Wishlist for GTA San Andreas: Definitive Edition

By the way i have also a wishlist for San Andreas..

 

- I think they didn't completely finish the game and had to release that early so first i would like to play the game fully (Like buying interiors or other things)

- No Barriers, 4 Stars Wanted Level at the beginning and Interior Universe (Maybe except Stadiums)

- More functional safehouses like showering, faster wardrop, autosave)

- More parkour animations and missing/removed animations (like detonation or parachute)

- Gallery for boats, bikes and planes..

- 5 Seats for Ambulance (Why not 😀

- Calling Taxis..

Keep everything true to the original game, except add the beta content that didn't make the final cut:

 

 

Oh yeah and ofcourse the across the board improvements.

I really hope they are able to renew all the music licences. 

 

I hope having an extended draw distance doesn't make the map feel smaller. Might be bit strange seeing each city from the other city. 

 

Going back and listening to the audio of those games - it sounds really compressed and low-res. I wonder do they have the master recordings and can export the files with better compression and in a higher fidelity. 

 

I got a 4K TV now and hope they can make a 4K output. 

 

Most of all, it's just nice to know there is a definitive addition that will exist early on the console generation that I can play on my Series X. The trilogy is drenched in nostalgia for me at various points of my life growing up from that transition from childhood to teenage years.

This is the no. 1 reason why I wanna buy a PS5 ASAP.

 

I'm currently saving money til the end of December and seeing this makes me just want to grab one for myself and play GTA SA right away.

 

As for Draw Distance, I think it will likely stay the same. The classic draw distance made the countryside feel bigger than they really are. I just wish they do the countryside proper justice. I wanna see more vegetation like grasses and shrubs, and if possible, more trees in some areas where they should be abundant. This is more like a pipe dream, I hope they add in ambient audio for the countryside. I'd appreciate at least crickets should they decide to leave animals out.

 

This may be a Pipe Dream, but I hope the vehicles have physics at least like GTA 5. Another pipe dream would be more pedestrian variety.

 

Finally, the music as you said. It'll be a dealbreaker for me if they don't bring those deleted songs back into the game. I have nostalgic value attached to those songs, ffs.

Yes, great point. I would love to see this as well. I love that San Andreas' countryside actually feels quiet and lonely (unlike V), so I hope they only populate it more with shrubs, long grass etc and not so much noisy things or people everywhere.

GTA V's countryside doesn't feel like an actual setting. They feel like three-dimensional bakcdrops, to be honest. It's like going to a backdrop mountain and realizing it's climbable or going to a desert backdrop and realizing the rolling dunes have little details. I can't really describe it, but I guess they feel like afterthoughts. GTA V's South San An feels like a huuuge theme park.

I've thought about this quite a lot. I think the logic behind the circling mountains is that with improved draw distance they had to come up with a way to have the distance but obscure the island feeling and not seeing the sea from every angle. So the idea was to have a setting where if you are in the desert, every which way you look, there are nice mountains in the background. I admire that to a degree. Aesthetically, it looks pleasing having rolling hills and a mountain ranges in the background. However it all feels a little shallow. Because of that layout, it never feels like you can get lost. It feels like you are in a giant sandpit. Like you said, they are just 3-diemensional backdrops. Couple that with no city to the north it all feels a little tacked on. However, much more preferable than a city-only map. For me the solution is two cities separated by countryside/desert. 

 

The difference between V's map and San Andreas is that to me, San Andreas' map is so much more asymmetrical that roads are very windy and obscured by massive redwood trees and small peaks and tofts. Sometimes trying to take a short-cut lands you in a river and you have to find a long way out. The highway goes the long way and the "short cut" roads are so windy that they sort of balance each other out. If you take the highway from Los Santos to San Fierro, you can really go top speed for long periods. But the route is actually way longer in the physical sense. If you take the shortcut through the windy roads and tunnel, you are presented with more challenging roads. I don't know if this was deliberate or not or even a subconscious effort but I really liked it. 

 

I love the asymmetry of San Andreas' map. I like being at the base of Chiliad, up a level near that house where the snitch is hiding out. Those trees there seem massive. I felt really small beside them and mount Chiliad. It was also quiet and it felt quite remote. I loved that contrast to Los Santos or San Fierro. It felt genuinely spooky to out in countryside because it's really quiet and lonely. And you know in such remoteness a murder or crime can easily go unreported. With V, you know you shoot your gun and cops appear out of nowhere. It takes you out of the moment. For me it kills the immersive feeling of being out somewhere remote when the cops are alerted to your crimes in quiet places in the middle of the night.

Daaaamn! Didn't know we have a lot of things in common, esp. this one. I think I even downloaded a mod where I can save in that snitch's safehouse. Also, I made Mt. Chiliad snowy. haha

 

I love hanging around Angel Pine, tbh. It just feels so remote. I even bought myself a safehouse in Paleto Bay in GTAO just so I can travel from LS using my sh*tty trucks. Angel Pine feels like it's surrounded by wilderness even though San Fierro is just on the other side of Mt. Chiliad.

 

Mt. Chiliad in GTA SA has a winding trail, whereas the one in GTA V only has a winding trail at the bottom. I think this is the reason why GTA V's Mt. Chiliad feels smaller even if it's 30x larger. I swear, GTA V should have had at least one other city. Hell, with the money they're earning from GTAO, they should have made at least San Fierro on the other side of the map.

 

The big towns don't seem to work out well especially with a city as large as Los Santos.

 

Another area I'd love to see in a better light is the Marina and Cordillera north of San Fierro. I used to get up to the Cordillera and pretend I was hang gliding.

