Sonar and Missiles on Kosatka-worth it?

Recommended Posts

Once you have a Kosatka and can reliably play Cayo Perico solo, price tags aren't an issue.

The only issue is, do you want them? If yes, buy them.

The sonar is useful for finding hidden packages, and if you listen closely on sonar, you can hear Mr. Rubio screaming (according to Pavel)

You can also detect other Kosatkas that are under water (normally off the radar)

The guided missiles are useful for that weapons prep at Merryweather HQ (specifically to blow up the chopper and switch to the Office mission)

Of course, I'm assuming you already bought the Sparrow, if not buy that first. I have also bought a Toreador and store that in the Moon Pool as well.

I really need to get Cayo going. I've had the sub and Sparrow for a while now,and even did the 1st prep. But when I have time to play, I keep getting distracted. This week it is Headhunter and Sightseer. So easy! Especially with the Opressor MK2,Sparrow and Buzzard. Add in Terrorbyte jobs to fill in during cool downs, and not a minuted is wasted.

Whenever I buy something over a 1 Million, I want it to be useful for making $$$. Since you say the missiles are useful for prep work,I'll go buy that now. The Toreador is on my list of things to buy when it goes on sale-although hearing Mr. Rubio scream sounds fun! Hehe.\

As always,Thank You for your excellent advice!

For reference/to get you off VIP work, when you've got your head round the routes and guards and whatnot (youtube!), and without speedrunning it, you're looking at 90m or less to make $1.5m from CPH.

what do you mean blow up the chopper and switch to office mission? I was thinking of buying the guided missiles, but how can you control the missiles during the mission and be at the prep location at the same time?

Because before starting the Weapons prep, you move your Kosatka to the Merryweather HQ where that helicopter spawns.

You start the Weapons prep, check where the game is sending you.

In case of Merryweather HQ, take a guided missile and blow up the helicopter on the roof of the big warehouse.

I would say, save your money and don't buy them until you have good sale on them.

not worth to buy the missiles guided station just for the prep.

i always do this prep no matter what i got, its fun even if it takes few min more.

not everyone are grinders, for some players the divercity of the missions are more fun than completing them fastest way you can.

you don't realy need to follow the valkyrie. you can just fly to the Avenger and clean the area from npc's and wait for it to land there and then blow it up too.

Spoiler

tip: you can know where is the avenger by checking the valkyrie route, best reference is the LS car meet.

if it's flying left to the car meet above the tunnel/river, the location is in the grand senora oil pumps behind the shopping center.

if it's flying above the car meet the location is Grapeseed.

if it's flying right to the car meet the location is power station.

This used to be like that, but at some point it changed and I got mission failed if I went ahead to clean the area. Also the Merryweather heli often seemed to crash if I left it by itself travelling from the city . But if that issue has been now again fixed maybe it's worth doing that prep again.

I just finished the prep like i said, nothing bugged or failed, on PC.

Notes:

it took me 8 min +/- from start to finish including fast travel behind the HQ.

one good thing i notied is that you can't blow up the valkyrie bymistake anymore, unlike in the past, the homing working only when it should be.

Too late lol, I already bought them. I kind of regret it. It’s really hard hitting a target with them and also the range is not as far as was purported. I heard you could hit a target from anywhere on the map, but it really only goes half way, if that before going out of range. It’s also very slow to steer. You’d think you would be able to steer them better. But, Oh Well, it is what it is.

Before you trying to hit any target, use fast travel to closer location you need.

for the weapons prep with the heli, just chose to spawn behind the merryweather HQ,

you will trigger the heli and its close enuth to hit it with the missles.
