What are you talking about, removing things? Nothing except un-PC bullsh*t will be removed, and by the same token, nothing except a few QoL improvements will be added. I do enjoy my PS2 GTA III, just like I have been doing for 20 years. You're the one setting yourself up for disappointment by levying unrealistic feature additions that would cause issues with canon and progression as "basic requirements".

I'm sure the stadium will be remodeled along with everything else, however I'd be *surprised* if you were allowed in. And I'd be equally *surprised* if you could access any more rooftops than you can in OG III.

I am not saying they will remove anything, I was making a statement, that's it.

Yes, they will be remodelled and I never said that GSG will add swimming and all. I merely said that the game needs it badly because GTA 3/VC really pale in comparison to SA. Even if all these things were to be added, which they won't, people will still prefer SA.

That must have been about ten times harder than just going over two bridges.

It wasn't that much different than driving a car really. It's not like San Andreas so you can force your way through small cars without risking serious damage. Traffic density wasn't too high either due to technical limitations of the time. Even on the PC with the patches, I did the same thing without that much difficulty just last month.

I'm going to be honest, I don't really know why I didn't use the bridge route. The entrance to the tunnel is directly below the bridge leaving Shoreside. :cringekek:

No, you were posing a bullsh*t question because you can't accept that GTA III does not, and will not ever, need swimming, bikes, and aircraft. Cope harder.

For the last time, I said that I wanted it to have that, wanted. I did not say that my guy Jordan at GSG will definitely add it, just see.

Quality argumentation.

Until we see/know what can be done in the game, nobody here is right.

It is not wrong to speculate and expect for something more. It may not happen and you may end up disappointed. But there's nothing wrong with it.

Let people be and have hope for what they want. It's unhealthy to bring them down like this. Besides, what do you get with that attitude? "Oh, I am right heh :dankpepe:" :l

Anyway. We'll see in due time what's really the case. Whatever happens it won't make anyone special in the terms of "I knew it.", "I told you". This isn't a contest and there are no prizes.

Seriously, there's no such thing as a bullsh*t question in pre-release game hype, lol.

I never said he couldn't hope for those things, but his posts are borderline suited to the bitch and moan thread, not this one. Trashing GTA III, a cornerstone of open-world gaming, as "desperately needing QoL changes" and "feeling handicapped compared to VC and SA" just because you couldn't swim or ride a bike is not fair. Want to explore the waters? Get a boat. Want to do some air travel? Learn to fly the Dodo. Just have some respect for the game as it is, especially when most of your GTA experience probably comes verbatim from YouTube videos. Nobody likes a parrot.

I mean, this is a pre-release hype and discussion thread. The Bitch and Moan thread is largely a quarantine thread for people who hate the remasters entirely to prevent other threads from turning into a bitch-fest.

As someone who loves Grand Theft Auto III, I agree with the general sentiment and I hate how the game gets trashed for "not being as good as the newer releases", but given that this is a remaster, it's fair to expect some things to get ironed out, and have a few things from the newer games get backported (such as jumping out of a car, or more wardrobe options).

At the end of the day, it's a video game. Does GTA 3 need all VC/SA features? No. But it's something to discuss nonetheless. An attitude of "the game was fine before, it doesn't need this stuff, so if you have that opinion, your opinion is dumb" doesn't make for great debates or speculation.

Few things, that I'd hope would get changed would be as follows (Some could count for VC & SA as well):

Being able to sprint with all weapons, like it was in LCS & VCS. If it's back to only with fists, Pistol or Uzi, it would be lame.

Buying weapons from Ammu-Nation stores should be from VC onward ie Weapons on the shelf. I wasn't very fond of the awkward camera angles inside the shop that much.

Better Drive-by mechanic, it would be better to to be able to shoot without losing focus on the road ahead all 360° degrees instead of just left & right.

One of the things I'm looking forward to the most is seeing speedrunners take a swing at it.

I'm really curious to see how many of their tricks transfer to this new engine. I'm sure a lot of the tricks are dependant

on the coding of the game and maybe not the game engine but I don't know what I'm talking about so I can't wait to see.

The world record speedrun for GTA Vice City is like, 5 minutes or something crazy because of a wild glitch to do with the replay function. I can't imagine that will survive, but that just means we can look forward to some new speedrun strats. Plus we know any glitches they find to help them probably won't get patched anyway 😉

I couldn't help myself and fired up III on my pc lastnight and played through the intro and a few missions.   Getting excited.  Yay!

I saw the leaked footage of III and VC.

Suffice to say, I ain't buying them and R* is insane to think they are worth $60, they aren't, period.

Maybe if I can get the games for free I will, if I were on PC I would definitely pirate them because thats what T2 deserves after taking the modders who did a much better job than this.

It really sucks because I was a bit hyped for III but now after seeing the gameplays, I have no reason to play these games again.

Watching gameplays on YT are enough.

...and here I was hoping for some leaked III footage. Life is cruel sometimes.

The leaked GTA:SA footage looks fairly good though, I'm still hyped.

III got leaked too, it's on YouTube. Someone might have posted it in the leak thread, too.

I noticed that shoreside vale/upstate has a bunch of trees and houses added, maybe the tunnel is now open and there is a little something there/ghost town accessible. But it could just be props.

edit: Yep, further checks and its just extra props visible from the staunton side. Still nice, feels like upsate/ghost town are existing.

Can we post reactions and reviews to the game here?

