Low key I think R* would really benefit from upgrading their old generational games from the PS2 OG Xbox era for remasters. Instead of being silent for years on out, and not have just 8 years of just online. It would really ease us not to feel those huge dev cycles. I’m willing to wait 5 plus years for 6 if that means we get older titles with a fresh interface and a coat of paint.

I started playing GTA 4 again on Steam to hunt down some achievements.

 

It really looks great in 4K max details and runs at 80-120 fps (no mods installed)

 

It's a real shame PS4 and PS5 don't have this masterpiece of a game.

Now I'm more convinced the trailer was from a much older build and the screenshots on the Rockstar are from the latest ones. I noticed that roads in Vice City were still using the original ones in the trailer but in this screenshot the roads are much newer and more refined, really hope we can get a fresh trailer which uses the latest build.

Imagine a San Andreas stories set in 1988 or 1987 in between those 5 years that CJ left.

We'd get to see Brian and all those other dead GSF members.

 

There's a lot of potential there.

I hear the code is messy, so maybe another unreal situation could happen. Add new lighting, parallax interiors and modern feature settings support and we've got a GTA IV Definitive Edition.

That would likely be a little bit easier to port onto current era RAGE but at the same time there have been so many fundamental changes since then...  But at least it's not a completely different engine. Bet GTA VI will have parallax interiors and probably even better.

It's even worse if you like Manhunt 2 or Midnight Club 1,2,3  Their old collection is divided if you're a console player Manhunt 1 and Red Dead revolver are available on PS4/PS5 but not on Xbox Midnight Club LA on Xbox but not on Playstation and so on.

for manhunt 2 i got a copy of it on ps2 but i wanted the PC version. and i had to crawl the underbelly of the internet to find it.
here i was 3AM going through shady websites and i was gonna buy it honest but the only copies i could find was from Russia and i didn't think i'd got the game i was worried someone would take my money and run with it.
had it happen on Ebay years ago.

thank god emulation and modders exist. I only played LCS because a modder ported the entire game on pc using the vice city engine and played a little bit of VCS on PC with a ps2 emulator, only problem is for vcs the classic gta controls on a controller suck. I still cant get used to A and X to drive combined with B to shoot, its just so weird to me. So i still never fully played through VCS yet

Had a really good experience with both Stories games on a PS2 emulator. It takes a bit of tinkering to get the games running correctly but in PCSX2 you can even do things like overclocking the emulated PS2 CPU and it does wonders to the game's frame rate. I have never seen LCS run at a solid 30 fps before and it is pretty awesome.

So you know, emulation is there for you on PC and it works great.

this is probably the best shot of parallax interiors that we have so far, honestly i wasnt convinced until i noticed just now. Details like this really goes a long way of the games overall presentation

For some the trailer did a bad job. As soon as we see some gameplay people are gonna change their tune.
