the more details that come out, the more it's abundantly clear that they put a lot of effort into this. it's not lazy, the only seriously disappointing aspect are the character models and i'm sure a lot of what we see are from earlier builds, my expectations grow again by the day the more I see.

I honestly doubt there will be any. Manuals (real ones, not those single page pamphlets you occasionally get now) and maps are largely a thing of the past. Something something waste something something rainforest something something deforestation.

In unreal (other engines too), you can disable vegetation (just like you can disable lighting). That makes it easier to work with the textures, details, etc and makes the project run smoother because during development it's not optimized yet. Disabling vegetation and lighting or shadows makes it 10 times easier to work.  

When I was working with level design, I had to redo my portfolios hundreds of times because I used to send them and then realize I didn't re-enable the vegetation. So I'd reopen the project, enable vegetation, record/take screenshots, and resend the project. 

That's probably the case here, or it was not done yet, or they decided to add grass only on specific places (super weird).

 

you made me think about the *wide* graphics settings that will be available to us... i hope it will be the neat part of using unreal.

Play everything at 0.25 speed, ENHANCE and brighten everything. Also, don't have a girlfriend, that helps.

A little tip; you can go frame by frame in youtube by pressing the "," and "." keys. You probably know this already but cant hurt.

I always use Adobe Premiere Pro to go frame by frame (also grab the 4K video on the Rockstar website)

considering rdr2 had them i'm somewhat hopeful there will be something, although there's a fair chance you're right which sucks. remains to be seen!

lmao me too. good thing i learned from my mistakes: since gta v, i store my settings in a .txt file (i tried saving the config file from documents but it didn't work well for me).

 

rdr2 was a nightmare... i never worked so hard in a graphic settings lol (my 1050ti thank me for this)

i feel like i'm one of the few people that never had any issues with rdr2 - i just set the settings to a mix of high/ultra and off i went. i'm on an rtx 2060, but i've seen people with better cards having issues with the game somehow

if the driver is out, maybe they already added the graphics settings stuff to let it optimise them for you when you want.
if they have already added them, then we can see what settings we would be able to adjust