I wanna say, first impression is it's a let down.
A let down in terms of holding the original theme and vibe. Just in the first 5 seconds of seeing gamplay, the menu has GTA SA sfx. The minimap has Vice City colours for some reason.
The minimap is no longer topdown, and it has a GPS route.
Cars in 2001 didn't have that. I think it destroys authenticity. Part of the charm was finding your way around without the guided path. Now it shows the path always. None of the original trilogy games had that, why add it.
The HUD, they've made it the light gold colour from the 10th anniversary mobile edition. Why???? Make it match the original. No reason to make the game stylistically match Vice City, San Andreas, GTA IV and GTA III Mobile.
I'm just hoping we can mod all this sh*t to make it authentic, and nostalgic. I mean why a mishmash of various other games.
Get it on PC so you can mod it.

I spent 5 minutes in Photoshop. This is honestly how Claude should have looked.

Not bashing on how the DE looks, I like everything else about the games apart from the character mdoels.

Maybe this was posted in the wrong place.

Well as it has hit midnight here in the UK I've been able to get on and see it for myself and first impressions are that it's looking really good!

I'm sure I'll be having plenty of fun with these games so I'm not sure how active I'll be around here over the new few days haha, but I did just want to note down a couple of immediate differences I'm noticing to the originals. For those that aren't able to play until the actual release time I'll keep these in a spoiler tag but I can't imagine there'll be anything too major. I'll update it over the next hour or so:

Spoiler
  • The Top Down Camera seems to have been removed
  • The Cinematic Camera has also been removed
  • No loadscreens between islands
  • Instant saving like PC and Mobile
  • You can pause during cutscenes, which is great IMO
  • Vehicles now have licence plates! We knew this from the screenshots already but thought I'd mention it again
  • The Parked Cars around Liberty City have been changed (mostly additions). Particularly at Easy Credit Autos in Harwood, there's a new Patriot in the showroom near the Banshee and the vehicles in the lot are in different positions. I wonder if they restored those ones found in the mobile SCM from presumably an earlier version of III. (Update: Yes, seems so!)
    • Update 2: Well, there were 5 spawns on that website that didn't appear in the final game (Idaho in Saint Marks, Taxi at Mean Street, Mule near Sawmill, Manana near Police Station and third Coach). The Idaho and Mule are in this game, the others aren't, and the Patriot I mentioned at Easy Credit Autos is something completely new.
    • Update 3: There's also a new Blista spawn in the same place as a Patriot, best chance of spawning it is to approach from the hobo tunnel. This now gives players a way to obtain the Blista in Portland at the start of the game!
  • They've fixed the broken Bobcat spawn at Supa Save!
  • They've definitely adjusted the vehicle handling, the steering is less sensitive making cars feel slightly heavier and less arcade-y now
  • The city looks really great. Those parallax interiors add so much to the game, really brings the city to life!
  • You can switch between three control schemes; "Modern", "Modern Alt" (only has differences for in-vehicle controls), "Classic"
    • I really like the new V-like controls but for some bizarre reason the radio selection button is the right d-pad buton instead on the left like V 👀 So that'll take some getting used to. Weapon types are in a different order too :p
  • Many of those trees you could drive through are now solid 👀
  • Smoke effects, caused to my vehicle after said encounter with tree, looking really nice!
  • Radar and Map use SA Mobile icons for the most part, and SA sounds in the menu
  • The GPS system and map seem to work pretty well too. It's definitely a nice to have for new players
  • They've added a hill near the docks where the gap in the map used to be, but the fences there now run through the hill :p
  • They've added new raised grass at the Apartment Complex in Hepburn Heights, but it's not solid 👀
  • The door at the Portland Safehouse is inside by default, and when it closes the texture of it (which seems to be a shop door with a "Closed" sign is inverted) 👁️
  • Pressing down on the d-pad zooms the radar out like GTA V
  • Stadium Door textures are fixed from PC. Can't remember if they were fixed on Mobile 🤔
  • BOB
  • No more GTA on the PCs at TW@ :jkek:
  • Texture bug on the Panlantic from III Mobile has been fixed (probably to be expected as they've clearly redone vehicles)
  • They've added houses and lights to the hills opposite Portland. They look really good, especially at night. This was an empty grass hill in the originals.
  • Three targeting modes; "Aim Assist", "Free Aim", "Classic Aim"
    • Classic works like the originals as expected, aim assist is a lot like V's
  • Police Heli is blue and white, unlike the screenshots
  • You're able to punch even when you're holding a weapon, as punch and shoot are different buttons

Also going to document some glitches:

  • Like mobile, launching submissions is instant so not able to hold them down to execute many glitches like the Crusher Glitch, Info Pickup Enforcer etc.
  • You can push vehicles underground at Hepburn Heights. Looks like they've retextured the top of the Porter Tunnel.

Some bugs too :p

  • Doors at the Laundromat appear to be invisible
  • Garage door open/close sounds loop repeatedly
  • Bridge Barriers seem to occasionally render invisible
  • Claude stuck in the look left/right animation if a rampage ends while in that position (until you exit and re-enter vehicle)

Nice feedback!

Hello Everyone,

Somehow I'm able to play currently. Swimming is not in. Using the health cheat while in a car completely fixes the vehicle replacing all panels. Have any questions? I'd be happy to answer them. I'm not too far into the game yet.

Hi everybody.

Anyone know whether it's possible to transfer and utilize the original PS2 game saves from GTAIII, Vice City and SA on PS5?  I'd like to play these, but i don't want to spend weeks/months looking for all the bonus items all over again.

I've been playing the paramedic mission for over 3 hours at this point, failed 7 times... did they make it harder? Sometimes picking up a passenger gives as little as +15 seconds which is way too little. The pop-in on Switch also f*cks you over when a car spawns in front of you.

A warning to people sensitive to flashing lights and epilepsy: If you are driving and a traffic light goes through your view, there are some flashes that may be bad for people with photosensitive epilepsy.
