XerostarTG
Remember when: You typed in John Marston and you would get like three actual pictures of him. And at the bottom of the first Google page would be some woman's crazy fantasy about John's ass. (~2013) (Guess she got what she wanted with the assless chaps glitch in RDR2) You typed in Beecher's Hope and one grainy picture popped up (from the Wikia) and the among others was Minecraft Recreation that had a gloomy "texture pack". (~2013) When RDR2 was announced and people said: "CaN'T WaiT To f*ck My HoRSe, Hr-HRR-hR" (~2016) When Teddy Roosevelt was the best clickbait that LegacyKillaHD had at the time (times were desperate) and he had about 22K subs. (~2014) Fill this with whatever you want, lets just reminisce without Arthur Worshipping (this is an RDR1 board). Also call it RDR1; when you say the "Red Dead 1", you show a lack of care about "Red Dead", the first "Red Dead" was Revolver. Just looking out for the ancient fans (though I was an RDR1 fan). billiejoearmstrong8
This problem is entirely caused by their decision to call it "Red Dead Redemption 2", meaning that the name "Red Dead Redemption" is always just the first part of that name with nothing to distinguish it from it in searches. You can try adding "1" but it doesn't help much since it isn't actually in the name. GTA (for example) doesn't have this problem because every game has a unique word/character in it - if you want to seach for GTA IV stuff it doesn't matter that GTA V is so huge because the "IV" still distinguishes it. If they'd only called it "Red Dead *something else*" instead (which would've made a lot more sense for a prequel and for a series where using a different name rather than a number was already established anyway) there would've been no problem, because the word "redemption" would be unique to RDR1 and searching for stuff about one game or the other would be simple. This illogical naming decision has always annoyed me and I can't see that much benefit to it either - I guess it would've gotten RDR2 stuff a slight amount more clicks and promotion when it was first announced but to me that seems like it would be cancelled out by all the times people have also had to sift through RDR1 stuff amongst RDR2. It was very irritating trying to find stuff out about RDR1 when I was first playing it last year. Glad to see I'm not the only one bothered! I don't mind it being referred to as RDR1 because it's just practical and not fans' fault since the names they gave the games make it necessary. But I wish they'd gone with a different name for RDR2 that was more interesting, creative and logical and didn't cause this avoidable issue instead of naming it PURELY to get the most search results with no other considerations. Just the "Red Dead" part would've still got them plenty so it wouldn't have been an unreasonable compromise. Jutland
IIRC people were sometimes saying it should have been called something else beginning with R like Red Dead Revenge or Red Dead Revolution or something. But that just causes a problem with abbreviating the game’s name because then you have two games with the exact same RDR abbreviation (three games if you include Revolver). Calling it Red Dead Redemption 2 means you have a unique abbreviation (RDR2) and to be honest I think most people simply Google ‘RDR2’ rather than type out ‘Red Dead Redemption 2.’ So from R*’s point of view the title is great. RDR2 is a sure-fire no-ambiguity way for people to Google the game. But in order to have the abbreviation RDR2, they’ve got to call it Redemption 2, not Revenge or Revolution or anything. I would have been ok with it if they had called it Red Dead Betrayal or Red Dead Gangs or something. But using an R word is better, for some weird alliterative poetic reason.
