Andreas915
I am a huge fan of Miami Vice. That is in large part due to Vice City. I knew of the series before, but hadn't seen it on TV myself back then. So Vice City really made me look for this series. I could not find any current threads for it. And during my on-again-off-again time on these boards I really haven't seen a dedicated topic about it. Which is peculiar because one of the games we so much like makes many references to the TV series. I recently even posted a snippet from the book 'Jacked' about how during the development of Vice City Sam Houser went out of his way to buy the VHS tapes of the episodes on eBay because back then it wasn't released on DVD and every official realease of episodes on VHS was well out of print. I think that a separate topic for this series is truly has to be available. In my opinion it should go without saying. Otherwise, if there were to be a discussion about it, the posts would get lost in the General TV series topic. Even if there are only a few posts here and there. I want to open the topic with the silhouette from Vice City opening titles that is basically a screengrab of a scene from one of the episodes - Season 2 episode 10 'Bought and Paid For'. I did post it in another topic, but I think it would be a good first post here. Quote Quote In general, yes, the series has many low quality 80s tropes and in multiple cases quite bad acting. But most of the time the stories were extremely good. And the endings of episodes did not really have an embarrasing epilogue where people talk happily a few lines and then a freeze frame happens. Usually the endings did make you think for yourself. Considering other popoular series of the time, this was a new approach and a welcome one at that. Again, I feel strongly enough about the connection between the series and the game that there should be a dedicated topic for this series. Mindshower
Watching it semi frequently these days, still love it. Music is top notch, they'll milk the f*ck out of it too by having Don Johnson go for a night drive or a depressed, pastel power walk. Celebrity cameos are ridiculous too, it's like the casting director had a time machine and casted who someone would want on their dream 80s show today. Miles Davis, Al Bundy, Penn Jillette and Pam Grier just to name a few. The structure of the show when focused on darker subject matter in their police work is not all that different from the 2000s golden age of dramatic TV shows. I recommend Burn Notice by the way. I'm too cool to elaborate further beyond the obvious similarities, but it covers familiar ground. Andreas915
