been away for a while but I just wanted to drop this here for all the people saying Mafia DE looks better, the original game also looked better than the original 3d trilogy.

can you imagine comically small Liberty City with modern graphics? that would be ridiculous, textures and lighting is more than we could have hoped for, especially since we are also getting improved controls. all this had to be was an optimized 4k60fps upgrade but instead we have a series that they went over with a fine tooth comb and made improvements across the board.

Original Mafia 1 looked like GTA 2 but in 3D and there are videos of GTA 2 in 3D.

and again, comically small LC, with all the old sounds, would be incredibly weird with modern graphics

does anyone laughing at me want to explain how a game with characters with three times the polygons that ACTUALLY had fingers looks worse than a game with 3 polygons and mitten hands?

I'm referring to the world. It legit looks like maybe GTA 3 in beta at max and the beta version looked far worse than GTA 3.

not seeing it, not only is 3d LC oddly proportioned, Lost Heaven wasn't, but the thumbnails alone show that while they are close, to me Mafia looks better. sorry guys, no one is going to convince me mitten hands and tiny LC look better than the original Mafia

Character models definitely looked better in Mafia, but the world? I'm not so sure

Small thing, but BETA III had higher quality textures for vehicles and the buildings, most obvious difference being the license plate quality. Some of those car textures found their way in the XBOX port and in Manhunt. As for the city, some parts have higher resolution textures for the roads and such, that aren't used by generic.txd

I guess if GTA III was developed for PC, like Mafia was, and not for PS2, it would look as good as, if not better than Mafia. And you don't want to see Mafia 1 on PS2, trust me, if you compare that to GTA III, GTA is miles better.

The cities in both games are of a similar size but the empty countryside in Mafia is as big as San Andreas. 

 

Sounds surprising but the city portion is roughly close and San Andreas has far bigger cities, just pointing that out. According to my research.

the SIZE is similar, the scale is not, also I'm not even mentioning SA because it's already better in many ways that the other two in the trilogy and will look the best in the DE, even though it too suffers from forced perspective scale, which Mafia does not.

I have done nothing but provide specific examples to reinforce my position, no one quoting me has said specifically why they think III or VC look better than Mafia, all I've heard is "nah bro", please elaborate or stop quoting me

It looks better because of the graphics. I'm not talking about architecture and stuff or the layout. Just Cause 4 has a huge city but a lot of it is bland. That's a different game, I know and I know you didn't mention SA. I did it as a comparison.

I can't believe anyone says that. Mafia looked amazing for its time. GTA 3 got nothing on Mafia in terms of visuals. Mafia was the peak.

That'd be controversial. At least imo the PC version had better visuals than PS2. I am not a fan of too much orange. If it was a toggle it would be cool. Then both sides would get what they want.

lol the graphics are nearly identical, but Mafia TRIED to look real, GTA III didn't, so when they remake Mafia of course they are going to go for realism, while GTA III DE is going for pastiche, which in my, and many other's opinions, is the way to go with the trilogy
