  1. 1. Now that the trailer and screenshots have been released, what do you think?

Why do people feel the need to defend this remaster? Did some people actually like the mobile/HD ports of San Andreas enough to develop a personal bond with Grove Street/War Drum? Or have they been pressured to play these games by an older brother but never could?

because it's literally everything I've wanted in a remaster. updated graphics, check, updated controls, check, updated UI, check, updated render distance, lighting, and textures, check, still has the OG vibe, check (man I hope the menu sounds are the same).

I played every one when they came out and the poor controls are the only thing keeping me from replaying them constantly. I will be playing the crap out of these games, and yes, I am an adult with a job, idc

If preloads become available, will there be any way to hack them to see more about the games?

Most likely zero possibility. Preload files are heavily encrypted, just like with CP77 preload or even NFS HP 2010 remaster. So no chance. Even if somebody would want to do that, what time will he have, like a week before official release? So it's just meaningless.

I think at most we could compare file sizes and see if there are any files with interesting names or new that suggests something new

Preload files usually are archives with absolutely random names, something like "HSF2479TDVJ.bin". And I assume if preload even will be available, there will be just 5-10 randomly named 2-8GB in size archive files. So we probably wouldn't even know what they contain actually.

Wait, we can preload games?

Yep. It's been a consistent thing since the previous generation. And on Xbox Series X|S, you can pre-load games you haven't even bought yet, through the Xbox mobile app. This allows you to download a game and not have to wait to play while you download the game, once you are able to purchase it. For example if you have to wait to get paid before you buy a game. It's a very good convenience time saver.

I know that is just that my GTA SA is still 280MB or so, hmm, have to check out :)

Doh! You're absolutely right - no idea why I thought we could just see it lol.

Ah. Yeah, the pre-load isn't available, yet. It's case by case for every game. As long as you have the game downloaded (the small 280.2MB file) it'll just show up as an update when it's available. If you have auto update on, then it'll just download automatically.

doubt it will happen again, but back in the day when gta v preload went up on ps3, all the audio started leaking

What's wrong with the original controls? The graphics don't make the game unplayable. The UI isn't all too bad either.

do you remember playing games before thumbsticks? what's wrong with the controls is primarily the lack of camera control, but also the accelerator and brakes, and fire/punch being face buttons instead of triggers

The triggers on the switch aren't analogue unfortunately :( Driving will be similar to PC where you need to spam the accelerate button

I expect the graphics to be a little better on the release than on the photos, ho’bout you guys?

the graphics are fine it's the character models that need work, some of them at least

Yeah. To be honest, trailer footage looks like mix of earlier builds which are filled with bugs and issues while screenshots looks more like renders trying to show what's changed and not.

I think what I'm gonna do when I start playing each game is first just hop in a car and really take in the city. Likely, every few seconds ill let off a little "wow" in amazement like I did with the trailer lmao.

We might find even more beta content in the remasters just like it happened back during the anniversary edition.

Weren't all those GTA 3 multiplayer maps found after a decade or so? Maps like the sewer, under construction building, etc.

Obligatory:

I can't figure out the people who think that the limitations of old hardware and old game design are the charm of these games.

Are people really that hard into nostalgia? (I am into it to some extent myself, which is why I still consider GTA SA to be the best GTA ever made but this is a whole other level)

I played these games on the PS2, buddy. Now I play them on PC, and even without mods it functions fine. I can rotate the camera with my mouse, right click to lock on. Seems like a you problem. Also confirms my theory that majority of these "fixes" are just QoL changes so console players feel at home.

Ok, i made my preorder on Ps5 yesterday. I'm expecting rocksolid 60fps here. But the most interesting thing for me is how it will play with the new control system. It will definitely be easier.

Good Lord. I had one of the original Playstation so I went the whole gen pretty much without a dual shock. It was a game changer for me.

lmfao at comparing a console game to a pc game, even on pc using a controller you can't control the camera, admit it, the controls of the ps2 era were archaic, for MANY games, Tomb Raider comes to mind and for the same reason, lack of camera control

You make a great point which you didn't have to explain or justify - some just wanna argue for the sake of arguing honestly. I'm confident the controls will be updated to work like they do with GTA IV & V.

Very convenient that they posted the camera just far enough away so you can't notice the 2004 textures, also you gotta love that framerate

I love to travel between the cities in SA while listening to the radio, particularly riding around the countryside while listening to K-Rose. It has a magical road trip feel to it. It's one of the things I'm looking forward to when I play the definitive edition.

Hopefully, the next GTA has multiple cities so we can go on long road trips like in SA...
