GTA III: The Definitive Edition - OUT NOW

Cutter De Blanc

Was just hanging out on the streets of the Red Light District of an evening,  forgot how much I like the ambiance in this game. I get more of a GTAIV vibe this time around with the new lighting. I eventually heard my favorite ped shout "DANNY ITS HOT!" (or whatever the hell hes supposed to be saying) and I was satisfied with the whole thing

More like the PS2 model with Xbox textures put on in a half-assed manner.

They really should've used the enhanced car models from the Xbox version.

Yeah, maybe, I remember them looking decent but the thing I never liked about the Xbox Mafia Sentinel is its colors. In the original PS2 and PC versions the car is dark grey, in LCS it's black while the Xbox had this - in my opinion - weird and ugly metal colored thing going on at its sides and back. And now it looks just like that even though it's supposed to be the stereotypical "dark mafia car" that just looks way cooler and more intimidating if it's just plain dark grey or black. In the original game it also had its windows tinted black which is nowhere to be found in the remaster. Like you know the car looks like this:

I don't know about other people but to me that Mafia / Leone Sentinel was always "the car" of the game: it looks nice, it's fast and durable, just an all around great vehicle that can help you if you're struggling with a mission. It's an iconic car really, a remaster should get it 100% right... so yeah, kind of a lack of care here. Like when it comes to cars the list of "what we have to do to make a good remaster?" should start with "we have to absolutely nail the Mafia Sentinel and the Yakuza Stinger."

It's easy to think audio quality is bad on everything when for example intro audio quality wasn't that bad.

I guess it's radio and voice acting in cutscenes that is the biggest problem or on their end with speakers/different setup that makes it sound more bad.

Anyway I do use Resound PhoneClip+ and Sennheiser 800 BTD USB ML adapter for PC without BlueTooth support to stream to my Cochlear Nucleus 7 on both sides and audio quality is actually good.

I do agree rain looks very weird, but it bothers me not much anyway.

Well, the PC version does have superior audio quality compared to the console versions.

Yes, after finished playing GTA III: The Definitive Edition for today and Rockstar Games Launcher was still in Offline Mode. When I reloaded Rockstar Games Launcher, games I did have was gone away and Rockstar Games Launcher never has GTA Trilogy: The Definitive Edition listed in the store and working fine again now in online mode.

The radio and cutscenes sound fine to me. They aren't the best quality but still pretty good. The audio that bothers me is the dialogue that takes place in the car or while you're playing the game. Sounds like someone held a mic up to their speakers while playing the PS2 version to get the audio.

It's a small complaint, I'm not adding to the masses tearing this remake down. I personally love it. It's everything I remember the game being, just prettier.

The Definitive Edition is unavailable to play or purchase as we remove files unintentionally included in these versions. We're sorry for the disruption and hope to have correct ones up soon.

This makes me wonder what files they are talking about.

Serious enough to warrant people not being able to even buy it, let alone play it. It must be related to music.

There are a few songs in the game that are supposedly cut, so I guess it's time to make the list of songs even smaller?

From what I'm seeing.. the music they removed from the games, was still in the games code but just disabled.

Apparently the developer notes are still in there as well.. I'm assuming Rockstar doesn't want everyone seeing all this. 🤣

Already completed this awesome classic on the PS5.
Here's my pros and cons

Pros

- Awesome game

- Great story

- Better driving (imo)
- Modern Controls (although, you may need to turn off aim assist and turn free aim on, as the aim assist does have a problem to lock onto random targets)

- The new control wheels are pretty nice

Cons

- Various bugs as listed here
     1. Cars flying

     2. Falling through the map out of no where

     3. Aim-Assist locking onto NPCs that are far away
     4. More that I cant feel the need to list

- FPS drops, this game lacks some optimization. Playing on performance mode, the game may sometimes dip to 40 FPS

- Random crashes

Overall, I had a blast revisiting this cult classic, but there is definitely more work to be done here. But don't get me wrong... It was awesome.

I like it. And I'm also stoked I remembered my forum login.

I am Otacon. Hello

Edit: I play on ps4 and switch. Send fps

Edit 2: Still runs good. I'm pissed the ps4 wont run at 60fps though. That seems like bullsh*t. But on ps4 and switch both run a bit better than the originals so..Im still having a good time

I knew it lol.

I saw some of the screenshots from the dev notes. I find them hilarious. It's a shame they won't keep them in.

While playing the game and listening to Flashback FM something occurred to me that kind of blows my mind... 20 years prior to the release of GTA3,  Scarface was still 2 years away from being released. Now here we are 20 years after the release of GTA3.  Just thinking of their release in those terms seems crazy to me. 🤣
