Some of your suggestions are top notch and really, R* could make these games absolutely incredible. But will they? Guess we'll see...

i'm doing my best man to keep my expectations low.

i expect those kinda things to be the same.
cause it's became part of the lore kinda? like how John Marston can't swim.
now i think of it a lot of Rockstar Characters can't swim.
can Rockstar swim?

hmm...i wonder if they will handle it like in RDR2 with john.
that you have when falling like 10 seconds to get back to land before you die.
like in III and VC still being able to move in the water or maybe climb up somewhere while health drains quickly.
wouldn´t break lore that much, and it would make falling into the water not that big of a pain if you still have the ability to get back on land within 10 seconds.

Not expecting any major feature additions, but for instance the original mobile ports had auto save, its possible they might bring that back, as an option at least.

see, if they give us like a max of 15 to 20 seconds to get back to land that would be more forgiving then just touching the water and almost instant death.
i like that idea.

Mobile ports of GTA trilogy already feature some of the things listed by them, such as autosave.

They better have a mission replay. If there is one thing I hate is games that forces to restart the entire game if you want to play a mission again

There are no achievements referring to anything to do with replaying missions. Only starting a new game after getting 100% in San Andreas

This does not mean there won't be a mission replay feature, though.

It is crazy how much Rockstar has changed.. imagine saying all those years ago that they'd be remaking these amazing games in 2021 and our expectations were really low. Says a lot, really.

Also - cheers for the replies on autosave features! Hopefully they'll be in there at least 😂

Whose expectations are low?  I see alot of excitement here.

And besides, one badly marketed and unreleased port of a game (E&E) doesn't undo 20 years of legendary games in my mind. I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Im not a negative person, i try to think realistically. If the leaked PC specs are true, then this has to be something big. What do you need 45GB for if its just a small upgrade from the original which fits on a 4,5GB CD?

I can't help but get hyped.

I'd say Friday is a safe bet, with the 22nd being the 20th anniversary of the initial release of GTA 3.

Im not a negative person, i try to think realistically. If the leaked PC specs are true, then this has to be something big. What do you need 45GB for if its just a small upgrade from the original which fits on a 4,5GB CD?

I can't help but get hyped.

i hear ya but high quality sound files will take up space too or at least that's what other game companies claim.
not to mention the textures being upscale or completely redone.
i don't expect anything new like cars or weapons or even cut missions coming back i expect just quality of life upgrades along with textures.
i do expect songs to be gutted from the radio.
does anyone have any info how long they been working on this?

Sound does take up space, but it can take up a lot less with good compression techniques.

Since 2019 I think

damn. well they could have changed a lot in that time span.
i read somewhere they started work on it early 2020 that kinda had me on the fence about it but the leaks and the info from Rockstar kinda brought my expectations up a notch.
but I'm still trying not to hype myself up for it.

Does anyone know how much Space it takes to install a HQ mod for GTA SanAndreas? With new textures and sound files?

i'd love how to compress files i been trying to back up older games including the 3D era GTA games.

personally i have the feeling vegetation will be re-done.
i mean...dynamic shadows and such don´t work that well with these LQ trees and palms.
and maybe some slight animation adjustments.
and then likely stuff like normal maps and such will get added as well+improved models.
those are the things i am pretty much certain will be the case

Has Rockstar really become EA? I mean they released RDR2 just 3 years ago, one of the best open world games of all time. They sure have become more greedy with GTA Online, but as long as they give us groundbreaking games every 5 or so years, i can tolerate that.

I can't help but get hyped.

On Xbox, The original Call of Duty 4 was 6.5 GB big. The Remastered version is 73.9 GB big. Never underestimate the power of audio files and textures.
