GTA V is on top in the UK Sales Chart August 2021 - or -- to be more precise GTA ONLINE is. GTA V is since long dead at least on console. But it does not matter because GTA V is by now synonymous with GTA ONLINE. The truth of the matter is that a lot of people still play GTA ONLINE, and are willing to buy remaster after remaster, and shark card after shark card, and mark my word, they most likely will. So don't be surprised if people buy The enhanced and expanded edition - and don't be surprised if Rockstar removes updates for the older generations of consoles and then more people will buy the expanded edition so they can get more updates. These people don't care about game politics,  they don't understand the consequence's of their actions or they simply don't care a about it. These people are more interested to pay for online content such as flying cars than DLC:s such as TbOGT or TLaD and the sales proves it -- hence why Rockstar decided to scrap the Singleplayer DLC. There you you.

Yet people wonder why Rockstar continues to sell shark cards and remasters and flying cars. You vote with your wallet. It's as simple as that. There is no way to get around it. As a matter of fact, as soon as you play GTA ONLINE you show interest in it, and interest equals support. Because actual players & sales is all what matters. Yet I have seen youtubers who hate the direction GTA V is taking but, still adding, that they ''might buy the expanded edition anyway''. The GTA community isn't represented by people on this forum - it's represented by the majority of players - and the majority of players is the online crowd. There is a culture shift going on here, a new generation of gamers with different goals and appetites.

Now, I'm not defending Rockstar. I'm not saying I like all of this. I outright HATE it.  Back in 2013 left online quickly because I knew where it was heading and I have never returned since then. I have seen it in other titles and I don't want to be part of it. So, please, if you're against the change that is happening now with Rockstar, remember that this change was indeed initiated by Rockstar, but that it is simultaneously supported by the vast amount of GTA players. Changing Rockstar is easy - you just vote with your wallet. But changing the community... how is that possible? Is it possible? I don't know and its pretty tragic.

There's nothing wrong with buying and playing any game if you enjoy it. If any players are to "blame" it's those who frequently spend money on rip off microtransactions that aren't worth the money, not those who simply buy and play a game. It's the microtransaction side of things that has brought about all the negative changes to GTA/gaming in general, because they're just so profitable and bring companies high reward for extremely low effort/investment. But ultimately it isn't fans (or kids new to games who know no better) who are at fault, it's the multi million dollar corporation that's exploiting them and that has thrown their creative and artistic integrity away for profit.

As they say: don't blame the player, blame the game.

Yes, there is nothing wrong with buying and playing a game if you enjoy it.  This is exactly why microtransactions is obviously worth the money - otherwise people wouldn't be willing to pay for it. Of course Rockstar is to blame for introducing microtransactions in the first place, but the player's is to blame for the continuation of microtransactions. The logic behind any business is to sell whatever people buy. What people don't buy is what dies out. If you sell a pair of ripped jeans, and people buy it, more will be produced. Anyone who pays for it is voting for it. It isn't really more complicated than that, really.

Both perpetuate it but it's the seller who's responsible for it. It's why drug dealers are judged worse than drug addicts.
