It's quite worrying to think how some of y'all would of coped during the RDR2 droughts. It's a mere matter of days before this get's released. :kekw:

Or even worse, GTA V. They'd have done real life protests at this point. :kekw:

I think the unease is because of the overall unusual nature of this release
Announced with less than a month to release, no gameplay footage this close to release, being made by a dev that's known for a certain unholy port
We really don't know much at all even though there's only a week until the release date
And this coming from someone who actually liked what they showed in the initial trailer

This reminds me, I can't remember the full context but youtuber "KidBehindTheCamera" was doing a video about GTA V and I think it was delayed

or something and he legit starts crying and throwing a fit. he was in his middle 20's at the time I believe. I enjoy the games as much as the next guy but god damn some people seriously need to

go outside for some fresh air lol

I'm just spoiled and impatient and want to have it on my PC as soon as possible even if I can't play.
Although I don't remember very well if the files have names on them when they are encrypted or not. In the case that they have names that would be cool to look around.

My memory's a little foggy, but I remember both GTA 5 and RDR2 having their game files present with the appropriate file names when preloaded. The main game executables weren't present, of course, but the rest could be browsed to and seen.

since this was outsourced, the chance of VI-hints is low

Not to mention it's running in a whole different engine, so there's no chance of VI related files slipping into Trilogy files.

Our best bet for VI related stuff is E&E :p

It was only RDR2 on PC, all the files were heavily encrypted too. GTA V on Steam used Valve proprietary files for the preload.

New info: All 3 editions will have HDR10 enabled.

It's not really new info. Xbox Store had it for almost 2 weeks.

I got the regular Rockstar Warehouse PC download and I remember its files being there before launch. Then, once you installed the day-one patch, the game was ready to go. I don't think it had encryption like the Steam version, as maybe five minutes after 1 AM UK time, once the game launched on PC and I installed the patch, I was able to play. I think PlayGTAV.exe was there, but GTAVLauncher.exe and GTA5.exe were missing, too.

Why are people so hung up on pre-loads? It's not like it's gonna take more than an hour or two for the majority of people in developed countries to download it anyway - it's a relatively small download by today's standards. Is it because people hope the pre-loaded files can be decrypted and leaked or something?

You may all have 1GBit/s up and down, even in smallest village, but here in Germany it's a f*cking nightmare to download modern AAA games. GTA V with all the updates takes like one full day to download.

Sure, some places here have 1GBit/s already but not for cheap and only in selected citys. So i'm glad we can preload it. I can't imagine how awful it is to wait half a day for the download to finish and everyone else is on "The Exchange" in GTA III already :kekw:

Ah, yes, there was that version. Since the Launcher released everything is encrypted though.

It appears I had it wrong. I could've swear it was 7 days (inclusive) for RDR2's preload.
I'm an idiot.

Yeah, it's definitely got something to do with all the old buildings... Luckily high speeds were supported at mine so I could download RDR2 in 2 hours, but I know some friends' houses couldn't go above 50Mbps

What your lovely mother doesn't have at home, Mr. Capriani, most probably uses a CRT.

Allows for a much wider range of colour and brightness. Supposedly looks far better than a typical non-HDR display when implemented correctly.

You tried to trick them with the $1 thing, you got tricked instead. It's for Xbox.

Don't worry, same boat...

Games can look gorgeous and very vibrant when it's done well - you need a good TV/monitor to do it justice though. I can imagine these games - especially VC - could really shine with well implemented HDR. I'm starting to think maybe I should change my pre-order from Switch to Xbox or PC because I doubt the Switch version will have all the bells and whistles like that lol.

It won't be available in the PC game pass at all, it's just for Xbox game pass.

Yep, proper HDR display is a must too. Speaking from personal experience—HDR on cheap TV/Monitor is worse than SDR, it looks washed out and dim.
