the original, due to it becoming unnecessary to add artificial shadows near his jowels, eye sockets etc.

I mean let's be honest, the source material is so low poly anything but the source material would look out of place in a non-remake context.

The draw distance comparison to PC is cute and all but it's nothing compared to the PS2 version. (screenshot from PS4)

Haven't you gotten sick of GTAV's story mode? RDR2 was a masterpiece but it doesn't really warrant me playing it for another 80 hours, I've finished it 100% anyway. Same goes for any other R* titles that I've played before. I mean, I'm playing GTA O right now because at least there's tons of content there and constant event weeks that change things up.

Of course you can also play other games by other companies, but I'm strictly talking about R* games here and GTA O and RDO (arguably) are the only ones being currently supported that give players new experiences.

How is that even remotely ironic? There's an event week in GTA O for the OG heists which I play with randoms that provide me with entertainment when they fail in a stupid manner. You play the same scripted Vangelico heist that people have played a trillion times before and going through the same story we've gone through thousands of times before.

And what event weeks are you going to get in the Trilogy? Apart from its original content as well, because that was your first argument to begin with.
