MP3 Station

One of my favorite aspects of the PC version was having a MP3 station to play my own songs.

If I am now playing on the Playstation 4 do you think they could implement this somehow?

Are there even games where something like this is even possibly?

The trilogy is going to rock on the PC! But my desktop isn't good enough.

Question: What do yall think about a MP3 Station for consoles?

On the original Xbox they implemented the custom radio stations at least in GTA SA, but I believe that ability (to rip CD's and save them on the console) was removed due to piracy concerns, because music industry. Doubt it's gonna make its way to the current gen consoles unfortunately. :/

I'm not sure about the latest Xbox consoles, but the PS4 and PS5 can't even play CDs let alone give you the option to store them on the file system. I think you can still play music from a USB drive but I highly doubt you can copy them to the console for the reasons you mentioned.

It's a shame because I really liked that they added the MP3 Player to the original Xbox versions and it was an improved version of the ones on PC too, you could skip tracks and change CDs which is not possible in the PC versions of GTA III and Vice City.

Current gen could just implement Spotify instead, since its app is already available on PSN (not sure about Xbox Live).

Right on! Thanks for the replies. Sounds like Spotify would be the closest thing. The soundtracks are a big deal in these classic games. I assume VC particularly will be missing a handful.

Anyone know if songs have been cut from 3 or San An?

Given that most of the songs in GTA3 were either created specifically for the game or public domain, it's safe to say, the only ones likely to have been cut at all will be the ones on Flashback (where most of the songs were essentially the soundtrack for the film "Scarface")

It seems highly unlikely this will happen. As others have pointed out the only real way to do custom stations would be through spotify, pandora, or some other third party music app. I imagine if this was something that Rockstar were interested in they would have done it with GTA V ages ago.

I assume there's a ton of overly complicated legal issues involved, as well. I'm not sure a service like Spotify has the right to essentially license out their entire catalogue of music to a video game. I'm sure Metallica, for example, wouldn't be too happy about it.

That said, Microsoft was able to integrate it's Groove Music app and OneDrive music streaming into a Forza Horizon 3 radio station so it's definitely possible.
