Fantastic Parks in this game

The parks in Liberty City add a lot of flavor and personality to it.

 

From the renowned Middle Park with all the tourists and the scenic attractions like the boat pier and the diner

 

The quaint Meadows Park with the tennis courts and star attractions like the Monoglobe and the towers

 

The familiar Outlook Park which is likely the first park you encounter in the game where you meet Jacob for the first time with that rectangular monument being it's centerpiece

 

The enormous Steinway Park with the swimming pools and basketball courts and providing a fantastic view of the river and the Algonquin skyline. 

 

 

The parks with it's lush greenery, scenic views, tourists, joggers, yoga practitioners, musicians, hobos etc are great places to visit, both for a casual jog or stroll and a great place for a shootout too. 

 

So feel free to share what you like about them and anything noteworthy you did in these parks if you feel like it, or even sharing images of these picturesque locations if you can.

I like the park in Acter you get missions from Derek at, really the nicest place to go to shoot heroin into your eyeballs

 

 

All joking aside I like the basketball court in the rear, a v nice touch

Great post, couldn't agree more! And to think people say IV is all just dark and grey. The greenery/colourful autumn leaves/varied architecture in the parks provide plenty of pleasant atmosphere and beauty in contrast to the less pretty areas of the city.

 

I like the details you can find in Middle Park if you look around - people exercising, the vendors etc, the historic buildings surrounding it, some interesting sculptures (I never noticed them until I explored it properly), the little shaky boats on the lake, even the authentically grimy toilets. If it rains you might see people sheltering under trees which is cool.

 

The towers in Meadows Park are awesome. I was so pleased when I saw they were climbable, it's a great view and you can have some fun with police chases up there with the multiple levels/ladders.

 

Shout out to Welham Parkway in Bohan! I like the atmosphere around the shallow lake, especially if there's a sax player there. Perfect for pushing people in too.

 

And Gantry Park in the north of Steinway is cool as well, it has those big "EAST ISLAND" structures (based on the real life "LONG ISLAND" ones) and a good place to pick a fight with some Irish Mob guys.

[Algonquin Assassin]

Middle Park is my favourite, but really I like all the parks. GTA IV doesn't get enough credit for its green/open areas though. It's not all grey, dull buildings like some people think it is. 

 

There's actually alot of variety in the landscape around the map when you look hard enough.

I would always run through Middle Park clocking people in the head with a bat as I passed them. Strangely cathartic. 

 

Hate Alderney Industrial Park I get lost so easy

I agree @Wayne Kerr and everybody else, GTA 4 featured some great, diverse parks. When I get the chance to return, I'll grab a more interesting screenshot of this statue in Meadows Park:

 

 

I think that the lighting was a bit flat, and the sky was a bit dull. But I admire Rockstar's attention to detail in the statue and the Monoglobe behind it. Thanks everybody for sharing your screenshots and thoughts; smaller details can sometimes be overlooked in bigger games.
