Unique dialogue not triggering in camp

Recommended Posts

This is a problem that i've had ever since finishing the game for the first time in 2018, albeit, the extent of it varied through the years.

I think this bug/glitch is best explained with an example: Micah offends charles and tells him to fetch something to eat, charles throws him on the ground. If you follow up Charles, you get the unique dialogue "he wont be getting up next time if he talks to me like that" (something of the sort). The problem is, this dialogue does not trigger, instead arthur says something generic, like "hi charles". There's a bunch more examples i can give. Sometimes it seems like none of them trigger, while in others some do and some don't. In my current playthrough i'm in a middle ground, as about half of them trigger.

I read somewhere here that deleting saves that are ahead in the story (like epilogue) might help it. I did it and delete my 100% file (not a big loss as i plan to 100 my current playthrough), but it didnt really fix it.

So, anyone knows a way to fix this? I'm even considering deleting all files and reinstalling, but i want that to be a last resource.

Thanks in advance

For those in the future looking for a way to fix this, I think I found a way to do it.

Before starting, i'm on xbox,  but i suppose it'll work in any platform. The solution is a bit harsh, but I think the pros outweigh the cons, especially if you're looking to immerse yourself in the story mode. What I did was delete all the files related to rdr2, except the game itself. In other words, delete all the rdr2 data on your profile. On xbox click on manage game, there you'll find the file (about 90 mb). I also deleted the reserved space, but i don't know if it's needed. (i did a hard reset after, but i don't think that's needed).

Next time the game launches, it'll be like you're playing it for the first time; so you'll have to set the brightness, toggle subtitles and all that stuff.

The results: I'm currently on chapter 2 and the amount of unique dialogue i'm getting is astonishing, most i think i've never heard before, or forgot about since the only time i remember them working out 100% was in my first playthrough.

I still can't be 100% sure it's definitely fixed, but it's looking really good so far.

thank you for the insight, I was thinking about this and I think I'll follow your method, there are some letting go issues (bye 47 non-glitched god bars + full inventory that I never sold) but it's a good reason for another playthrough and a new 100% run, maybe even complete the compendium this time.

How is it going so far, seen any differences since your last post ? In my current 100% save I noticed that Jack's second greet lines are nonexistent, he responds to the first and last greet but the middle one (where is the biggest chunk in the convo) is missing, he's completely mute but on the follow up greet (3rd one) John responds in context and Jack goes with the usual bye or so. I've been in this save for the last year+ and it happened like this since the epilogue.

This led me to believe that the dialogues are botched, there were others that I noticed while with Arthur as well and plus many other others that I'm sure I wasn't aware of. This was my second playthrough and I have my first ever save from when the game was launched with 84% plus a few others in between etc. So I'm thinking this could be the cause.

Pus, the letter from Tilly in the epilogue never came, so here's hoping this will get fixed in the process.

Thank you again for the tip! (that's what she said)

Hello! I'm currently on late chapter 2, I haven't advanced as much cause my xbox power supply is not working properly, but i think i'll get another one soon.

As far as dialogue goes, everything is going fine so far, the dialogue responses after unique interactions, the unique dialogues after certain missions, even the  generic dialogue.

There seems to be a lot of dialogue glitches in this game, rockstar messed them up pretty badly. The theory some guy in this forum came up with (don't remember his name) is that the game somehow "remembers" the unique dialogue you've heard in previous games and doesn't play them. Apparently deleting all your save games and starting a new game might help, but that didn't work for me. You might want to try that before resorting to my "method"
