I'm done. See everyone tomorrow, hopefully a few bans will be issued out cause it's getting silly.
Hopefully they will turn things around and announce this stuff. Meanwhile I'll keep an eye on things, maybe something will pop-up, although it's a bit too late.

You're implying I was talking about piracy when I didn't mention that. I said torrents - torrents don't automatically mean piracy.

Who uses torrents for anything else other than piracy haha

partly true
kotaku said it was remaster and it was fulfilled
Now they did not say that there were so many changes although
that san andreas would miss for example is very complete
Although there were many eliminated by the beta but it is what there is
but it is always the fault of the same people who delude themselves thinking of a remake (knowing that it would take many years to be gta)
and they are disappointed

in my part I already assumed this

People keep going back to the Kotaku article. Even then, it was vague.

"Heavily modded version of GTA" can mean a lot.

GTA SA mods go as far as to give you a night sky with stars, enhanced lighting, a much better skybox, much better shadows, HD models of NPCs and vehicles, much better vegetation, modern particles, extra content, and so on.

Does this mean you should expect all of those things? no.

My personal expectation is that the game will look relatively modern but I think the graphical fidelity will be in line with Mafia II, LA Noire, GTA 4, etc. I'm not expecting super crazy additions.

That said, a disappointment is still very possible. Expect anything folks.

well, I use torrents whenever I want to download stuff from moddb (or larger files in general) because it's faster. Also if the option's available, otherwise i'm doomed to cry while I download 10gb mods via the browser

If you read the Forums like you're in the GTA universe it gets a lot less stressful and feels much more on-brand.

Few of you guys and gals need to take a step back tonight I think.

It's fine to be skeptical of the remasters, it's fine to be upset/mad/frustrated at Take-Two/Rockstar for decisions they've made, or if the remasters don't meet your expectations.

What's not fine is attacking other forum members for not sharing your beliefs. If you can't share your frustrations without flaming, trolling, baiting or just openly attacking other members then you're not helping your case at all, and painting a poor image of your self.

There is definitely a very reasonable and civil discussion to be had over things like the removal of the original versions of the game but a few of you have proven over the last few pages that are you not capable of that. If you have to resort to ad hominem then you're no better than the people you think are wrong.

As passionate as we all are about games, the classic GTA's and all that, it's not worth losing hair over.

Just my take on the delistings. I think it was a very silly decision for Rockstar and Take-Two to even go ahead with this, I feel like it was done so people can't buy it and download mods that provide a bit more of a superior experience. There was definitely a motive otherwise they would've just kept it up. It does worry me with modding going forward with the DE... And also maybe it was done so new people couldn't try out reVC & re3 (?) since it works better than vanilla port and restores a bunch of PS2 features alongside a bunch of QoF improvements.

Mafia, BioShock, Saints Row, etc, all managed to do this

I can't speak for the consoles versions of the game(haven't played them in almost 20 years), but when I first got the Trilogy on PC it was completely unplayable, I remember not being able to get past the main menu because of sort of resolution issue. These OG games are buggy and don't work correctly out of the box, do you think the average person has the know how or the time to properly install mods. I think it would of been more an headache for them to keep at least the PC versions of the games online. Why have support costs involved with keeping them up? All the mods that make the games playable are still up and we appreciate you and the modding community.

Which is the opinion of that person, will we think the same? Who knows, probably not.

The one mod you need for them to be playable, SilentPatch, is literally drag and drop so that's a low bar.

May I remind you that Manhunt is still up on Steam with a disclaimer saying it doesn't support newer versions of Windows, something that the original trilogy didn't even have: https://store.steampowered.com/app/12130/Manhunt/

it takes 0 resources for them to leave a store page dormant, and would likely bring them more money than if they were to delist it.

Exactly, and I think it only commented on the look of the game; not so much the content or such. It's reasonable to assume a lot of info was embargoed.

I don't like this view that because they wern't the best versions then they deserved to be eliminated. Again, we don't know what the new versions are like, what if they're worse, then we're stuck in a situation where we have no access to the classic versions and the only legal way for new people to play being a possible inferior product. As for the costs of keeping up support for the old versions, they didn't do jack sh*t for the past 10 years support wise so it really wouldn't have made much a difference.

As @VideoTech this specific choice feels like a way to cripple the modding community even more because they have a dislike for us.

Well, even Rockstar spoke along the lines of "graphic enhancements". If the remasters looked like Mafia: DE then Rockstar wouldn't have phrased it that way.

While I'm here and there's been a few posts about it, piracy isn't the correct option here.

Piracy is a service problem, there's absolutely no justification for it with anything Rockstar have done with the trilogy remaster. Using "f*ck you!" as a justification for Rockstar/Take-Two hurts everybody. An increase in piracy hurts the PC industry, it encourages publishers to push for more DRM and always online. It's bad and it's selfish.

By pirating a video game, any video game, you aren't saying to the developer/publisher "I'm pirating your game because you suck!" you're saying "I want your game but I'm not willing to pay for it". You're simply part of the crowd that is at fault for making the suits think DRM is the answer. DRM and online always stuff is anti-modding too, by the way.

It's also against forum rules to discuss it but ya'know.

Someone stopped taking their medication and argued with themselves on their alt account for the past 12 pages.

Talking about piracy is against the TOC's of this forum right @Spider-Vice so if people are just being told to resort to piracy on this very forum, what's your stance on this? Are we allowed to talk about piracy? Are we NOT allowed to talk about piracy?

In general we don't allow encouragement of piracy or sharing of pirated materials, so this rule would obviously apply to the Definitive Edition. However given the circumstances of the de-listing of old games then obviously this is going to be something that is brought up more frequently in discussion and that's fine.
