While GTA 6 (announcement) will be pretty neat too, we shouldn't forget that R* before GTA Online popularity pic (2015-2017) and R* after are quite different companies, yeah i tell obvious things. Their business strategy has definitely changed prior to focusing on the Online side of their titles, as we can see in GTA V and RDR 2. Not to mention that Dan Houser and Lazlow left the company not so long ago, and also Leslie Benzies too, but that was in 2015 as I remembered. R* Games Studios currently have like what, 3000 total workers? So you can say that only 3-5 key persons isn't that game changer, but for dedicated R* fans it is. And after all the things i mention. I just worry about the next gta title: it can be heavily focused on online, hell the worst case-scenario  is that the next GTA will be online only (really doubtful, but hey, like example: after good Fallout 4 (as a game tho, not the Fallout title) there is Fallout 76, ik totally different companies tho (Or now maybe not so different kekW). And it looks like R* tends to follow the new Online-focused games trend, as it proved to be more profitable in the long-term than single player-focused. Sadly how it is nowadays, but it is a fact. (I know that RDR 2 has an amazing singleplayer, most players only play single tho, but in fact we didn't see any slingplayer content addition to the game so far, it's just a fact).

 

Still this is only my opinion and guess.

 

And regardless of GTA Trilogy, like c'mon, we all knew that R* with their billions of finance and that amount of studios and workers can do much more (obvious things but), not to say less. Hell they can afford something like a total from ground-up rebuild of these 3 classic games on RAGE, the only problem is many of voice actors from OG games are not with us anymore and that with RAGE it will be more difficult to achieve that amount of available platforms (mobile ones).

And I think that the availability of DE on every currently popular gaming platform is again a pretty good reason for R* and T2 not to do a full remaster of these games, and rather to outsource them to some 3rd party developer sadly with poor record track of their previous jobs. More places to push products = more sales and profits, easy as 1,2,3.

 

So after all of that, I fully understand why a lot of people are not so excited about these remasters, even though so far it doesn't seem like they are bad or terrible. Maybe they even turn out to be pretty good, 11th November wil tell i guess.

No hate towards GTA Trilogy at all, I hope they turned out to be successful new reinventions of old games, I am now only worried about butchered soundtrack and censorship in them.

this has been effectively disproven by many of rockstar's actions after the release of gta 5, most notably:

- red dead redemption 2

- gta online & gta v are now separate titles

- red dead online & red dead redemption 2 are now separate titles

- the trilogy remake exists (despite not being expressly new, it shows that they still release singleplayer focused products)

I feel like if they relicensed the tracks they would be advertising it as a feature, or they would release a trailer featuring one of the previously removed tracks. That sh*t ain't cheap and they would want us to know about it in my opinion. Imagine how the internet would lose their sh*t if they dropped a VC trailer with Billie Jean playing lol. But yeah, maybe the heavy hitters like that are un-licensable these days, idk.

Maybe I'm too cynical, but I would almost be willing to bet money on the soundtrack being the same, reduced list that we see on the currently available versions. But if I'm wrong then that would be super cool. I can't see them adding new songs tbh, unless they license new tracks to fill the missing gaps from the current roster. To see old tracks restored + new tracks would be nothing short of a miracle imo.

The ESRB rating leaked a Mobb Deep song being on Game FM.

 

At least, GTA 3 radio stations are getting expanded and we might be getting a few new ones. But GTA 3's radio is short. 

 

Unpopular opinion, but if they did manage to at least replace the "irreplaceable" tracks, I wouldn't be too ticked off.

Tbh what artist is going to say no to re-licencing? Even if they don't want to be "associated" with GTA for any reason, their agents will know that appearing in such a massive franchise could provoke an appearance in the Spotify charts and stuff like that. The only issue is "problem" estates like MJ, even if they are the most iconic, it's up to the family etc.
