Not an iOS user.

But it feels like part of the web-site has been stolen. So bloody weird! 😂

Running a ton smoother when logged in on Safari. Happy with the change 👍

Just to add to the above this is much better now on iOS, thank you!

Two things are noticeably different: heavy image or video threads now open (previously they’ve been crashing for months), and it’s possible to access links to specific comments in threads (which again always crashes). Plus everything is much smoother.

This site was unusable on Safari for macOS too, but I'm actually glad the problem pushed me to use Microsoft Edge to browse this site on Mac and iOS because it makes sense for Edge to be my gaming topic browser that syncs with Windows and Xbox.

Another iOS user that finds the site running a lot better at the moment.

We maaaaay have tracked down the issue to something as simple as one line of CSS (an "overflow: hidden" applied to a larger element) causing an issue because Safari truly is the Internet Explorer of Apple when it comes to stability and web standards lmao. Removing that CSS line we were using to work around a bug with the navigation sidebar, testing with several device simulators/emulators/streams online instantly showed a major improvement on my end. Unfortunately, removing that workaround also broke the navigation sidebar, so we'll be looking into that now in the next few days.

If this means iOS members can browse the site more quickly, then by all means, we'd rather have that and temporarily sacrifice the left hand sidebar than slow browsing.

I am still utterly puzzled as to why being logged on/off mattered (a staff member noted this a while back too), as both guests and members load the same styling content, perhaps the guest pages being mostly static HTML refreshed every X seconds helped there, no idea. Safari is one of the hardest browsers to debug issues with, as it can be literally the only browser to have issues with certain code that no other browser does due to Apple's restrictive rules.

The site functions much better. Before it would try to load and the entire page would just break.

Site runs much better with my iPhone XS. Thanks for the update and I hope you guys will find a way to get the sidebar back while keeping the site working on iOS.

Are you sure that was a great idea to break browser experience for PC in exchange of making pages load *faster* on iPhones?

If the bug was in dynamic sidebar, why can't it be temporary static and always open? It's really annoying to navigate forums without sidebar on PC

Definitely seems smoother on iOS safari now. It ran really really badly before.

Aye.

Surely one could write a simple script that detects the user's OS and loads only the stable page components? Also, static sidebar > dynamic sidebar; it's so annoying having to expand it every time my cookies re-set.

Switching between sections is a pain atm.

Just wanted to pop in a report that GTAFourms intends to occasionally fails to render replies in active topics and may at times result in the page from completely crashing. I found the last version of iOS to be way more stable here but since Apple made more useless updates to Safari (sigh), it’s made this site completely difficult to use now.

Yes it works

Hey guys, I use an iPhone or iPad with Safari and I was wondering if anyone knew how to post images saved in my photo library or saved anywhere else on my phone? It always asks for a URL and in my saved photos the file says IMG_51947 just for example.

Sooooo when are we getting it back? It's been about a month without the sidebar and it appears there is a solution, I guess? Could it be reenabled for non-iOS users? Navigating is a lot clunkier without the sidebar