 

EDIT: They could have included San Fernando Valley to the East/Northeast, but all we got are just bald hills.

Mt. Chiliad is generally better designed in SA. It may not be as big but there are numerous paths to the top and they present varying environments. You got barren rocks, tall forests, greener areas etc. That's what makes the map design brilliant.

Bayside and Cordillera definitely needs some love. Such a neglected and unused area yet it's so beautiful. I hope we get to see more trees there.

First thing I'm gonna do is find myself a squalo or jetmax then go boating by the Bay Area. Oh, wait a sec!!! I wonder how sandstorms and thunderstorms feel like!!! I bet thunderstorms are gonna make back-o-beyond look eerier and the desert vibes more miserable.

I definitely hope they can give back the same eerie atmosphere of the countryside. They should somehow replicate the bug that made the abandoned Glendale drive itself

Makes it even more fun if the crash physics are somehow improved from the 3D games. I hope we're getting lots of tall grasses, shrubs, and also give my Farm some wheat!!

 

I think Back-o-beyond deserves a lot of tall, unkempt grasses and overgrowth.

I am curious to see how the game will play in the Unreal Engine and if it can keep it's original feeling.
The upgraded gunplay is something I am super excited to see. Althought I am not a huge fan of 3rd person cover-system shooter games (unless it's GoW), I think an improved AI and V-style shooting will help the game be more enjoyable and challanging - while it has already been stated, that there will be Checkpoints as seen in V ...


I hope that they keep the car/bike driving & CJ physics the same ... I was somehow shocked by GTA IVs goofy running physics and quite annoyed by it's wiggly wobbly car physics (let's not speak about the completly broken bike physics if game was played over 60 fps lol).

While GTA V improved it on the other hand SA always stood out if compared to VC or III for me and to this day feels absolutly great to play and I enjoyed racing offline and online. Something not many PS2/PC Games from that time period hold up to for me if I played them now.

I think a whole lot of people are going to be disappointed with their wishlists not at all being addressed. We have to remember that this is a remaster, not a remake so we should try and have some more reasonable wishlists. They're likely not going to be adding anything (Especially things like vehicles, weapons, safehouses, a cover system, etc...) except some possible bug fixes and QOL improvements. With that said, here's my wishlist:

 

* A full soundtrack with the re-adding of removed songs.

* Fixing the Madd Dogg's crib save icon from deleting basketball and glitching out the gyms.

* (Now this is a stretch.) Making the 2-player co-op into untethered split-screen.

 

EDIT: One more thing I'd like to see...

* Keyboard and Mouse support for consoles.

I have to say this every time somebody insists that GTA 4 has realistic driving physics.... They should have at least looked at passing cars if they're really that wiggly IRL and if they accelerate really slow. I drive our car every now and then and in my experience GTA V's handling is about 70% close to real life acceleration, it's just the physics are arcadey. However, GTA 4's car physics is just exaggerated.

To add to this, I hope they don't introduce autosaving feature or if they do then don't make it broken. On versions with autosave you can disable the pool minigame if the game is saved near a pool table. In addition to this they should also fix the gym glitch where hitting the daily limit can lock you out of gym activities for a very long time.

Gameplay-wise the game is perfect as it is, in my opinion. A change that I'd absolutely love to see would concern Ryder's journey and his role in the story. At this point, it's relatively well-known that he wasn't supposed to be an antagonist, so I'd die to see a proper treatment of Ryder's character. That, of course, would require a tremendous chunk of the story rewritten, so it's nothing more thanwishful thinking, but a man can dream...

I agree. Health regeneration would make all the food restaurants obsolete, apart from gaining weight.

This is pretty much why i clicked the thread. I'm wondering since the guy quit would they be willing/have to pay the actors again who quit before to use their voices. So that alone makes me think that it makes sense to hire new actors for those roles. 

 

I'd like to play through and see what was actually supposed to happen with the story if the guy didn't quit. It's a remaster after all so surely they could further the story if they wanted to I would think.

Climb ladders

Renew licenses (all original release radio stations music on game)

Beta Mullholland Safehouse/Stahl House (I know it won't happen)

Increaded draw distance(but not too much)

PS2 Las Venturas (specially Four Dragons Casino) missing textures

Photo mode. 

I really cannot stress this enough. I will say it until I'm blue in the face.

Either a baked in photo mode (which I doubt) Or make it compatible with NVIDIA Ansel or something similar. 

 

I'm not talking about taking the in game camera and grabbing snaps with that, that works well for what it is, I'm talking about full on freezing the action, 360 camera and all the trimmings. 

 

I want to take 1000s of photos on my journey through San Andreas. 

I also want to bore everyone to death on here with constant sunset photos overlooking the desert.

I'd like to see them renew copyright licenses and return all those songs on the radio that were removed from the first remaster.

I'd also like to see them return some beta content,such as the FBI Truck and unused peds (a couple of those GSF members that only appear in a few cutscenes, the biker and Latino drug dealers, an old security guard, some veteran-looking guy in green jacket and camo pants, etc.), maybe even program the Russian mob and those Cobra bikers as unused gangs 9 and 10, and give them and the Italian mob turfs.

It may sound weird,but I hope the vehicle driving physics stay the same as the original,I hope they don't replace them with GTA 5 vehicle physics.I would however like something similar to the personal vehicle system from GTA Online,at least make it so that the vehicles stored in garages would teleport back to their garage if left somewhere,instead of despawning and getting lost forever.

Ability to climb ladders would be cool too.

Hopefully, they'll fix the Enforcers to say either SAPD across the whole map or have the SFPD and LVPD textures depending on where CJ is on the map during a 4-star wanted level instead of just having the LSPD textures.
