Yeah, but Tommy definitely doesn’t look ripped or in shape at all. Obviously, just because you work out doesn’t mean you’re gonna be sculpted, but Tommy had a very “average” build. He doesn’t really look “fat”, atleast not by American standards.

He looks alright to me in the other pictures apart from that one with the telephone. Might be a matter of perspective.

He's not fat but he looks like a square, an extra. He looks like the kind of character that shoots himself in the foot in a cutscene and never appears again.

Like many who noticed, Tommy screenshots are not similar to one another. On one of them he has buttons on his shirt.

Maybe it's just a beta? Do you think they'll be able to change textures via live updates? Do you think it's likely to happen?

I think everyone is missing a pretty important point here, those bowling shirts were extra-large back in the day. The thing is that real clothing style (big bowling shirts) + outdated technology (the 3D modeling software's capabilities of the time) = chubby Tommy. Now take everything and multiply it by 2021 Unreal Engine's amazing rendering techniques and visuals and you got chubbier Tommy (chubby Tommy ^2).

They went for this style, look how that shirt makes Al Pacino look a tiny bit chubby

Not with that like/dislike ratio I think, everything is alright as far as the publisher is concerned.

Next time when making comparisons, try using the official screenshots found on the new Trilogy site:

 

As you can see, Tommy does not look as bad as you make it out to be in the first image, which is edited to make him look fatter in both stomach and sides. His hair is also altered to make it look more like a doll. This post got 43 likes, 43 people who got baited and possibly have their views on the game altered because of someone editing an image to make it look worse than the official screenshots. I really hope you didn't edit this.

Implying games don't get patches anyway just because of mostly positive general feedback. Negative feedback about the characters is spread a little everywhere on the Internet, even if people like the rest of the trilogy, I think they might at least try and address it.

Sure hope so too, but patches as in bugfixes is one thing and changing stylistics is another.

I think one of the biggest issues is also with the shaders used for characters, and that can most definitely be tweaked post-release I think, and I hope, because the rest of the remaster is (to me) pretty spectacular, the characters just need some extra care...

I really wish more people complained about Orange Tommy. There's not enough time to fix every single character they ruined, sure. But maybe there's enough of time to fix Tommy with a day 1 patch?

At least TRY to make him look like the same character ffc... Cause right now it looks like they modeled him after a chubby Indian guy whos constantly confused about everything...
I mean somehow even his shirt looks wrong. How can you screw up a shirt? All the mods I seen before (that previously I would say are not that great) still look 10x than what they did to my boy...

Looks like you intentionally missing the point here...  Even a fan made model made 10y ago by a single person FOR FREE looks better than what R* did to those characters. No one argues about backgrounds, filters, lightning or any of the other things... seems you just trying to move the goalpost without anyone realizing. We talking about the characters. Those models definitely have a "fortnite/mobile clone/parody" feel to them.

Having had some time to settle and think about it all. It's a mixed bag. So much of it looks great, such as the improved draw distance, texture quality and environments. But there are others that just look a little off, such as some of the colouring/saturation in places. Many characters look overly cartoonish (Avery). Even the improved lighting has its downside, such as the tine or vibe feeling different than GTA III.

 

I still overall like it, but I don't prefer it. I'm a purist, and I'll always prefer the OG look ( I play Halo 1 & 2 in classic mode, for example). I really need to play it for myself and have a good look around. I'm sure it will end up feeling like 'the definitive versions' of those games. But I don't think it will ever look it.

I just never want to make any knee-jerk comments or reactions.
