Diamondblade
Hello all, I've installed GTA 2 v. 11.44 from this link hoping that it wouldn't crash since it's modded to be Windows 10-compatible. After installing the files, I opened the "gta2_install" registry-file-thingy to opened up v.11.44's special tabs in the "GTA2 manager", and figured I'd then be able to play the game with no crashes. Unfortunately, it still quits on me every so often, at least every few days, to the point where I'm hesitant to do anything more than mess around in free roam, for fear of working hard doing missions and then losing progress. What am I doing wrong? How can I play GTA 2 on WIN 10 without it quitting on me? Thanks!
jm-9
Have a look at Application in the Event Viewer (search for it in Windows) after it crashes. See what it says. I will say that it works perfectly for me on Windows 10, so it shouldn't happen.

It happened again today and I finaly managed to find the relevant error in the Event Viewer. The error displays the following: Error 30/09/2021 23:45:49 Application Error 1000 (100) Or, if I right-click "copy details as text" instead of "copy table", this: Log Name: Application Source: Application Error Date: 30/09/2021 23:45:49 Event ID: 1000 Task Category: (100) Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: YOTAM-LENOVO-I7-LAPTOP Description: Faulting application name: GTA2.EXE, version: 11.44.0.0, time stamp: 0x408ec2ac Faulting module name: GTA2.EXE, version: 11.44.0.0, time stamp: 0x408ec2ac Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00013829 Faulting process id: 0xf98 Faulting application start time: 0x01d7b63bf634d6d9 Faulting application path: C:\games\GTA2\GTA2.EXE Faulting module path: C:\games\GTA2\GTA2.EXE Report Id: f162c07e-4709-4d0a-8e8e-684ce1096816 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: Event Xml: <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="Application Error" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">1000</EventID> <Version>0</Version> <Level>2</Level> <Task>100</Task> <Opcode>0</Opcode> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2021-09-30T20:45:49.0016594Z" /> <EventRecordID>7726</EventRecordID> <Correlation /> <Execution ProcessID="0" ThreadID="0" /> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>YOTAM-LENOVO-I7-LAPTOP</Computer> <Security /> </System> <EventData> <Data>GTA2.EXE</Data> <Data>11.44.0.0</Data> <Data>408ec2ac</Data> <Data>GTA2.EXE</Data> <Data>11.44.0.0</Data> <Data>408ec2ac</Data> <Data>c0000005</Data> <Data>00013829</Data> <Data>f98</Data> <Data>01d7b63bf634d6d9</Data> <Data>C:\games\GTA2\GTA2.EXE</Data> <Data>C:\games\GTA2\GTA2.EXE</Data> <Data>f162c07e-4709-4d0a-8e8e-684ce1096816</Data> <Data> </Data> <Data> </Data> </EventData> </Event> Any Idea what any of this means? Exception 0xc0000005 means that the game is trying to access something that it can't. It shouldn't usually happen for something in a folder like C:\Games though. Try running it as an administrator. Right-click and click Run as Administrator. Have you noticed any pattern regarding when it happens? Edited October 1, 2021 by jm-

Have you noticed any pattern regarding when it happens? Actually, I think I noticed it occasionally happening when I run \ drive backwards pressing the Down arrow key. Could that possibly be, or am I just imagining things? I've already tried running the game as administrator, but to no avail. The installation path I use is C:\games\GTA2 . My "player" and "data" folders have been cut-and-pasted multiple times both when I formatted my PC and when I tried 3-4 times to uninstall and reinstall the game. Could that possibly be it? Thanks! Okay, that's strange. Maybe try copying it to a different folder (any folder will do) and see if running it from there fixes it.
