For some reason Rockstar thought that I'd want to hear their lame-ass score when I drive around the map.

Below your selection, Xbox Cloud Gaming which shows an Xbox Game Pass logo. I think some of those may have been added a while back when E&E was still supposed to release in November, but Game Pass is an interesting addition. Trilogy there? Here's some Inspect Element magic to make it appear.

Nah, I think the Game Pass / Cloud Gaming one is there simply because their games (GTA V & RDR2) have been on Game Pass, in the past, and have been playable through xCloud. Therefore they have to have that on their support page.

I wonder the rdr1 remaster will be just hd version or will it use the rdr2 engine which would be sweet

A remake in rdr2 engine potentially with added content would be a dream, but I am not sure they would want spend that much time/resources on it. I'd be satisfied with a touched up version of an original, I just want the game on modern systems. There is no other R* game that deserves a remaster more.

So I am hoping this trilogy will be successful so they can start working on it.

Could be a possibility. If Rockstar remove the classics from all storefronts they might bundle the classics up with the remasters and sell them all as a collection for a higher price. It's scummy practice but It's not unheard of

how the hell...?

I still think something's off with the scale in that comparison because the suburban buildings and roads in LS look much larger than the ones in RDR2, even in Saint Denis. Although the terrain was scaled to match, something still seems off with the rest. Regardless, RDR2's map will also feel bigger because we're on horseback, so...

That makes sense, thought they'd just use their generic Support stuff for that.

Just try and walk the map in V and you will see how big it really is... RDR2 just lacks cars and aircraft.

Let me remind you, that this game was made by one, literally ONE person.

So, all-in-all, safe to say something will come up this coming week? Considering, obviously, the GTA 3 anniversary is this upcoming Friday.

To be fair, RDR2's region map is kinda strange, like there's two separate maps for that game, one that's loaded in when you're looking at the entire region, and another that's loaded when zoomed in on the region so you can have a more detailed look at towns & such

What we really need to make that comparison accurate is a hodge-podge of both maps to make the physical space as accurate as possible to make way for a better comparison

Guaranteed, I'd say. Especially given all the info that was already uploaded to the servers.

Yeah, I would agree. But as you've already said; in RDR2 you're on horseback. So it's a lot slower to traverse the world, which makes it feel much larger. Also the RDR2 map is less diverse. So the forests are bigger and don't have roads going through the middle, for example. Which really helps the world feel much bigger.

I think the reason the roads look bigger in Los Santos is because... they are. The roads in LS are much wider and open compared to Saint Denis, and even Liberty City in GTA IV. And they also have larger gaps between buildings. Which is why LC feels much bigger than LS, even though it's only really a little bigger.

Remember to take a look at the depots on SteamDB. They were last updated on Friday 13:37 UTC. Hopefully it stays that way through this week, meaning that they've completed any testing and updating and are ready to go for pre-orders.

Actually for now there's no way to know what these updates are actually for, until the app is published (just shows an empty "change" log). I assume depot updates yeah, but they probably have a few for testing/day 1 patching/maintenance/whatever. E.g. qabeta, qabeta2 and 3 in GTA V and RDR2.

No man, it's not big. Go for a ride in GTA V and you'll see all issues of this map. It's clear as night and day, that Rockstar aimed to create something really diverse but they've hit a massive wall and just wasn't able to do what they were probably thinking about back in ~2008 or 2009. Just look at Paleto "forest". What forest? That park near the road?

I'd also argue that another reason why RDR2's map feels significantly bigger than GTA V's is because of all the surrounding geometry. Instead of the map getting surrounded by a lot of bland ocean, Rockstar repeated what they did for the first Red Dead Redemption and surrounded the entire region with a bunch of "fake map" to give the illusion of the place being just a small part of the rest of the world.

If you use mods or glitches to break out of bounds in RDR2, you can see that the outer region of the map stretches out quite a bit too, enough space I'd argue to fit an entirely new location.

One cool thing about Vice City's map design (well, it holds for SA and III to some extent too) is that even if you increase draw distance you won't be able too see 100% of it. The roads kind of go on curves instead of straight on. (Reminds me of Brazilian cities lol)
