Vice City:

Ocean Drive (and Vice Beach island as a whole in general). I love the cozy atmosphere of overlooking the beach, with that nice warm weather while that latino music is playing in the background within the hotel. I love the neon lights that comes on during the night.

If the definitive edition turns out to be as great as everyone is expecting I can only imagine how Ocean Drive will look at night will improved lighting, reflections etc.

The only other place that looks as visually stunning at night is Star Junction IMO.

III: The first safe house you get and the surrounding area in the middle of Portland with the hospital, Pay N' Spray, St. Marks ect. Well, until you kill Salvatore and they start shooting on sight :(

Vice City: Starfish Island/Vercetti Estate and that long stretch of road with Ocean View and the neon lights (driving down at max speed on a bike at night time while listening to V-Rock or Wave 103 is peak VC IMO)

San Andreas: Grove Street, home.

IV: Dukes

V: the area where Michael lives with all of the nice houses or Vinewood Hills/Franklin's end game house.

Liberty City Executioner

III: The whole city is kinda a madhouse so nowhere, really. Lol.

VC: Ocean Drive

SA: Grove Street, aka home

IV: either Mohawk Avenue or Dukes
V: either Vinewood Hills or Vespucci Beach

Ah, the places I listed are so quiet and peaceful. Just looking at them makes me smile. :)

Wichita Gardens in GTA III, one of the few places that's not shoot on sight and I was always a Purple Nines fan.

Most of San Fierro, with no active gang territories or drug dealers its nice and chill, love racing a Hotknife or bike up and down all those hills

The Balcony of the Northwood Safehouse in GTA IV.

Bayside and the ghost town from the desert area in GTA San Andreas, more so Bayside as others said above and that area really needed a few missions aside the one Boat School we had there.

For GTA V/Online, I like being in the area of the map north called Grapeseed I think that's the comfiest one, I would have preferred if businesses can be bought there too, I don't like being in the city. I have my arcade there and nearby Facility, bunker and MC, all in one place but well it is what it is.

Villages/towns in general I really like in real life too so makes sense I mostly have spend time in these areas in-game.

For GTA IV, I found Alderney's northern part to be the "comfiest", were there's some more green to it. Most of Liberty City is too loud though as a city.

Great thread, OP! Here are my picks:

GTA III / LCS: The whole game has a pretty moody atmosphere, but I guess the Leone territories of Portland are peak 3D era GTA comfyness? Spots like Saint Mark's Bistro, Mrs. Cipriani's restaurant and Salvatore's mansion all feel really pleasing, they bring a very wholesome and homely vibe to a game that has such an otherwise grim atmosphere.

GTA Vice City / VCS: Little Havana and Little Haiti are super charming locations, I love how tight-knit everything feels about it with the unorthodox road layout and the smaller buildings. The fairground in Vice City Stories is also very charming, even if it feels like it lacks just a bit of interactivity (would have been such a good opportunity to implement a bumper car minigame!).

GTA San Andreas: All of San Fierro, really? But beyond that, I think the Verdant Meadows flight school / safehouse is probably the most neat location, the interior is really comfy and it manages to make a place that's otherwise in the middle of nowhere feel really personal. Bonus points for that cozy north area of Las Venturas past the highway with the mansions and the golf club, something about it just gives me a PS2 Sims 1 / Bustin' Out sort-of vibe that's hard to explain.

GTA IV: The starting area with the Coney Island-inspired park is really neat, Broker is definitely a very comfy borough all around. The upper area of Alderney is also a classic, the yellow tones of the game give it that sweet wholesome Autumn look.

GTA V: Honestly, from all the many, many enjoyable areas in that game, I think this often overlooked lake in Mount Gordo takes the cake for absolute maximum comfyness - and also the small pond you get to see on the road that goes up to that lake. Makes me wish that there was some mechanic based around camping in GTA V / Online like there is in Red Dead 2 tbh.

cant remember

I like this thread. Though it's hard to pick. A lot of places are nostalgic to me so I'm going to pick the places where I like to take the character to relax.

GTA2: the highway diner at the bottom of the Residential District. I love standing on the walkway and watching the cars zoom by

GTA3: the alley and rooftops behind/on Luigi's club. Aswell as the first hideout. It always felt like a safe place away from the chaos and unpredictability of the NPC's, but still being able to watch them go by and do their thing.

Vice City: Little Haiti, I can't really explain why. Probably because it's the only part of VC that's kind of residential with houses on grass lots that feels like it's "away" from downtown or the very touristic Vice Beach.

San Andreas: the safehouse in the residential area of Las Venturas. It always looked like a really nice place to live and I like to take CJ there and pretend he's tending to his garden.

GTA4 as Niko: This one is particularly hard to pick for me, probably the beaches or rocky cliffs around Alderney, or the boardwalk where you have the first date.

GTA4 as Johny: in front of his second safehouse, as filthy as it is

GTA4 as Luis: he doesn't have a thinking spot

GTA5 as Trevor: on his property in Sandy Shores. It's a depressing place but it's away from all the noise, my Trevor feels right at home there close by the ammenities of his trailer home.

GTA5 as Franklin: The general Vespucci Beach area, with the beach walk etc. he loves watching the ocean and all the toursts going by

GTA5 as Michael: His getaway is the highway on the east side, he likes driving along it, and stopping at the reststop convenience store

For me (probably most people) comfy = nostalgic, so that's where I get most of these places from :turn:

GTA3: Red Light District. I don't even know why.

GTAVC: Vice Point. Not to dox myself too heavily but I pass by it from time to time IRL.

GTASA: Badlands and Desert. No matter how stupid the missions are, I'll always remember listening to "Horse With No Name" or K-Rose and driving at night.

GTAIV: Hove Beach because of how homely it feels. Just wish they would let me ride the Cyclone!
GTAV: Del Perro and Great Ocean Highway because they feel populated and real, which was uncommon for a 2012 game.

even if it's a shame GTAV's San Andreas has the PCH equivalent since I'd love a game specifically about the PCH and then San Fierro but that's not related to anything...

III: Wichita Gardens

VC: Safehouse in Mainland Vice City by the Coliseum.

SA: Bayside

LCS: Still Wichita Gardens

VCS: Amusement Park and the Trailer Park

IV: Hove Beach, Steinway, BOABO, Colony Island, Maisonette 9, Majestic Hotel, North Algonquin, Abandoned Casino in Westdyke, and the half sunken ww2 ship.

V: Paleto Bay, Vespucci Beach area

VI: Lucia's Pants

I've been replaying the IV and V story modes since the trailer dropped a few weeks ago and I've been getting super sentimental when I think about how old these games are. They're both comfy in a way that they're effectively period pieces now, if you get what I mean. Anyway...

IV: Love residential Broker and Dukes, especially near where the McReary family lives. Also love Westdyke where the rich suburbs are.

V: I'm really into the neighborhood in El Burro Heights where Lester's house is. Also like some of Mirror Park for the same reasons. My favorite rural area is the Tongva Valley.
