let's not forget that this pattern was an extremely common one, to the point that it could be found by googling "pattern 80s". the common cheerful 80's confetti pattern being taken off an asset website isn't really a sign of anything substantial.

There is a screenshot from the same perspective (almost) with a lot higher LOD distance. I think those are shots from different stages of development too, not just different platforms. Could even be an Xbox One/PS4 vs PC thing.

So according to Tez in the end its the work of mainly Dundee and GSG? Not only GSG?

This is so confusing, but if this kind of "work partnership" is true, i wouldnt have to be worried about a messy release anylonger

That is a very strange thing to do then. Why would they show mobile footage while promoting PC and console games. Mobile verisons coming 2022.

In isolation, sure...but it's not just that on its own that points to that. They've completely butchered the original atmosphere of all 3 games.

Could be. But I think it's PC or nextgen consoles footage.

i really don't see how they've butchered the atmosphere. the only thing that really needs work is the materials on the characters - meshes are serviceable, and the rendering techniques themselves are a good representation of how to achieve a similar feel to the originals in the modern day (ie. without an insane blue filter over everything)

 

and no, permanent foggy weather and a #FFA500 colored sky don't count as atmosphere.

Yeah, it's weird that all the time we heard Dundee was working, and suddenly on the announcement, GSG takes over. What Tez is saying is probably true, but it's very weird

Rockstar Games is mentioned for the original classic release and WDS for the defintive version. If dundee worked on that game it should have been "Rockstar Studios".

And why should WDS only work on the mobile release if you can easily compile it in Unreal SDK for all platforms imaginable, there's no need to port anything again.

i'm not sure why they would, but it's an inkling. especially considering the screenshots with higher LOD / draw distance, as @Spider-Vice pointed out

Yeah, it's " terrible " alright.. By the way, this is PC version with PS2 visuals at 720p. Amongst just couple of additional mods, it uses p2dfx with Limit Adjuster in order to slightly enhance - god I hate that word - what's already in the game, but it couldn't be used originally in order to boost performance of the old consoles and PC machines. I've said it already, modding community, if nothing, was closer to recreating these games in the right way. For me, they f*cking nailed it.

There seems to be some revisionist history going on at the moment and it's a little sad how everyone, including "fans", are now calling the original games trash with terrible graphics, etc, and that Rockstar have finally blessed them with a playable version of these games. 😕

Exactly what I was thinking, people used to gush over the orange haze and looked for mods to re-introduce it. It was seen as a feature that was removed from PC port. No one "hated" the warm colors, it's just that some people are trying to justify this barebones entry by making the originals look bad or prove how some features were bad or pointless.

So much so that there is a mod for vegetation that was actually based on the source textures for trees and it looks great.

Thank Rockstar for doing that and for YOEL for finding them. My renders looked a lot prettier with those :kekw:

 

Only a tiny amount of those textures where found by me, most come from a compilation DimZet13 did and those mostly come from texture CDs that where released by Marlin Studios and Imagecells back in the day.

 

 

BTW now that I'm here I'm going to take the oportunity to say that, even if I'm not active anymore, I'm still full on with you guys, and I'll not drop a penny on any T2 game until they change how they treat the community, it might just be me, but people is over corporations in my book.

GTA Vice City turns 20 next year. There is no chance of a remaster being it's special, since we are getting it now. Soooo..... what do you guys think will be Vice Citiy's 20 year anniversary special?

Yeah, exactly. Umberto is the best looking character model we've seen so far in my opinion. If every character looked like this, the reception would have been much warmer.

og gta3 is way better than the remaster. beautiful pic. atmosphere is unmatched to this day.

GTA 3 is my favorite game by far, but the long distance lighting really wasn't a strength it had. A lot of the buildings in that background don't have any illumination at all, and those lights on the left look especially outdated. Many of the lights look more like bloom sprites if anything.

 

I understand the game is supposed to be dark, but even back then, I thought it was kind of lame that the skyscrapers look like they suffered from a blackout.

Umberto looks a lot like his artwork. IMO the models should be more consistent.

You do remember the cars in GTA Vice City mobile controlling like tanks right? Or the weird car handling in GTA SA Mobile? 

 

I wonder how sh*tty the driving in the remaster is going to be?
